L'expérience a duré 13 jours.

There were twenty birds in each compartment and the average weight per bird was 35.5 gravimes. Each bird was orally inoculated with 0.2 cc of a culture of Salmonella qallinarum containing 4 x 106 viable organisms.
Some chicks received the active ingredient in a normal "early age" ration from a chick, while others received the active ingredient in the water they drank. Chicks fed with medicated water were given non-medicated feed, while chicks fed medicated feed were given non-medicated water. A third group of infected chicks still received no medication in their water or food, and were used as a contaminated control. The experiment lasted 13 days. The results of this experiment, as well as the concentration and amount of drug consumed, can be found in Table I.
It can be seen from Table I that the drug administered in water was much more active than that administered in food. The ED9O (dose necessary to preserve 90% of contaminated chicks) was approximately 17.3 mg / kg / day in the feed, while in water it was approximately 10.0 mg / kg / day .

ACTION OF THE 1- t 5-Nio-x-uitAeEFmE) -2-. ETHYLSEMICARBAZONE ADMINISTERED IN DRINKING WATER IN COMPARISON WITH ITS ACTION IN
THE FOOD OF CHICKENS CONTAMINATED BY E. TENELLA
In this experiment, which lasted eight days, fourteen day old Kimber Loghorn roosters were used.
The chicks were divided into groups in individual compartments each containing 20 birds, the average weight per bird being 127 g. Each chick was contaminated orally. with about 100,000 sporulated E.tenella oocytes. Some chicks received the drug in a chick's normal First Age feeding ration, while others received the drug dissolved in water. A third group was still used as a contaminated control and neither its food nor its water was medicated. The results of this experiment, as well as the concentration and amount of drug consumed, can be found in * Deaths / total chicks per group.
