dikwijls klein is.

CONTAINER FOR THE TRANSPORT OF HEAT-RELEASING MATERIALS
The invention relates to containers for the transport of products which release heat.
Materials that release heat are common in nuclear energy applications. Radioactive material, usually packed in metal boxes or pots, is transported in containers which must withstand the consequences of an accident under all circumstances.
The heat dissipation of the pots or boxes enclosed in containers takes place by heat radiation and by heat conduction. Heat conduction takes place along the contact surfaces between the boxes and the inner walls of the container, while heat radiation takes place via the trapped air surrounding the boxes or pots. In some cases this air may be replaced by a gas to improve heat transfer.

container, this heat dissipation can create problems. Indeed, in order to prevent damage, the pots or boxes are clamped in the containers, so that the contact surfaces are not always large.

often small.
The aim of the present application is to improve heat dissipation in a container. The object of the invention is a container for the transport of

Characteristic, that is the inner jacket in which the packaged material is placed
is at least partially provided on the inside with channels which form a circuit with channels located outside the inner jacket, whereby a natural circulation of the fluid trapped in the container occurs.
According to the invention, this fluid can be ordinary air as well as a suitable gas which aids heat transfer.
The channels will preferably be formed on the inside as well as on the outside of the inner jacket.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the outer wall and the inner wall of the inner jacket are provided with ribs which form the channels. These ribs can be arranged or cut out of the material.
The invention is further described below with reference to a non-limiting example, with reference to the attached drawings, in which figure 1 shows a longitudinal section of a container according to the invention; figures 2 and 3 represent a cross section of an inner casing; figure 4 represents a cross-section of a container according to the invention. Referring to Figure 1, it shows a container for radioactive material. The material is packed in a box 1 which is placed in the inner casing 2 of the container, the inner casing 2 formed from wood is provided on the inside with channels 3 and surrounded on the outside by channels 4; these channels communicate with each other at the bottom and top of the jacket via channels 8 and 9.

container. This container itself is formed from 2 layers of wood (radiation-absorbing material) 6, which are surrounded by the metal walls 7. Cooling ribs 10 are arranged around the metal outer wall. The box 1 is inserted through a removable lid 11 which has the same structure as the container (wood - metal). When the box 1 releases heat, the air in channel 3 will heat up through conduction and rise through natural circulation, the air will flow via the connecting channel 9 to the outer channel 4, transfer its heat to the metal inner wall 5 and through the channel 4 through conduction. flow from top to bottom in order to return to the channel 3 via the connecting channel 8.
This air circulation provides a not negligible heat dissipation, which is difficult to replace by conduction and thus makes it possible to transport more radioactive material in the container.
Figure 2 represents a cross-section through the inner shell and shows the box 1, the inner shell 2 and the inner wall 5 of the container. The inside of the jacket 2 shows a number of ribs 12 that form channels 3 and the outside of the jacket 2 shows a number of ribs 14 that form the channels 4. Figure 3 corresponds to figure 2 and indicates that larger boxes can be placed in the same container by adjusting the inner jacket to the dimensions of the boxes, the thickness of the wall of the inner jacket in figure 3 is therefore much smaller than this. in figure 2. Figure 4 shows a cross-section of a container in which 3 boxes are placed.
It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the embodiments shown in the drawings, but includes all modifications and improvements that fall within the scope of the invention, i.e. air or gas circulation within the container to increase heat dissipation.
For example, the air can be replaced by the helium or another gas; for example, the inner jacket can form part of the container and not be removable; for example, the channels for the air circulation can form a whole separate from the inner jacket; for instance, the channels can be replaced by an open space with fastening elements for the box 1 and for the casing 2; in short the invention encompasses all possibilities that allow to obtain air circulation in a container.
