Abstract

This self-contained assembly, which is mounted inside the hermetically sealed volume between the two panes of glass in a double glazed window frame, provides power to a light-regulating device. A bank of solar cells converts solar energy into electric current which is used to charge a sec. cell battery. An electronic circuit controls the charging operation and the supply of power from the battery to an electric motor. The motor drives the light-regulating device via a shaft and gear. An access plate to the circuits is hermetically sealed to the inside pane.

Description

   <EMI ID=1.1>

   <EMI ID = 1.1>

The invention is a modernization of the existing glass windows. It consists of an electromechanical or electromagnetic drive powered by solar energy, the function of which is to operate a mechanism located between multiple glazing and hermetically sealed from the atmosphere and to control the light passage of the window.

In practical terms, the drive unit consists of one or more photovoltaic solar panels that supply a rechargeable battery, which in turn feeds an electromechanical or electromagnetic system. The exclusivity consists in that the drive unit is hermetically sealed from the atmosphere and is part of the glass window.

Benefits:
- Compact and light weight.
- Can be used with movable windows.
- Simplifies the accommodation of buildings.
- Energy consumption nil except the ambient light.
- Remote control of the light control can be realized with a minimum electronics unit.

Description of the drawing.

The principle drawing shows a variant of the drive mechanism.

The incident light (5) feeds the photovoltaic solar cell

(6). This supplies power to the rechargeable battery (7) which in turn feeds the motor (9) and the electronic control and regulation (8). The traction shaft (10) drives an unspecified mechanism.

Repairs are possible by unscrewing the hermetic seal (4).

Decision:

The invention consists of a number of solar panels

and a battery supplying electromechanical or electromagnetic drive. The drive is reversed

operate a mechanism that causes the control of a passing light. The exclusivity consists in that the drive forms one whole with the glazing

and is hermetically sealed from the atmosphere.
