<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>

<EMI ID=6.1>

<EMI ID=7.1>
<EMI ID=8.1>
<EMI ID=9.1>
<EMI ID=11.1>

Accumulator for straps <EMI ID = 1.1>
specially sheet metal strips, and comprises a row of stationary cylinders housed parallel to each other, and a row of deflection cylinders which are parallel to the stationary cylinders and are housed in a movable support, for example a serpentine carriage which can
move horizontally, and said deflection cylinders are offset with respect to the stationary cylinders to form a guide of the zig-zag strip.
In the continuous processes of strip rolling mills or other installations treating metal strips, a strip accumulator must be provided. We know accumulators for strips in the form of a serpentine tower,
<EMI ID = 2.1>
the. continuous operation of the strip in the operating part with continuous loading or unloading of the installation,
for example in the form of rolls. The accumulated strip feeds in this way the following station: treatment during an interrupted loading or when the strip is stopped.
Such strip accumulators are provided before
and behind a treatment station. While the accumulator on the incoming side must always be filled with strip, the strip accumulator on the outgoing side is only used, for example when inspecting the strip or when changing a roll and the strip is then running. stopped in the outgoing part of the installation so that the strip accumulator must collect the strip which continues to come out
from the treatment plant.
If one uses for a strip accumulator arranged on the outgoing side the serpentine carriages known heretofore for the accumulation of the strip, which can be moved vertically in winding turns, the disadvantage results that the strip must continuously rotate. around all the cylinders in the serpentine accumulator, regardless of whether the accumulator is running or empty. But because the serpentine accumulator is mostly empty in the outgoing part of an installation, the deflection cylinders are continuously subjected to stress <EMI ID = 3.1>
This results in reactions that are detrimental to the surface and the course of the strip which follows.
The object of the invention is to form a strip accumulator so as to avoid the disadvantages mentioned above and to eliminate unnecessary winding of the deflection rollers.
According to the invention this object is obtained in that the
Movable deflection cylinders are housed on lever arms of a cylinder carrier which, in the initial position of the latter, extend through the spaces between the stationary cylinders and the spaces between all cylinders are greater than
<EMI ID = 4.1>
deflection which moves during loop formation can be adjusted from the incoming side to a position which is in front of the row of stationary cylinders, when the movable cylinder carrier is in its initial position, until
<EMI ID = 5.1>
dre of deflection on the incoming side and a stationary cylinder
outside without forming loops passing close to the other stationary and mobile cylinders which are offset with respect to each other, without touching them.
<EMI ID = 6.1>
The strip is then gripped and guided only by a deflection cylinder and a stationary cylinder. The other deflection cylinders arranged on the serpentine carriage respectively on the mobile cylinder holder and on a stationary support are not in contact with the card. Only when
the serpentine carriage is set in motion for the accumulation of the strip, the mobile cylinders are introduced into the spaces between the stationary cylinders, forming loops and crossing said spaces. In this way there is still the advantage, that it is not necessary to guide the leaf:
around each cylinder when threading, which is a huge relief and simplification.
According to another embodiment of the invention, provision is made for the deflection cylinder on the incoming side to be housed in a stationary manner and that with a number n of cylinders

<EMI ID = 7.1>
provides that the rows of stationary and movable cylinders have the same number of cylinders and that the deflection cylinder on the incoming side is a movable outer cylinder, which is housed on the movable cylinder holder and off-axis with respect to the other deflection cylinders of the door -cylinders, in the direction of the formation of loops.
Because the strip moves at the speed of the installation, one must ensure that when the strip touches the deflection cylinders, the circumferential speed of the cylinders roughly matches the speed of the installation to avoid surface damage. As a result, the stationary rolls which are not in contact with the strip when the roll holder is in its initial position are provided with drive mechanisms, so that these rolls are accelerated to reach the speed of the strip.
. An embodiment of the invention will now be explained in greater detail with reference to the appended drawing in which the single figure shows a strip accumulator with a serpentine carriage.
<EMI ID = 8.1>
is not shown, arrives via the lower deflection cylinder 2 of a serpentine carriage 3 which comprises lever arms 3a,
3b, 3c and whose displacement in the opposite direction to the direction
of movement is maximum in the initial position shown in the idle state, at a stationary deflection cylinder 4 where the strip 1 leaves the loop accumulator. The deflection cylinder 4 is housed or formed as a stationary outer cylinder in the cylinder holder which is well anchored in a foundation,
so that the cylinder has an advance R with respect to the other deflection cylinders 6.7 housed in the cylinder holder 5. This cylinder could as well have a larger diameter than
the other cylinders. This also applies to the cylinder
<EMI ID = 9.1>
serpenting 3, which is also off-axis by forming an advance R with respect to the other deflection cylinders 8,9 which are located in the serpentine carriage. In the empty state of the accumulator- <EMI ID = 10.1>
of deflection 2 and 4 without bypassing the deflection cylinders 6,7,8,9, remaining without touching them.
As soon as it is necessary to also stop the running of the strip in the outgoing part of an installation
-of strip, the serpentine carriage 3 must come into operation.
For this, the serpentine carriage 3 is moved on rails or wheels 10 in the running direction of the strip, and it follows that the deflection cylinders 8 and 9 enter, under formation of loops, in the spaces between the cylinders. stationary 4.6 respectively 6.7. The movable deflection cylinder 2
on the incoming side protrudes cylinder 7 and also forms a loop.
As a result, the deflection cylinders 6,7,8,9 which have been accelerated to the speed of the strip using drive mechanisms not shown, come into contact with the strip 1 and are bypassed by it. . The strip 1 is driven
by the serpentine carriage 3 and in this way the accumulation
<EMI ID = 11.1>
serpentine 3 is shown in dashed lines.
When starting again de'la walking of the strip, one uses first 1 '-accumulation stored by moving the serpentine carriage 3 in a direction opposite to that of. running the tape in an empty position, so that the tape 1 is again deflected only by rolls 2 and 4 while the remaining deflection rolls are stopped.
Of course, various modifications can be made by those skilled in the art to the devices which have just been described by way of nonlimiting examples without departing from the scope of the invention.
