Abstract

Joint comprises (a) a structure consisting of a bevelled threaded pipe part and a threaded tubular sleeve coupling of the same thread pitch, with a non-threaded inner surface widening out and extending parallel but at constant slope from the bevel profile formed from the crests of the threads, (b) an internal annular groove machined in the sleeve coupling and receiving a PTFE packing, (c) a first forced metal-to-metal joint between the widening surface of the sleeve and the external surface of the front section of the pipe which has the same bevel slope and axial length as the widening surface of the sleeve, the joint being formed as the connection is assembled, and (d) a second joint formed by the PTFE packing and the front end of the threaded part.
