<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

L'invention sera de toutes façons bien comprise en se référant à la description qui va suivre, faite en regard des dessins annexés dans lesquels : - la figure 1 est une coupe verticale du générateur selon l'invention, avec cylindre et chicanes horizontales, pour la circulation de l'eau autour du faisceau de tuyaux ; - la figure 2 est une coupe horizontale dans les moyens de collectage, d'aspiration et d'évacuation des gaz de combustion ; - la figure 3 est une coupe verticale du générateur . avec des chicanes intérieures pour la circulation entrecroisée- ascendante de l'eau ; - la figure 4 est une vue d'un tube-foyer, avec le tuyau, le manchon réfractaire et le brûleur sectionnés ; - la figure 5 est une vue de face du tuyau du dispo- sitif d'allumage simultané ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Ainsi, n'importe quelle quantité de gaz non brûlas, échappée au hasard du brûleur, a tendance à monter et à quitter le générateur et ne peut donc pas s'accumuler dans le tube-foyer. c) Un dispositif d'allumage simultané, à partir d'une flamme pilote, de tous les brûleurs, muni d'une flamme de propa- gation ayant la forme d'une bande continue et étroite, combinée . des flammes longue:;
! d'allumage, pour chaque brûleur, Pour la transmission de la flamme d'allumage, des tuyaux 9 sont prévus, Ainsi que le montrent les figures 1 et 5, en longueur, et les figures 6a et 6b, en coupe, ces tuyaux 9 sont munis d'une fente étroite 92' qui donne une flamme de propagation 93' à bande conti..
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>

Il Generator ignitubularre, multifr, yer., With intensive heat transfer, for the production of hot and superheated water ".
The present invention relates to a fire-tube generator, multifocal, for the production of hot and superheated water, with intensive heat transfer, achieved by increasing the efficiency of the constituent parts and by their judicious combination.
During the last two decades, the generators of hot or superheated water, of, average thermal powers (0.2-5 Gcal / h) have presented many improvements, in particular as regards the intensification of the heat transfer by disturbance of the flow of combustion gases.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Variants of aquatubular generators have thus been produced, with a heating surface by spiral pipes, in which the water is subjected to forced circulation, the combustion gases circulating at relatively high speeds outside the groups of coils. The generators produced are of compact form, but nevertheless use a complicated execution technology, involving high thermal stresses in the hearth and in the first gas path, which necessitates the use of special, refractory and stainless steels, even as protection by chamottage of the walls not cooled by water. The heat transfer of the exchange surfaces by convection reaches values of the order of 28,000 Keal / m2L.
In the field of ignitubular generators, two types of technical solutions similar to that adopted in the present invention have been approached with a view to intensifying the heat transfer. The first solution consists in using heating surfaces by tubes with non-circular sections having special profiles intended to increase the turbulence in the circulation of the combustion gas.
Such pipes are quite difficult to manufacture while the corresponding generators could only achieve a transfer of 20,000-25,000 Kcal / m2h. The second solution is to use smooth and wide pipes, for which the thermal transfer of heat is intensified by the humming of the combustion gases with the help of bodies, of various shapes such as: wire, series of discs, bands twisted, or even cast iron swirl bodies introduced into the flues. This path has led to simpler constructive solutions and the achievement of compact worshipers.
According to
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
@ shape, arrangement and material of the swirl bodies, higher heat transfers were obtained, up to 35,000 Kcal / m2h.
The constructions run have adopted, depending on the solid, liquid or gaseous fuel used, but also according to other considerations, either the single hearth which occupies an additional space, or multiple hearths, which saves this space. . The arrangement of the hearth or hearths is carried out either at the bottom of the boiler, or in a horizontal position, the gases circulating in the same direction as the water or against the current.
The realized types of multi-hearth generators, equipped with metallic swirling elements, have presented a series of disadvantages which result from the contact of the flame with the cooled wall of the flue pipes, which leads to negative effects on the gas pipe. combustion process, which may be incomplete.
The generators were fitted with automatic functioning devices, protective devices, and possibly also automatic starting and stopping devices. the present invention relates to a hot water or superheated water generator with steam emulsion. This generator is multifocal and ignitubular, heated by a gaseous fuel, with countercurrent circulation of the water and swirling of the combustion gases, which considerably improves the known generators of this type, by solutions. .- .; new constructives and by improving the efficiency of the constituent parts, taken separately, as well as by their judicious combination.

The invention will in any case be well understood by referring to the description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawings in which: FIG. 1 is a vertical section of the generator according to the invention, with cylinder and horizontal baffles, for circulation of water around the bundle of pipes; - Figure 2 is a horizontal section through the means for collecting, sucking and discharging the combustion gases; - Figure 3 is a vertical section of the generator. with interior baffles for cross-ascending water circulation; - Figure 4 is a view of a hearth tube, with the pipe, the refractory sleeve and the burner cut; FIG. 5 is a front view of the pipe of the simultaneous ignition device;
- The fibers 6a and 6b are cross sections, in the pipe of the simultaneous ignition device; FIG. 7 is a side view with partial cut away of the generator given as an exemplary embodiment; and, - Figure 8 is a top view with partial cutaway of the same generator.
The generator corresponding to the invention is composed, in accordance with Figures 1 and 3 which show it in vertical section, of the following parts: a) a pressurized body executed as a tubular, cylindrical, vertical heat exchanger, having a plurality or bundle of straight pipes 6, parallel, wide and smooth.
The water introduced at the lower part, through connection 11, is heated to the required temperature, during circulation
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
towards the upper part of the body under pressure. The circulation is maintained by means of direction and possibly homogenization of the temperature of the water. As means of direction and homogenization, internal baffles were used as 2 'for the crisscross - upward direction of the water circulation or the uniform distribution around the bundle of pipes by means of a cylinder. and certain horizontal circular chisels 2, as in figure 1, with holes concentric with the pipes and a little larger than the outside diameter of the latter.
The pipes 6 of the bundle are arranged as hearth tubes, as in FIG. 4, and have at their upper part a short tubular hearth formed by an internal refractory sleeve 61, for the improvement of combustion. From this focus, the gases descend to the lower end, where they are sucked; circulation of the combustion gases is directed in a vortex fashion, in the remainder of the hearth tube, by compact, refractory, swirling cylindrical elements 62, introduced into the pipes and provided on their cylindrical face with channels open helical 63.
It is known that in such channels, the combustion gases prolong their course, acquire a radial density gradient, an increased speed, an intense vortex and exert pressure on the wall of the pipe, which favors the transfer. In order that the speed is, as much as possible, constant over the entire path of the combustion gases, the passage section varies over the length of the path so as to unify the speed which tends to decrease with the decrease the temperature of the combustion gases, with the decrease in volume and increase in their density.
This was achieved by the corresponding variation
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
of the section, either by varying the pitch of the channel which winds the refractory cylinder, or by varying the height. To increase the heat transfer by the effect of radiation, these elements are black in color, which affects the power of emission by radiation.
The intensive heat transfer carried out under the conditions indicated, allows the cooling of the combustion gas in the tubes of the furnace, from a combustion temperature of approximately 1450 to 1500 C, at an evacuation temperature outside the tubes. focus of about 150 C over a short path measured vertically. This situation allows the bundle of straight pipes to be traversed only once by the combustion gases, without any return, which allows the body under pressure to have a low height.
The lining sleeves of the hearth itself and of the swirling elements which fill the rest of the hearth tubes are made, in accordance with the invention, of refractory materials having the following qualities: high resistance in a superheated oxidizing atmosphere, high resistance to thermal shock of heating and cooling, a sufficiently high melting temperature, a high power due to the black color and a high content of catalytic elements in order to promote combustion.
These qualities ensure that the refractory materials have a long working period in oxidizing gases and they can be subjected to sudden temperature variations without noticeable defernation or degradation. These materials amplify heat transfer by radiation, promote reignition of the gaseous fuel mixture when it goes out for whatever reason. conch, avoid the production of misfires, stabilize and promote the combustion process, and increase the operational safety of the generator.
The action of catalytic additive materials on
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
As a result, complete combustion and therefore the absence on the walls of the helical channels of any remains of unburned carbon. As refractory materials having these qualities, the following were used: - aluminous masses, with a high black corundum content; - refractory concretes, formed from refractory cements with a high content of black corundum aggregates.
As catalytic additions to these materials, metal oxides of Ni, Cr, V, Mo, Th, Fe have been used in small amounts and mixed in various proportions.
To facilitate the execution of assembly or disassembly and periodic inspection in the hearth tubes, the swirling elements of a tube are made in several parts and provided with devices for their assembly in corresponding relative positions.
Under these conditions, the service life of swirl element sleeves made from ceramic materials is a few years.
Thanks to the complete combustion of the residues deposited on the swirling elements, constituting a self-cleaning effect, frequent checks and cleaning devices thereof are eliminated.
By the internal equipment with sleeves and vortex refractory elements as well as by the presence of water on their exterior part, the bundle pipes can be made of non-alloy steel, generally used in the construction of boilers. b) a plurality of fuel gas burners 7, one for each hearth tube, arranged, in the extension of the axis, at each upper end of these tubes 6.
The burns
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
their 7 are supplied, by the distribution pipes of a single distributor 8, The burners can be provided, on their distribution pipe, with an individual fine adjustment valve, for legalization of their supply,
For the equipment of the generator, any known type of gas burner is used, with aspirated air, which produces a flame with a somewhat divergent and short cone, within the limits of the length of the hearth 61, of the hearth tube. 6.
The assembly b formed by the small distributor, the distribution pipes to the burners and the burners themselves is provided with Means for removing them collectively, by lifting or tilting, in order to allow the control of the sockets and the swirling elements, out fire tubes.
By mounting the burners at the upper end of the hearth tubes, the possibility of extinguishing the vapor contained in the combustion gases by the condensed water when the fire is started or when the generator is operating at thermal power is eliminated. reduced, when the temperature of the exhaust gas may fall below the dew point. In addition, by superior co-mounting the generator is protected against explosions.
Thus, any quantity of unburned gas escaping at random from the burner tends to rise and leave the generator and therefore cannot accumulate in the hearth tube. (c) A device for simultaneous ignition, from a pilot flame, of all the burners, provided with a propagation flame in the form of a continuous and narrow band, combined. long flames :;
! ignition, for each burner, For the transmission of the ignition flame, pipes 9 are provided, As shown in Figures 1 and 5, in length, and Figures 6a and 6b, in section, these pipes 9 are provided with a narrow slit 92 'which gives a flame spreading 93' with continuous band.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
naked and narrow. This flame spreads easily further, even beyond isolated points of the slit. Opposite each burner, the narrow slot 92 is pierced with an orifice of greater width 94 'from which a longer ignition flame 95 is obtained which is necessary for the ignition of the burner.
The gas pipes 9 are supplied with gas by gas pipes, having a smaller diameter 9, mounted cocentrically, inside the slotted pipes and provided with orifices 96 'at large intervals through which the gas enters. in the space between the two pipes 9 and 91 'at reduced flow, thus determining a low gas pressure in the pipes 9.
Apart from the increased safety of the simultaneous and rapid ignition of all the burners, the ignition device reduces the ignition gas consumption by about 80%, compared to those usually used in which the flame is transmitted. by a series of small equidistant holes. d) a plurality of cooling devices which aim, on the one hand, to preheat and direct the secondary air in a suitable direction, in order to ensure a homogeneous mixture with the combustible gas and to increase the efficiency. . cited from combustion in the hot secondary air, and on the other hand to cool the ends of the pipes which protrude from the upper tube plate 64 'to lead to the weld bead and the circular portion around the hearth tube, portions which risk the most from being overheated.
The cooling of the portions shown with the sucked air causes at the same time its preheating by its contact at high speeds with the hot surfaces.
These devices consist for each pipe 6, in accordance with Figures 1 and 4, of short larger pipe fittings d, placed on the tube plate 3, concentric
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
to the connections 6. The secondary combustion air, used in the burners 7, enters through this and the connection d, thus cooling the outer ends 64 of the pipes 6, Here weld bead and the circular portions of the plate tubular, c) means for compensating for the differences in thermal expansion, between the plurality of hearth tubes 6 with their tube plate 4 and the mantle of the body under pressure.
Known means of compensation such as bellows or buckles made of sheet steel applied to the assembly between the tube plate 4 and the mantle 1 can be used for this purpose. At certain thermal and pressure regimes, these means can be eliminated. . f) means for collecting, sucking and discharging under equal drawing conditions of the combustion gases which open out at the lower end of the plurality of hearth tubes 6, assembled means h. lower body under pressure a.
These means are shown in Figure 1, as well as in the horizontal section AA of Figure 2 and its consist of the following: the conical-cylindrical chamber 5 for collecting the combustion gases, the annular slot 51, the latter. ci communicating with the outer cylindrical chamber 10, mounted eccentrically with respect to the previous one, at constant height and connected laterally, opposite the maximum free cross section, by connection 12, to the suction of the centrifugal draft fan 13. The gases collected in chamber 5, directed by the conical deflector 11, pass uniformly distributed through the slot 51 which is located between the two chambers.
Having an increasing section in the direction of circulation of
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
gas to the fan, this space ensures the correct totalization of the flow rates resulting from the uniform flow of the combustion gases, through the slot 51 between the two chambers. The throttling of the combustion gases passing through the slot creates an increased local resistance which has the effect of equalizing the pressure of the combustion gases in the collecting chamber 5. The combustion gases are discharged by the fan 13 in the evacuation channel 14. In the connection 12 are the flaps !:
radial 15, the adjustment of which varies the gas flow drawn in by the fan and the secondary air flow to the burners
By these means, the gases coming from the fire tubes 6 are provided with practically equal draft conditions, which allow this plurality of tubes to suck up equal amounts of combustion air and burn equal amounts of gas.
As a result, the hearth tubes operate at equal thermal powers and with uniform heat transfers.
Stuff that, as has been shown, the combustion gases have given way in the body under pressure a, during the passage through the hearth tubes 6, the greater part of their heat and are cooled to below 150 C, the flue gas collection, suction and evacuation cores can be made of ordinary carbon steels, without refreeting and even without thermal insulation.
The generator is equipped with known means of automatic adjustment of the operation at variable thermal powers, by varying the flow rate of the gases distributed rar the single distributor 8 and that of the fuel gases, by controlling the radial flaps 15, as a function of the temperature of the water, kept constant at the outlet 12 of the body under pressure a, respectively: nen4ll- at the level of the thermal load
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
momentary moment of the generator. At the same time, the @ adjustment of the proportion of combustion air and combustible gas consumed is also carried out.
Among the known means of adjustment, pneumatic means have been used for high powers to which the actuation energy is supplied by the internal sources of pressure and vacuum and electrical means for low powers.
Likewise, known means of protection of the generator are provided with the Rentes indicating devices on a panel fixed to the body under pressure a.
The generator is started and stopped manually for high power ones and automatically for low power ones.
The stability of the combustion and the operational safety of the generator mean that its operation is carried out with relatively simple means.
It should be mentioned, however, that the generator can also be operated exclusively manually with optimal operation and under conditions of complete safety stability. This possibility represents an advantage in the event of certain defections of the automatic adjustment equipment.
No metal part of the generator must necessarily be made of special, refractory or stainless steels.
The masonry and refractory linings of the generator are removed. The generator only requires thermal insulation of the metal jacket 1 of the pressure body a.
The generator according to the invention, intended for the production of superheated water, with steam emulsion, can also
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
be employed in the known manner, for the production of steam. For this purpose and in the context of the installation, a superheated water and steam separator is also used; the superheated excess water is recycled and supplies the pressure body through connection 11.
The generator can also be supplied with liquid fuel. In this case, burners with individual or central spraying are chosen, which give a flame with a slightly flared and short cone and whose ignition is carried out and supported by an automatic device for producing electric sparks.
Under the conditions of association and operation, in accordance with the invention, these component parts combined a to f, the generator provides, at nominal thermal power, a thermal efficiency dE: 94%. In addition, the thermal performance is kept very high with reduced loads. Thus, at a thermal power of only 40% of the nominal power, the efficiency of. generator exceeds 90%.
Likewise, a very high heat transfer is achieved, through the surfaces of the hearth tubes, of 60,000 to 75,000 Kcal / m2h, which far exceeds the known achievements in the field of hot and superheated water generators and which develop thermal powers. nuclei up to about 5 Gcal / h.
The pressure drop on the water side is reduced to only 2.5 m neck. of water envircn. The generator thus operates without its own pump for transporting water. The electrical power consumed for the transport of the combustion gases is likewise reduced, by approximately 6 kW for a thermal power of approximately 2 Gcal / h.
