Abstract
The sporting gun casing is made of fitted sheet parts and is not machined from the solid. It consists of two shells, fitted together, and the external faces are smooth. Each shell has sheet reinforcing plates to give rigidity. The reinforcing plates also act as guides to help in fitting the two shells together. The shells are fixed by electron beam welding along their upper edges. The reinforcing plates are also shaped to match parts inside, such as a sliding breech.
Description
The present invention relates to a carcass for a shotgun.
So far, shotgun carcasses have been machined out of the mass, which is particularly expensive. For weapons of war, on the other hand, we have already made stamped sheet metal carcasses. However, the appearance of such parts is incompatible with the aesthetic requirements of the vast majority of sport shooters and hunters.
The object of the present invention is to allow production by stamping which does not have the disadvantage of the known technique, while giving a perfectly rigid carcass despite an external appearance quite comparable to that of conventional carcasses.
This object is achieved, in accordance with the invention, by assembling two shells whose external faces are smooth, their internal faces being previously provided each with a sheet
profiled reinforcement also stamped, the profiling of said sheets further serving to support and guide the usual parts intended to occupy the interior of the carcass.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described below by way of illustration and without limitation, reference being made to the appended drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a schematic partial view of an automatic shotgun; FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the carcass of the rifle of FIG. 1, and FIGS. 3 and 4 are sections respectively along lines III-III and IV-IV of FIG. 1.
In FIG. 1, we recognize the carcass 1 extending the butt 2, the barrel 3, the handguard 4 and the subguard 5.
The carcass 1 consists of two shells 6 and 7 made of stamped sheet metal and whose external and internal faces are smooth.
The internal faces of said shells are subject to profiled reinforcing sheets, respectively 8 and 9, then the two shells are joined for example by electron beam welding of their upper edges, as indicated in 10.
The profiling of the sheets 8 and 9 is carried out so as to provide
