<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Un dispositif conforme à l'invention est représenté à titre d'exemple non limitatif sur les dessins ci-joints dans lesquels: la figure 1 représente une coupe axiale au travers d'une ar- ticulation à joint de Cardan d'un dispositif d'accouplement selon l'invention; la figure 2 représente une coupe selon 11-11 de la figure 1; la figure 3 représente un autre mode de réalisation d'une arti- culation à joint de Cardan dans une représentation conforme à celle de la figure 1; la figure 4 représente un joint d'étanchéité d'une articulation à joint de Cardan selon la figure 3 et dans un état détendu; la figure 5 représente un joint d'étanchéité selon la figure 4 en vue axiale;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Les goujons 6 sont logés par l'intermédiaire de leurs extrémités radiales extérieures dans des alésages 8 correspondants de l'an- neau 3 de l'articulation;

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

an intermediate ring of a diameter smaller than the ring 3, the latter having a cylindrical inner and outer surface; the axial thickness of the intermediate ring 4 is smaller than that of the ring 3 constituting the articulation ring.
The intermediate ring 4 comprises in its middle and between its two end faces two bores 5 having the same axis arranged perpendicular to the axis of the ring 4 bores into which penetrates through its inner radial end, a pin 6 so that the inner radial end face of each stud 6 does not protrude beyond the inner surface ± of the ring 4
The studs 6 are housed by means of their outer radial ends in corresponding bores 8 of the ring 3 of the joint;
the studs 6 can be movably accommodated either in the intermediate ring 4 or in the articulation ring 3 so that the intermediate ring 4 is articulated with respect to the articulation ring 3 around of a perpendicular axis

The other end of the transmission shaft 1 is also provided with a joint 4 Cardan joint (not shown) similar to that of Figures 1 and 2 to allow the transmission of movement from a drive shaft.
The transmission shaft 1o is constituted by a smooth shaft.
All the studs 6 have substantially equal diameters.
The intermediate ring 4 can be made in a simple manner in bronze, brass and for example be a section of tube; as all the elements transmitting forces are round, their realization is particularly easy and moreover they allow a very good transmission of forces *
The sealing of each cardan joint can be achieved by means of a gasket of a connecting tube between the joints or similar manner; such a Cardan seal provided with a gasket 16 is shown in Figures 3 to 5.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the hinge ring 3a has the form of a casing having a mean section 17 greater than the outside diameter of the remainder of the casing.
On one side of section 17 is arranged a flange 18, the front face of which has a centering shoulder 19 for centering the flanged end 2a of the rotor 1a.
Threads are provided in the flange 18 for fixing screws 20 distributed over the perimeter, and of axis parallel to the axis of the casing 3a. the heads of these screws being placed in the casing 3a opposite the intermediate ring 4a.

As is further shown in Figure 3, the supernatant. outer face 15a of the intermediate ring 4a is spherical in shape.
The diameter of this sphere corresponds to the inside diameter of the envelope of the joint 3a so that the intermediate ring 4a is fixed in translation with respect to the envelope 3a and this whatever the position of the intermediate ring a . against displacements in the axial direction of the studs 6
The end of the transmission shaft 10a has a corresponding spherical part 11a the axis of the housings 12a intended for the studs 13a passing through the center of this spherical section so that the transmission shaft 10a is also blocked. - qué in translation with respect to the intermediate ring 4a against the
displacements in the direction of the axis of the studs 13a
On the inner face of the casing ± of the joint, located on the side of the intermediate ring 4a, opposite the transmission shaft 10a, there is provided a housing forming an annular groove 21 of rectangular section whose side walls are arranged in planes perpendicular to the median axis of the casing 3 of the joint. A corresponding annular groove 22 is provided substantially opposite the previous groove made in the shaft 10a, the side walls of this groove 22 being arranged in planes perpendicular to the median axis.
In the annular grooves 21 and 22 is fixed a seal 16 which comprises an outer radial annular flange, directed radially outwards, as well as an inner annular radial flange 24 directed radially inward. the annular rim 23 being fixed by prestressing in the annular groove 21 and the annular rim 24 being fixed in the same way in the annular groove 22.
There is provided an intermediate annular section 25 disposed between the annular flanges 24 and 23 and having substantially the shape of a "U"; this section being elastic or flexible,

As shown in figure 4, the legs 26 of the gasket 16 form when the gasket is relaxed, an acute angle so that the flanges 23 and 24 are directed in opposite directions and therefore the flanges 23 and 24 form an obtuse angle.
When mounting the seal according to Figures 4 and 5 on a Cardan joint according to Figure 3, the annular edges 23 and 24 are subjected to a stress directed in the opposite direction so that they are applied in their respective annular grooves 21 and 22.
In addition, the legs 26 of the intermediate section 25 also subjected to stress rest against the inner surface of the casing 3a of the joint and against the surface of the drive shaft 10a.
In addition, in order to increase the safety of the seal 16 with respect to the casing 3 of the articulation, and with respect to the transmission shaft 10a, the depth of the grooves 21 and 22 of so that the flanges 23 and 24 cannot come out of these grooves during the movements of the joint * The stress by which the sealing gasket 16 is fixed in the grooves 21 and 22 is all the greater as the seal is larger
As further shown in Figure 3,
the envelope 3a of the joint extends beyond the seal 16 by a sufficient length,

iodine -the embodiment shown in Figure @ comprises seals 16b near the two ends of the transmission shaft 10b these seals being arranged as shown. in figure 3
A connecting tube 27 is provided between the Cardan joint joints located at the ends of the transmission shaft 10b
The studs 6b allowing the hinged housing of the intermediate ring 4b on the casing 3b of the joint are fixed to this casing 3b by means of screws 28 each pin 6b thus comprises a screw 28 arranged coaxially, the latter. ci being screwed into stud 6b from the outer surface.
The rotor of the eccentric screw 1b is arranged in a rotor housing 30 provided with a suction port 29,
The transmission shaft 10b as well as the two articulations with Cardan joint are arranged in the housing of the rotor 30 adjacent to the suction housing 31 of the pump, so that they are surrounded by a medium comprising many impurities.
The joints are sealed with respect to the internal volume of the suction casing 31 on the one hand by the sealing gaskets 16b and on the other hand, by the union using a sealed flange of the rotor 1b and motor shaft 32.
As the gaskets 16b are located in the casing 3b of the joint, they feel largely protected against damage by foreign bodies.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown above from which other embodiments and other embodiments can be provided without departing from the scope of the invention.
