Abstract
Silanes and siloxanes of formula: CnF2n-1 RaCmH2mSi R'bXcO3-b-c/2 where R=divalent grp., R'=monovalent hydrocarbon grp., X=hydrolysable grp. (esp. (m)ethoxy or Cl), n=8, 10 or 12, a = 0 or 1, m = 2,3 or 4, b=0, 1 or 2, c=0,1,2 or 3 and b+c is not >3. The products can be made e.G. by reacting an unsatd. tetrafluoroethylene oligomer CnF2n where n=8, 10 or 12 with a (substituted) allylphenol in the pres. of a catalyst and reacting the product with a silane or siloxane with at least one Si-bound H atom. The products are useful as foam suppressors, esp. in non-aqs. systems, as release agents, for rendering glass surfaces hydrophobic or oleophobic, and for treating fillers such as glass for incorporation into granular fluorocarbon polymers.
