<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Process for heating materials in manufacturing units.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention relates to the chemical and petroleum processing industry, and more particularly to the methods of heating materials in the manufacturing units of these industries.
A method of heating materials in the furnaces of manufacturing units is known in which the calories resulting from the combustion of the fuel are transmitted to the materials in question, directly or via a heat exchange surface.
Before this operation, the materials are preheated to a temperature not exceeding 200-300 0 by the exhaust calories from the manufacturing processes or heat engines. For example, in the petroleum processing industry, the treated raw material is preheated by the hot products of petroleum treatment or by steam from the steam turbines of thermal power stations which is then fed to the tubular towers. .
If the process in question is applied, the heat energy corresponding to the interval between the combustion temperature of the fuel and that of the technological process remains unused, hence. irrational use of fuel. In addition, the presence of flame furnaces on the territory of chemical or petroleum processing factories necessitates the reinforcement of fire-fighting measures, which translates into an increase in the distances separating technological devices and an extension of the manufacturing area.
The aim of the present invention is to remedy the drawbacks mentioned above and to develop a method of heating materials in manufacturing units which would allow the energy of the fuel to be used at high speed. tible consumed to supply factories with calories and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
energy, while eliminating the need to have flame ovens on the territory of companies.
In accordance with the invention, this is obtained by the fact that, as heating gas, use is made of the gases leaving the turbines in which additional fuel has burned. During the combustion of the fuel in the exhaust gases, the oxidation is provided by the oxide remaining included in these gases. The temperature of the gases will then be raised to the value essential for carrying out the technological process, and the calories of these gases are used for heating the materials, directly or with the aid of an intermediate coolant. As intermediate heat transfer medium, it is possible, for example, to use superheated water vapor under high pressure. The temperature and pressure of the superheated steam will then be chosen as a function of the heating temperature of the materials in the manufacturing unit.
Considering the low price of gas turbines in comparison with steam turbines / investments for the application of the process according to the invention will be considerably reduced.
When heating the raw material in the manufacturing unit to 350-500 * 0, the amount of electrical energy produced by the generators rotated by the steam turbines is of the order of 400 to 1400 kWh. For each giogacalorie (Gcal) of useful heat consumed. For the production of electrical energy, 390 to 470 kcal are expended for each kWh, which corresponds to an electrical energy production efficiency of 0.45 to 0.55.
The saving in the overall consumption of calories for carrying out the manufacturing processes and the production of electrical energy is of the order of 0.2 - 0.5 Gcal for a calorie of useful heat consumed in the production unit.
