Abstract

Fuel/water emulsion for shaft, esp blast furnaces is formed by passing liquid fuel into a suitable enclosure in which it is submitted to a jet of water vapour whose proportions of mass, temp and pressure are such that it condenses rapidly after reaching the fuel, to form an emulsion. Pref. the fuel is pulverised e.g. mechanically before being contacted by the water vapour which is in the form of a curtain against and through which the pulverised fuel is projected.
