Abstract

A simple and instantaneous reading of the angle of a body w.r.t. the vertical or horizontal planes is often required. A transparent disc graduated in degrees is mounted on a rectangular block with a pointer (4) which rotates freely and is concentric to the disc. The pointer always points vertically due to a weight (5e mounted in the lower arm. Two other arms (6) are at right angles to the pointer. The pointer assembly is mounted on a shaft (8) by means of a bearing (7), in a hole within the rectangular block so that it reads directly the graduated scale.

Description

 <EMI ID=2.1>

  "Device allowing the direct reading of the angle made by an object with the vertical or the horizontal

The invention relates to an apparatus for the direct reading of the angle made by an object with the vertical or the horizontal.

The object of the invention is = to provide an apparatus of simple design and easy to produce which instantly gives the degree of declivity or of inclination of an object, a straight line or a plane.

For this purpose the apparatus according to the invention essentially comprises a transparent disc graduated in degrees and, mounted to rotate freely and <EMI ID = 1.1>

stand in all circumstances vertically.

In an advantageous embodiment the aforementioned needle is weighted in its extension located beyond its point of rotation.

 <EMI ID = 2.1>

extending at right angles to either side of the aforementioned point of rotation.

Other details and advantages will emerge from the description which will be given below of an apparatus according to the invention. This description is given only by way of example and does not limit the invention. Reference notations relate to the attached figures.

FIG. 1 shows the graduated disc belonging to the apparatus according to the invention. FIG. 2 shows the mobile needle extracted from the apparatus according to the invention. FIG. 3 shows a support part in which the apparatus according to the invention is housed.

The apparatus shown according to these figures and in particular the support part 1 may be of any type other than the rectangular parallelepiped shown. The support piece 1 must have an orifice allowing the mounting of the transparent disc 2 or of a glass on which

is reproduced a graduation. The graduation in degrees, from 0 to 360, is reproduced at the limit of circle 3, whose radius length is practically identical to that of needle 4. This needle is weighted by a mass 5 placed beyond the axis of rotation of the needle. This needle has two arms 6 which extend at right angles to either side of needle 4.

The assembly, called needle, but consisting of needle 4 and arms 6, is mounted by means of a ball bearing 7 on an axis 8 which is extended by a square or rectangular section fitting into a housing 9 of the disc 2. The axis 8 can be fixed by any means known per se on the disc 2 or on a disc protecting the needle 4, not shown in the drawings.

It will be understood that the reading of the inclination or the declivity of a straight line, of a plane or of any object can be read easily and directly by transparency through the graduated disc 2 with regard to which the weighted needle 4, which always occupies a vertical position, immediately indicates the desired number of degrees.

The disc 2 and the needle 4 have been shown, mounted in a support part 1, made of wood, plastic or metal, having the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped. It is obvious that any other support of different shape may be suitable to serve as housing.

to the measuring device according to the invention.
