Abstract

Disposable plastic coffee filters are produced by (a) placing a sheet of filter material between two fitting die parts, one part forming the filter bottom with openings, and the other part forming the filter cover, (b) pressing the two die parts against each other so that a disc is cut from the sheet at the place where the filter bottom passes into the filter wall, and (c) introducing a plastic material into the die parts, so that the disc of filter material becomes situated above the filter bottom and fastened in the hardened wall of the filter. The filter is completely sealed and coffee cannot flow between the filter wall and the periphery of the filter disc.
