EMI5.1
tion selon l'invention, celle-ci comprend également des moyens 1
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

The invention relates essentially to a method and an installation for treating mainly liquid residue, semiliquid, comprising a fermentation for the production of biogas or fatty acids, or other molecules.
In known processes or installations it is usually necessary to carry out a decantation for the separation of the biomass, which naturally leads to a loss of biomass, a complication of the process and of the apparatus, as well as ultimately a more cost. Student.
The present invention therefore aims to eliminate the drawbacks of the prior art by providing a solution avoiding the previous step of decanting the biomass, while being of a particularly simple design.
This solution consists according to the present invention in a process of the type comprising a fermentation, such as for example an anaerobic fermentation, in a digester, characterized in that filtration, preferably microfiltration, of the liquid inside the digester, preferably near the outlet of the liquid, in order to maintain the biomass in the digester, that is to say in the fermentation system. Preferably, micro-filtration is carried out with an immersed micro-filter having openings with a diameter advantageously between 50 and 500 microns.
According to a preferred characteristic of this process, a periodic unclogging of the filter is carried out by blowing biogas or injecting recycled water or both.
According to another preferred characteristic of the method according to the invention, scraping of the floating solid products is carried out, which usually form what is called a crust or a cap.
The present invention also relates to an installation of the type comprising a fermentation digester, such as for example anaerobic fermentation, means for supplying liquid or semi-liquid residues to be fermented, means for supporting

tion of biogas produced and optionally stirring means, characterized in that it comprises a filtration device, preferably micro-filtration of the liquid, disposed inside said digester, preferably in the vicinity of the outlet of the digester .
Preferably, this filtration device is at least partially and advantageously totally, immersed in the liquid. According to a preferred embodiment, the installation according to the invention also comprises a device for scraping the floating solid products preferably cooperating with a means forming a chute for recovering and discharging the floating products. Advantageously, means for unclogging the filtration device are also provided.
Other objects, characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear clearly in the light of the explanatory description which will follow made with reference to the appended figures in which - FIG. 1 represents a schematic view in elevation and in partial section of a mode production of a digester according to the invention, given simply by way of example and which therefore cannot limit the scope of the invention; and - Figure 2 shows a sectional view along the trace line II-II of Figure 1.
With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, an installation according to the invention for treating mainly liquid or semi-liquid residues for the production of biogas and / or acid, and / or other molecules, generally comprises a digester referenced by the reference number 1, fermentation such as for example anaerobic fermentation, which can for example, as shown, be of substantially cylindrical shape and of the type with upward flow called "up-flow".
Thus, this digester comprises means 2 for supplying liquid or semi-liquid residues to be fermented; means 4 for withdrawing the fermented liquid; 6 recovery means

edge at the top of the digester 1 and comprising a valve 8. This digester can also advantageously include stirring means 10 formed here by a shaft 12 formed here by a hollow cylinder mounted along the axis of the digester 1 rotatably on bearings 14, 16, one end of the shaft 12 being driven by a drive means 18 such as a motor. The shaft 12 comprises, according to the example shown at its lower end and its upper end, respectively, blades 20, 22 for stirring, the upper blades also being visible in FIG. 2.
These blades support flexible plates respectively 24.26 which are generally made of elastomer. At least the lower blades 20 are formed by hollow tubes opening freely inside the hollow shaft 12 and having on their periphery openings 30. On the other hand, the bearing 14 is also hollow and connected by a conduit 32 by means of supplying liquid residues. By this construction, it is therefore understood that the liquid or semi-liquid residues to be fermented are introduced axially into the digester by the hollow bearing 14, the hollow shaft 12 and open into the interior space 34 of the digester 1 through the openings 30.
This construction for introducing liquid or semi-liquid residues is an integral part of the invention.
It may be noted that an introduction of the liquid or semi-liquid residues to be fermented can be done in the usual way, that is to say laterally or in the bottom of the digester in a normal or tangential direction.
Also according to the present invention, the installation is characterized in that it comprises a device 40 for filtration, preferably of micro-filtration, of the liquid, disposed inside the digester 1 as clearly visible in FIGS. 1 and 2, and preferably in the vicinity of the outlet 4 of the liquid. Preferably, as shown, this filtration device 40 is at least partially, and advantageously
EMI4.1
totally immersed in the liquid. This is clearly visible 1
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
wheat in Figure 1 where the liquid level L is clearly visible and is located above the filtration device.
According to the embodiment shown, the filtration device comprises a filter disposed around the entire inner periphery of the digester as is clearly shown in Figures 1 and 2. Preferably, this filter is arranged inclined towards the axis of the digester, so as to form a constriction at the top of the digester. Since the filtration device 40 is at least partially submerged, it is understood that "natural" filtration takes place under the effect of the pressure.
Preferably, this filtration device is formed by a micro-filter comprising openings having a dimension in the range from about 50 to about 500 microns.
According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the installation according to the invention, this comprises a device 50 for scraping floating solid products, this scraping device being here formed by the combination of blades 22 and flexible plates 26 of elastomer . Preferably, this scraper device 50 cooperates with a means 60 forming a chute for recovering and discharging floating products by the presence of an evacuation pipe 62 disposed in an inclined manner relative to the vertical wall of the digester, preferably substantially at an angle of about 30 degrees without being critical.
it is thus understood that during fermentation, the floating solid products which usually form a crust or a cap, are broken by the scraper device 50, are projected into the chute 60 and evacuated by the piping 62. In addition, the upper part of the chute 60 is disposed at a level slightly higher than the level of the liquid L so as not to discharge any liquid containing the biomass.
According to another advantageous characteristic of the installation
EMI5.1
tion according to the invention, it also includes means 1
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
for unclogging the filtration device 40. These unclogging means preferably comprise means for blowing biogas or injecting recycled water, that is to say previously filtered water, or a combination of the two that is introduced by the evacuation means 4 or by a separate pipe located in the space 64 left free between the upper wall of the digester and the filtration device 40 which comprises a vertical extension 42 emerging above the level of the liquid L so that the liquid can only pass through the filter and not over the filter.
Thus, a reinjection of biogas or of liquid will make it possible to unclog the filtration device 40 and this reinjected biogas can be evacuated by the evacuation means 6 or the reinjected liquid can be evacuated immediately in the vicinity by the presence of the pipe 70.
The digester according to the invention may also comprise towards its lower part one or more pipes 72, 74 for evacuating sludge of higher density. Naturally, the circulation of liquid or semi-liquid products is facilitated by the presence of various pumps.
0n therefore understands that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and includes all the means constituting technical equivalents of the means described, as well as their various combinations. In particular, the chute 60 may or may not be equipped with a mechanical collecting device such as, for example, a screw. 0n can also perform the scraping of floating products by shredder scrapers or a side scraping near the filtration device 40 or with sieving elements or even a brush.
One can also provide a cone for separation and recovery of gases or biogas, as well as a device for adjusting the immersion of the retaining cup 42 and therefore of the filtration device 40. It is also possible to carry out an addition and a recovery carrying elements of metha micro organisms

including sawdust, fly ash, etc. The unclogging of the filtration device 40 can also be carried out by introducing a unclogging agent. The micro-filter can be rotatable and its connection to the walls is ensured by a seal.
