<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>

"INSTALLATION FOR THE HEATING OF RAW MATERIALS INTENDED FOR GLASS MELTING"
The present invention relates to an installation for heating raw materials intended for melting glass and comprising a melting furnace and a raw materials preheater mounted downstream of this melting furnace and to which is connected a conduit for the supply. waste gases from the oven.
In the glass industry, a relatively large amount of thermal energy is consumed for melting glass raw materials in a melting furnace, but the efficiency of melting furnaces is relatively poor, because the temperature of the waste gases from these furnaces is determined by the melting temperature of glass or its raw materials. Various tests have therefore been carried out to improve the overall efficiency of these smelting plants.
Consequently, in practice, there are attached to melting furnaces, for example, recuperators most often comprising two chambers which are lined with bricks accumulating heat, stacked accordingly, and which work in an alternately periodically. that one of the chambers is traversed, during a determined time interval, by the waste gases from the furnaces (which thus heat the bricks) to be evacuated through the chimney, while cold fresh air passes simultaneously through the second chamber and is heated to serve as combustion air for the melting furnace; under these conditions, a recovery chamber is therefore heated each time. alternately periodically by the residual gases from the furnace, at the same time as these residual gases give up a part
<EMI ID = 1.1>
that cooling of the heated bricks and simultaneous heating of the combustion air take place in the second chamber in parallel with the operations mentioned in the first place. Apart from the fact that a constant cyclic inversion of the recuperator chambers modifies the combustion temperature of the melting furnace, it has been observed that the efficiency cannot reach the desired level.
In other known devices, there has been mounted, upstream of the melting furnace, a tank intended for the preheating of the raw materials and in which the waste gases from the melting furnace are introduced and used to the maximum for the preheating of the raw materials. . However, it has also been found here that the thermal efficiency is still insufficient, given that this is added to the fact that these preheaters work insufficiently during a different distribution of the grain sizes, in that the fines dust particles are partly drawn off and the raw materials leaving the preheater frequently have an entirely different composition from that which they present when they enter the preheater.
These known heating devices are therefore relatively expensive having regard to the target efficiency which is still relatively low.
Under these conditions, the problem posed by the present invention consists in producing a device of the type described above, which is characterized, compared with known embodiments, in particular by its improved use of the thermal energy of the waste gases from the furnace and by a favorable size, the composition of the raw materials leaving the preheater largely corresponding, as to the size distribution
of its grains, to that of the raw materials entering the preheater.
This problem is solved, according to the invention, in this sense
that a fluidized bed preheater with a discharge lock serves as a raw material preheater and that a high efficiency dust collector, the dust discharge pipe of which is connected to the discharge lock
of the fluidized bed, is connected to the waste gas line of the fluidized bed preheater.
Thanks to the use of the fluidized bed preheater, it is possible to heat in an extremely regular manner the raw material supplied to the preheater by favorably using the thermal energy of the waste gases recovered from the furnace. Fine dust particles entrained by the waste gases from the fluidized bed preheater can be captured
in practice entirely by means of the high-efficiency dust collector, these fine dust particles separated from the waste gases intended for the preheater being then brought, due to the embodiment of the invention, directly to the discharge lock of the fluidized bed, which lock guarantees surely the sealing of said fluidized bed with respect to the discharge of raw materials. In this device according to the invention, therefore, in practice no loss of particles of the composition of the raw materials is observed, as it is brought to the fluidized bed and, on leaving the preheater, the raw materials have largely the same. composition of grain sizes than that with which they enter the fluidized bed preheater.
It should also be mentioned here that the raw materials to be introduced into the preheater are still subjected beforehand preferably to a draft to separate, for example, relatively coarse shards of glass, as well as other constituents which should not be preheated, and to supply them separately to the melting furnace, as has hitherto been done in practice.
In a heating installation comprising a recuperator through which the residual gases from the furnace pass, preheating the combustion air intended for the melting furnace, it is particularly advantageous, in accordance with the invention, for the duct supplying the waste gases from the furnace to connect the fluidized bed preheater at the recuperator.
Thanks to this design, the hot waste gases coming from the melting furnace, and which are still generally too hot for preheating the raw materials, are still used first of all in the recuperator for the preheating of the intended combustion air. to the melting furnace and are only subsequently supplied to the fluidized bed preheater, so that a particularly large use of the thermal energy of the waste gases from the furnace results therefrom and, consequently, an efficiency of the device according to the invention , considerably improved compared to known embodiments.
The invention is described in detail below with the aid of two exemplary embodiments represented in FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawings appended hereto.
The first embodiment of the heating device according to the invention, shown in FIG. 1, comprises a furnace 1, serving for the melting of raw materials which can be used for the manufacture of glass, a recuperator 2 through which the waste gases from the furnace pass and preheating the combustion air of the melting furnace, a fluidized bed preheater 3 connected to a duct 4 for supplying the waste gases from the furnace, as well as a high efficiency dust collector 5 connected to the fluidized bed preheater 3 by the waste gas pipe 6 of the latter.
For the cold raw materials to be introduced into the fluidized bed preheater 3, a supply hopper 7 is provided, below which is mounted a suitable metering device 8 (in this case, a metering conveyor belt, for example) which is connected with the entry lock 9 for raw materials
(for example, a double valve lock) of the fluidized bed preheater 3.
The outlet of the materials from the fluidized bed preheater 3 consists, according to the invention, of a fluidized bed discharge lock 10 which is connected, via a branch pipe 11, to an intermediate tank
12 receiving the preheated raw materials and below the outlet of which is mounted a withdrawal device 13 preferably suitable for dosing the raw materials and connected to the melting furnace 1 by a weir, a chute or the like 14.
The high-efficiency dust collector 5 consists of a bag filter or other suitable filter which reliably guarantees a practical separation.
<EMI ID = 2.1>
preheating. For the separated fine particles, the filter 5 comprises an accumulation auger 15, the discharge pipe 15a of which is connected, by a junction duct 16, to the discharge lock 10 of the fluidized bed. The waste gas pipe 6 of the fluidized bed preheater 3 is provided with an adjustable connection 6a for the introduction of cold air.
In this first embodiment (figure 1), the recuperator
2, mounted directly downstream of the melting furnace 1, is a conventional recuperator with two chambers 2a and 2b each traversed alternately periodically by the hot waste gases from the furnace and by the combustion air which is introduced - as air cold - by a tubular supply connection 17 and which is preheated in each of the corresponding chambers 2a and 2b before being transferred to the oven or to its burner. In order to periodically reverse the flow of combustion air and waste gas from the furnace, it is arranged, in the connection duct, between the two chambers 2a and
2b of the recuperator, a multiple-way valve 18 to which are additionally joined the tubular supply connector 17, as well as the end 4a of the pipe 4 for the introduction of the waste gases from the furnace.
In addition, at the end 4a of the duct 4 for supplying the residual gases from the furnace, there is preferably provided a connection duct
19 connected to a chimney 20 leading to the atmosphere. In order to be able to evacuate an adjustable quantity of residual gas to the atmosphere,
<EMI ID = 3.1>
appropriate places, to the connection duct 19 and to the duct 4 for the introduction of the residual gases from the furnace.
Given that in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the residual gases from the furnace have already undergone a certain cooling in the recuperator 2, it can be incorporated, in the duct 4 for the supply of the residual gases from the furnace, a fan 22 by which the waste gases can reach, at the necessary pressure, the grid 23 of the fluidized bed preheater 3, as well as the discharge lock 10 of the fluidized bed.
Regarding the embodiment of the fluidized bed preheater 3, it should still be mentioned, for completeness, that this preferably comprises only one chamber 3a for the fluidized bed and is designed as a fluidized bed. a chute through which the raw materials to be preheated are transferred regularly from the inlet to the outlet in a suitably fluidized state. It is also possible, of course, according to the invention, to use suitable fluidized bed preheaters , the shapes of which are different, embodiments comprising several fluidized bed chambers which may optionally be implemented.
The operation of the exemplary embodiment of the heating device described above is explained in detail in the text which follows. The raw materials intended for the melting of the glass leave the feed hopper 7 in the metered state to reach the fluidized bed preheater and move in the fluidized state regularly from the inlet to the outlet - as already mentioned above- above - during their preheating, at the same time that they are discharged from the preheater through the discharge chamber 10 of the fluidized bed without parasitic air being able to enter here into the fluidised bed preheater 3. In this discharge chamber of the bed fluidized, the fine particles, entrained by the waste gases from the preheater and separated in the filter 5, are also mixed simultaneously and regularly with
the remaining raw materials, so that the preheated raw materials, arriving at the intermediate tank 12, have in substance the same composition of grain sizes as that which they possessed when entering the fluidized bed preheater 3. Starting off From this intermediate tank 12, the preheated raw materials can reach, in the regularly metered state, the melting furnace 1, passing through the withdrawal device 13.
The waste gases from the melting furnace 1 are routed in an alternately periodic manner, as already described above, to
<EMI ID = 4.1>
first :: part of their thermal energy for preheating the air
combustion of the melting furnace. The waste gases necessary for preheating the raw materials are brought in, passing through the pipe
4 (and while being supported by the fan 22), to the fluidized bed preheater 3, that is to say in its pressure chamber 3b located below
of the grid 23, in order to impart a fluidized state to the raw materials deposited on the grid 23, to transfer them to the outlet 10 and to
reheat them as desired. The waste gases flowing upwards in the chamber 3a of the fluidized bed then reach the filter
5 in the manner described, cold air possibly still being introduced into the air exiting the preheater via the connection pipe 6a (in particular when there is a risk of damage to the parts of the filter 5 by following the temperature of this outgoing air).
In the known embodiments equipped with two-chamber recuperators, temperature variations, necessarily cyclic, are observed.
<EMI ID = 5.1>
periodical of the two chambers, corresponding temperature variations of the waste gases leaving the chambers also occurring simultaneously. If the operation of the fan 22 incorporated in the duct 4 for the introduction of the residual gases from the furnace remains unchanged, the heating temperature of the raw materials consequently adapts to that of the residual gases introduced and the consequence is that, for example,
the raw materials entering the melting furnace are proportionately hotter when the combustion temperature is relatively low, which means that a temporarily lower preheating of the combustion air to be introduced into the melting furnace (and thus a combustion temporarily lower) is compensated by a high preheating of the raw materials, so that the operation of the melting furnace is
in this way set - predominantly automatically.
FIG. 2 represents a second exemplary embodiment of the heating device according to the invention, some points of which are slightly modified compared to the first exemplary embodiment (FIG. 1).
In Figure 2, parts identical to those of Figure 1 are designated by the same reference numerals, so that their description can be largely waived in order to avoid repetitions.
The essential difference of this second exemplary embodiment consists in that the recuperator 20, through which the waste gases of the
furnace and preheating the combustion air of the melting furnace 1, is designed as an indirectly acting tubular heat exchanger, through which
the hot waste gases, coming from the melting furnace 1, pass constantly and regularly (without any inversion), then are fed
to a tubular system 31 through which the fresh or cold combustion air passes
which is heated there indirectly by the residual gases from the furnace before being introduced through a conduit 32 into the melting furnace or its burners (not shown in detail). The recuperator 30 is also connected, by a duct 33 for the introduction of the residual gases from the furnace (without the intercalation of a ventilateirr), directly to the fluidized bed preheater 3 or to its pressure chamber 3b '(below grid 23). As the waste gases from the furnace can still be relatively hot in this case compared to those of the embodiment of FIG. 1, it is generally recommended to coat the duct 33 for the supply of the waste gases in such a way that ! it is heat resistant, as indicated in part by the representation
<EMI ID = 6.1>
In addition, to avoid overheating in the fluidized bed preheater 3, as well as, where appropriate, an unwanted reaction of the raw materials by the action of excessively hot waste gases from the furnace, a corresponding fraction of these waste gases can be evacuated to the atmosphere (possibly via a chimney) passing through a branch duct 34 connected to the introduction duct 33, a fresh air inlet connector 35 being attached to the duct for introducing the waste gases 33 in the area upstream of the fluidized bed preheater 3
(in any case, in the area between the preheater 3 and the connection duct 34), so that the residual gases from the furnace flowing to the raw materials contained in the fluidized bed preheater 3 can be brought to the necessary temperature by addition and cold air mixture.
The necessary pressure, at which the waste gases from the furnace
are fed to the fluidized bed preheater, is produced in this case by a corresponding design of the fan 36 mounted downstream of the high efficiency dust collector 5.
Similarly, in this second exemplary embodiment, the outlet of the fluidized bed preheater 3 consists of a discharge lock 37 which, of
the same way as in the embodiment described above, is connected, by a connection duct 16, with the dust accumulation worm 15 of the filter 5, on the one hand as well as by the through the junction duct 11, with the intermediate reservoir 12, on the other hand. As in this exemplary embodiment shown in Figure 2, the fluidized state of the raw materials contained in the chamber 3a of the fluidized bed is maintained by the depression of the fan 36, it is necessary to connect the discharge lock 27 of the fluidized bed to a separate compressed air source. For this purpose, a compressed air connection duct is used
38 for the discharge chamber 37 of the fluidized bed, conduit 38 which can be connected
to a source of compressed air not shown in detail (for example, to an existing compressed air system or to a small additional fan).
In this exemplary embodiment of the invention, somewhat simplified as to the form of construction, there are preferably provided control instruments not shown in detail, which act on the throttle valves 39, 39a, 39b, incorporated into the introduction duct der. waste gas 33, to the branch line 34 and to the fresh air inlet tubular connection 35, so that any optimum temperature of the waste gases for heating the raw materials of the preheater 3 can be established; in this way, an approximately constant temperature also prevails in the melting furnace.
