<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>

suspended under the frame 18. The extraction device comprises a pair of advancement devices 21-21, each of which is equipped with a series of grippers or gripping blocks 22 which grip the molded article. having at the outlet of the molding device 17 and serving to exit said article out of the molding channel 'of the molding device,
thereby attracting other reinforcing elements and liquid resin into the molding channel according to a process which will be discussed later.
Since the apparatus is thus described by the description given above, certain characteristics appearing in FIGS. 4a and 4b should be considered more especially. Starting with the molding device itself, it can be seen that the device 17 consists of a tubular body 423 which takes the form of an outer or female mold and in which the core 24 is housed. female mold 23 is cylindrical and is cylindrical and is provided on its internal surface with threads -, which are intended for molding the external threads of the article to be made. The thread is desgin by the reference notation 25 in Figures 48 and 6.
It can be seen in Figure 6 that the core 24 is square in cross section, so that the article produced will take the shape shown in Figures 1 and 8 while having: a threaded cylindrical outer surface and a square shaped bore. .
The reinforcing fibers and the liquid reins are brought to the upper part of the annular molding channel formed between the female and male molds 23 and 24, the specific arrangement of the different ones being.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
various feed devices being considered below. Before proceeding to this description, however, attention should be drawn to the fact that the female mold 23 can perform a rotational movement on itself inside the sleeve or sleeve 26 which is fixed. and is fixed by bolts co-operating with a flange 27 at its lower part.
The rotation of the female mold 23 is obtained by means of a gear 28 fixed to the female mold, this gear is made integral with the shaft 30 by means of the gears 29, the shaft 30 being connected to the shaft
68 (see figures 3 and 8).
The sleeve or sheath 26 serves to define annular chambers 31 and 32 surrounding the female mold 23, the latter comprising flanges 33 carrying seals 34 which define the limits of the chambers 31 and 32. The chamber 31 is intended for the circulation of a heating agent which can be supplied by the conduits 35; likewise, the chamber 32 is intended for the circulation of a refrigerant which can be supplied via the pipes 36.
It should be noted here that, according to a preferred mode of application of the invention, the liquid resin is of the heat-curable or heat-curable type, such as, for example, the well-known polyester resins. The heating which is effected by the circulation of a heating agent in the chamber 31 acts to solidify the liquid resin as it passes through the molding channel delimited by the internally threaded wall of the female mold 23 and by the surface. outside
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
prioress of the nucleus 24.
In figure 4b. This shows that the internal surface of the inlet of the female mold 23 is flared in a funnel as indicated at 37, with a view to exerting pressure on the reinforcing elements impregnated with resin entering the molding channel. In this location is the cooling chamber 32, the cooling being intended to maintain the resin at a temperature sufficiently low to prevent solidification of the resin until it reaches the heated lower part. of the female mold.
The thread of the inner female mold part 23 extends, preferably only along the unformed section part, i.e. from a point adjacent to the lower part of the part. flared 37 to its base.
We can also see in Figures 4a and 4b that; the core-24 comprises an extension or an upward extension which is, in fact. a guide on which) * the layers or layers of reinforcing fibers are fed or wound in a manner which will be described later. This extension of the core 24 is indicated at 24a in Figures 4a and 4b. In the upper portion of the extension 24a, slightly above the line 5-5 shown in Figure 4a, the part of the core designated by reference notation 24b is reduced in size.
In addition, from a point upstream of the interior portion of the molding channel inlet, the extension of the core or guide of reinforcing members 24a is preferably of circular rather than angular section. 'and of peripheral dimension identical to that of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
angular part placed inside the female mold.
This is desirable in order to facilitate and standardize the application of the reinforcing layers or layers. The circular section of the core at this location is also shown in the horizontal sectional view of Figure 5.
The upper end of the core 24b is preferably threaded to receive a nut 38 resting on the plate 39 which in turn is, supported by the top cover 40 of the machine, which cover rests on the upper end. columns 19. This assembly therefore ensures the suspension of the entire core
24-24a-24b at the top of the machine and preferably includes suitable securing means to prevent rotation of the core.
The upper part 24b (of the core is surrounded by a bush 41 which is associated with a resin supply chamber 42 which supplies liquid resin to the annular space between the bush 41 and the core 24b, hence the resin passes to the lower part of the sleeve, to then pass through an anular orifice towards the outer surface of the core 24a on which the various reinforcing elements / are applied, thus ensuring the impregnation of said reinforcing elements.
In the upper part of FIG. 4a, there appears a supply pipe 43 bringing the resin to the chamber 42.
The parts 24a and 24b of the core are also hollow, the lower part of this internal cavity being closed by a plug designated by the reference numeral 44 in FIG. 4b. This cavity
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
) [¯interior constitutes a cooling chamber inside the guide 24 and a central tube 45 is arranged therein for the circulation of a refrigerant, said tube being of a diameter smaller than l core, or bore of the core and extending downward to a point slightly above plug 44.
Preferably, a coolant is introduced through line 46 inside the core, from where said coolant can be withdrawn through line 47 (see Upper part of Figure 4a). The purpose of introducing this coolant into the core or bore of the core is to help maintain the upper part of the core in which the liquid resin is brought to a sufficiently low temperature, in order to avoid at this point the premature curing or solidification of the resin or constituents thereof.
As can be seen especially in Figures 3 and 4a, the thicknesses or reinforcing layers supplied to the guide 24a comprise reinforcing elements of different types which are supplied to said guide in several successive stages. The first ply, or layer intended by the reference notation '48, is preferably made of strips, for example; Glass fibers in the form of sheets brought from the coils 49 and guided towards the central guide through guides 50 of flattened cross section.
Four of these strips? are brought, preferably radially, towards the center of the apparatus and are then bent downwards along the guide 24a.
, It is advantageous to bring

horizontal in figure 7.
It should be noted here that the general arrangement of the reinforcement tape guides 50 48 is similar to that of the guides 65 illustrated in Figure 7.
It is understood that different types of

can be adopted, depending on the nature of the article to be produced, but in many cases it is preferable to use not only reinforcing elements introduced longitudinally, such as,,, strips 48 and 63 and strands 51 and 62, but also

The attention is now drawn to the fact that the drive system of the mechanism at the * X, '. Attraction comprises a motor 66 and various elements indicated more or less sah6utically in the bottom) / of the figure ;. It should be noted that according to a proffered mode of application of the invention, the micanism ensuring the rotation of the thread coulle 23 is driven so as to operate in synchronization.

with the extraction mechanism * For this purpose,
a power take-off 67 is made from said extraction mechanism and the output shaft 68 of this transmission system extends upwards and is connected with the shaft 30 which drives the transmission system. gears ensuring the rotation of the female mold 23 in synchronism with the operation of the extraction mechanism, ensuring the "unscrewing" of the female mold with respect to the thread of the article which is thus expelled from the molding channel (see also- ,, ment Figure 4b).
The drive of the winding mechanism of the reinforcing elements is provided by a transmission belt 69. associated with one of the drive elements of the extraction mechanism and extending therefrom to. upwards to pass over a pulley 70 (see figures 3 and 8). The pulley 70 drives a drive mechanism 71 provided with an output shaft carrying a "pulley 72 coupled by means of a belt 73 to a pulley 74, which itself drives a transmission system 75 connected to the shaft. 61.
In this way, the shaft 61 and therefore the rotary table are driven in a rotational movement in perfect synchronism with the operation of the extraction mechanism.
Regarding the arrangement described above, it should be noted that the use of a core with angular section, such as the square core 24, makes it possible to avoid the rotation of the article during manufacture when the mold female is rotated in order to "unscrew" it from the finished article.
Always on the subject of the feed of raw materials (reinforcing elements and resin to

As regards the production methods, 'i nt.on illustrated in figures 9a and 9b it should be noted at once that the apparatus illustrated by these figures is suitable for the production of an article ileté internally, by example a room such as

In the embodiment of Figures 9a to 12, both as in the first embodiment, it is also contemplated to bring an excess of resin on the guide of reinforcing elements 96. In this case, the excess of resin. resin accumulated in a tank or enclosure 105 ... mounted on the fixed part of the molding device, for example by means of a bolt fixing flange 106. The overflow 107 tank 105 sends the excess of resin to tank 108, from where it is withdrawn via line 78a which leads it to a resin pump of the type described above with reference to FIG. 3, but which is not illustrated in FIG. 9b.
The outlet of this pump must be connected to the supply line 99 (see figure 9a) in order to bring the liquid resin to the supply chamber 98. Back-up can be introduced into the pump. reservoir by the supply line 109, preferably formed of a flexible pipe capable of being closed by the lever or by the eccentric action of the closure device 110 which is connected to the float 111, the elements 110 and 111 are moving together around the pin 112 ,, -In this way,
there is an automatic closing system ensuring the regulation of the liquid resin calf in the tank 108.
As in the first form of realization, it is also envisaged to introduce a cooling agent inside the core and, more especially, under the place occupied by the part.
