<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>

<EMI ID=27.1>

Device for collecting wind or hydraulic energy with vertical axis and variable geometry blades.
The present invention relates to a device for capturing:
<EMI ID = 1.1>
translational movement in rotational movement of a shaft c of a tower acting as a vertical shaft driven by variable geometry blades.
It is in fact known to date to capture the energy of the wind or a stream, mainly for the production of electricity.
However, in the case of wind turbines and windmills, most of the existing capture systems use a set of blades rotating in a plane perpendicular to the direction.
wind, around an axis of rotation parallel to that direction.
Changes in wind direction then make it necessary to have a device for orienting all the blades, which makes
the more expensive and delicate machine.
In addition, as the plane of rotation of the blades changes with
the direction of the wind, these can only be fixed to the tree by one of their ends. All their weight acts like this
on the only horizontal shaft. This limits the gripping surface
the wind.
Finally.) As they rotate in a plane perpendicular to
<EMI ID = 2.1>
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by providing an energy capture device which, on the one hand, turns the blades in a plane substantially parallel to the direction of the moving fluid, around a vertical axis, and on the other hand allows the blades, during their stroke, to pivot about an axis perpendicular to the vertical axis, so that, when they are in a sector where the thrust of the fluid promotes their rotation, they present to this fluid an attack surface which makes the thrust maximum while, when they are in a sector where the thrust of the fluid slows their rotation, they present to it an attack surface which makes the thrust minimum.
This pivot movement is controlled by the thrust of the fluid itself and by its direction, whatever it is, so <EMI ID = 3.1>
The invention will be better understood by referring to the description as well as to the drawing which represents, only by way of example, an embodiment of the invention in which:
- Figure 1 is a perspective and profile view of a wind energy capture device according to the invention,
- Figure 2 is a top view of the same device.
The device comprises, housed and supported in a base B fixed relative to the ground, a main shaft A whose axis X is

Let D be a line parallel to the direction of the wind, passing through the intersection between Yl and X. The plane which contains D and X cuts the space into two subspaces El and E2.
If we rotate the blades and the shaft A in the direction S, they will each pass alternately in the subspace El
<EMI ID = 11.1>
time.
When a blade is in the subspace E1, the thrust of the wind promotes its rotation around X in the direction S, while when it is in the subspace E2, the same thrust slows down its rotation.

in the drawing, the pressure of the wind tends to make it turn around
of its axis Yl in the direction T so as to lift it and keep it more horizontal than if there was no wind. However, the presence of the stop Cl prevents this movement and maintains the blade in a vertical position making it thus offer

<EMI ID = 17.1>
When it arrived near the plane P, the wind blows <EMI ID = 18.1>
<EMI ID = 19.1>
around its axis Yl in the opposite direction of T or U.
This time the movement is not prevented by the stop Cl

similar to that shown in the drawing for the P3 blade.
Throughout its travel in the E2 subspace, the blade is

<EMI ID = 22.1> will pass back into the El subspace, the wind thrust

as shown in the drawing.
During its race in El, the thrust favoring its rotation in the S direction is greater than the thrust slowing down this rotation during its race in E2. This is due to the difference between the attack surfaces offered to the wind resulting from the inclination of the blades.

<EMI ID = 26.1>
hinder the lifting of the blades, when they are in
<EMI ID = 27.1>
To overcome this drawback, it is possible either to locate each blade relative to its axis so that it is not located on one side of the axis only, or to equip each blade with a counterweight, these two systems ensuring it , in its rotation around its horizontal axis, an indifferent or almost indifferent balance.
It must also be possible to interrupt the operation of the machine, even when it is windy. For this purpose, the shaft A can be provided with a braking system and the device which has

axes can be such that at any time it is possible to put it into action or out of action.
Thus, when it is put out of action, the blades can freely rotate around their respective axes and put themselves, because of the wind, in a horizontal position, whatever the subspace in which they are located. When it is reactivated, the rotation of the blades is again limited.
To increase the power of the device, the blades can be arranged over several stages.
To overcome the limitations that the weight of the blades imposes on their surface, the device can also include a support
