Abstract

The antigenic material is prepd. from pore-forming strains of Pasteurella multocida or P.haemolytica, pref. using the serotype(s) of greatest use. The organism is incubated in a suitable medium, harvested, (opt.) lysed, and endotoxin pptd. with a miscible organic solvent, or a salt e.g. (NH4)2 SO4. Further solvent or salt then gives the antigen as a ppt., when is isolated and the vaccine prepd.
