<EMI ID=7.1>

<EMI ID=11.1>
Les agencements ci-dessus décrits présentent de nombreux avantages, parmi lesquels on peut notamment distinguer les suivants;
des variations intempestives dans le système de commande et que l'on ne peut en général minimiser que par l'emploi d'amortisseurs complexes;
2[deg.]- poids réduit;
3[deg.]- insensibilité thermique;
marche de la suspension, plus spécialement au passage des joints de rails, des appareils de voie ou autres inégalités;
"\ 1[deg.]- l'insensibilité aux variations de température par la disposition des organes de transmission de pression;
<EMI ID=12.1>

Certain springs are known which bring into play, internally, a substance of the type of an elastomer.
On rail vehicles, it may be beneficial to adjust the power of the trains according to the load. It may also be desirable to dampen or eliminate some noticeable oscillations on the

to travelers.
The present invention relates to an arrangement for adjusting the braking power as a function of the load on a railway vehicle, applying
springs of the preoité type.
According to the invention, such a device oomprend a spring with hydrostatic elastomer compression, interposed between the undercarriage of a railway vehicle and the body, said spring being connected to a pipe filled with a fluid which can also be used. 'elastomer itself, said tubing leading to a control of aoteration of a device for adjusting the braking power.
The interposition of such a hydrostatic elastomer oompression spring therefore makes it possible to ensure the desired control and, by its very presence, to introduce a damping factor and elimination of certain osoillations, as mentioned above. .
This hydraulic commando works at pressures which are largely sufficient even if the effort required for the operation of the regulating members of the power of the
<EMI ID = 3.1>
The invention also includes a device
for controlling members other than those which can vary the braking power as a function of the load and in particular a system indicating the value of the load, making it possible to display the value in a visible manner.
A display of the running qualities of the vehicle can also be combined with such an indicator, this combination being of great use for the correct execution of the wagons of gravity sorting operations.
The invention also comprises an embodiment of a nature oette spring more specially adapted for interposition in a bogie pivot, said spring comprising an annular shape limited by inner and outer cylindrical hoops and corrugated walls. .
It also generally understands the fact that
such springs are provided with plugs or fittings
which allow the junction with a transmission pipe.
On the receiving side of the indications or commands, it is advantageous to provide thermal compensation.

spring of the aforementioned type connected to the transmission pipe and a spring formed identical to its opposite, the actuated member being supported on these springs placed in opposition.
The load indications can come from measuring springs arranged at several points of a vehicle, on two bogie pivots, for example. In such a case, the order is multiple and the different sockets are associated with an integration mechanism, for example with pendulums.
In this way, it is possible to actuate in particular a brake control system in such a way that each value and possibly for each distribution of the load, corresponds a value and only one of the maximum braking power.
The description which follows, with reference to the accompanying drawings by way of non-limiting examples, will make it possible to clearly understand how the invention is put into practice.
Figure 1 shows in section the arrangement of a spring with hydrostatic elastomer compression in a bogie pivot.
Fig. 2 schematically shows the arrangement of a control derived from such a spring for obtaining the adjustment of the dragging power as a function of the load.
Fig. 3 shows in section an S-shaped spring of a known type, applicable both to the measurement - evaluation side or reception side - of the loads and to the thermal compensation of this measurement.
The spring shown in fig. 1 is made up
in an annular form which oomprendre an inner cylindrical wall 1 of relatively large thickness and an outer cylindrical wall 2 of similar thickness. Between these two walls extend thin relatively deformable parts 3 and 4 and the interior volume of the annular enclosure thus decorated is filled with an elastomeric body 5.
Preferably, the walls 3 and 4 are grooves of toric section. The section of each groove is semi-circular. The rib which remains between two connected grooves forms a ring 6 of relatively great thickness, intended to provide a bearing surface on said spring and for the latter.
Such a spring is interposed between an orapaudine 7 of a bogie 8 and a bearing 9 belonging to the suspended body 10 of said vehicle. A oet effect, are also provided circular ribs 11 and 12 for centering and holding the spring in place.
The variable loads thus act on the spring described above according to the arrows 13 carried on the pin 1 and the crushing of said spring is proportional to the values of said load.
The outer wall 2 is perforated to ensure
a communication 14, thanks to a connector, with a tubing
15 transmission.
FIG. 2 which represents a similar spring of a simplified configuration, shows the connection of the tube 15, with an S-shaped spring which will be deorit in more detail in FIG. 3.
As can be seen in this figure3, a spring 16
S-shaped has end clips 17 and 18 and a
hollow body 19 formed by a tube of variable section,
This tube preferably has a constriction in the region of the middle of its length. One end, on the side
of the clip 18, for example, is closed. The end
opposite is provided with a threaded opening closed by a plug 21 surmounting a ball valve 22.
Such an S-shaped spring is mounted by its support 18
on the frame 23 of the vehicle considered in this case as a fixed point and its end 17 is supported on a nut 24. A spring of the same type designated by 16a, but not provided
valve and plug, is connected to tubing 15. It
is supported by its end 18a against an attaohe integral with the frame 23 while its end 17a is supported on the nut 24 opposite to the support of the end
17 of spring 16.
In such a device, it is easy to see that, thanks to the hydraulic filling of the pipe 15, which can be carried out with the same material for the lining of the springs, the action of the load on the annular bogie pivot spring is transmitted fully and unambiguously to the spring 16a in S. The spring 16 ensures the thermometric compensation of the receiving arrangement. The position taken by the nut 24 is therefore only a function of the value of the load resting on the orapaudin 7.
If the load measurement is made at the two bogies of the vehicle, it is also possible to have
<EMI ID = 5.1>
<EMI ID = 6.1>
opposite bogie pivot. The two nuts are linked together by a balancing system 25 on which the necessary power take-off 26 is made. The device in question can thus provide an average indication of the loads supported by the vehicle as a whole, even if the distribution of said loads is not regular.
If it is desirable to use a measuring spring or better still two springs, in particular in the case of vehicles with bogies so that the displacement of the commando system leads to a member 26 whose stroke is thus a function of the sum of said loads, we can also be satisfied with a single assembly allowing the

On vehicles with fixed axles, one could thus provide four S-shaped springs, adjacent to the corners of the body, connected on the one hand to the latter and on the other to the handcuffs for attaching the chassis to the ends of the springs.
leaf suspension, to obtain a displacement according to the load and the distribution of the latter.
<EMI ID = 8.1>
- The receiving springs could also be <EMI ID = 9.1> at a brake adjustment control member a translational movement or a rotational movement under the sole effect of the internal pressure developed by the fluid they contain, which represents the advantage of eliminating the junction members other than the pipes mentioned above.
These receivers, generally provided for the number of
two must therefore be arranged in such a way that their own elasticity or, failing this, a return spring brings
the control system in the minimum braking position, which at the same time constitutes a safety for the
case of failure at a point of the installation
because this avoids the risk of jamming.
In addition, these receivers require the system
control their own movement or the sum of the own movements of multiple receivers, although the adjustment of
the braking power may correspond depending on the case
to the sum of the loads on two axles or bogie or else only to the load on the axle or on the least loaded bogie.
The thermal composition is automatically ensured by the means indicated above.
Alternatively, similar arrangements can be adopted for maneuvering and positioning the mechanical system known as the "Vacuum-Loaded" commonly used with a manual control in the correct position.
The two arrangements can moreover coexist thanks to the provision of as many receivers possibly supplied by the separate pipes. It is thus possible to extend the use of the arrangement for adjusting the braking power to vehicles in which the ratio between the loaded weight and the tare is very high, of the order of four for example, on the condition that the mecha-

Indeed, it is thus possible to avoid the limited performance of currently known systems.
which work at powers proportional to the load, performance limited either by the ratio of the extreme pressures to the braking cylinder (of the order of 2.53), or by the ratio of the extreme amplifications of the linkage. in the case of devices mechanical.
In such a combination, safety provisions are provided for the hydrostatic pressure receivers which must be conformas and interconnected in such a way that a break in the transmissions, in particular in the piping, simultaneously reduces
<EMI ID = 11.1>
or a system for controlling the pneumatic brake in the position of minimum cylinder pressure, to maintain a safety value when braking.
Likewise, the hydrostatic pressure transmission can be used, alone or in combination with the arrangements described above, with a view to moving an index capable of displaying outside the vehicle, according to any predetermined coding, the value of the load carried.
Such an indexing can moreover be advantageously combined itself with another coding which makes it possible to simultaneously display the driving qualities of the vehicle in question and the reading of such a table is very useful in the adjustment of the devices. necessary for the correct execution of gravity sorting operations of freight cars, for example.
The arrangements described above have many advantages, among which the following can in particular be distinguished;
1 [deg.] - no moving and heavy mechanical part
whose inertia results in the movement of a vehicle
unwanted variations in the control system which can generally only be minimized by the use of complex shock absorbers;
2 [deg.] - reduced weight;
3 [deg.] - thermal insensitivity;
40 .., very high own damping, adjustable by the choice of elastomer for example, which makes it possible to make the arrangement insensitive to relatively high frequency accelerations and vibrations of vehicle frames, resulting among other things from oscillations in
running of the suspension, especially when passing rail joints, switches or other unevenness;
5 [deg.] - greater sensitivity and fidelity by the absence of high gear lever or friction members such as pistons, drawers and others.
To such qualities are added those which generally result from the peculiarities specific to hydrostatic compression systems of elastomers, compared to hydraulic and conventional systems, and which are mainly:
" \ 1 [deg.] - insensitivity to temperature variations by the arrangement of the pressure transmission members;
<EMI ID = 12.1>
3 [deg.] - the absence of alteration of the system by aging.

element of railway vehicles, characterized by at least one hydrostatic elastomeric compression spring, interposed between the running gear of such a vehicle and its body, said spring being connected to a transmission pipe, filled with a fluid which may be the elastomer itself and resulting in an actuation control intended to ensure the adjustment of the braking power as a function of the load of the vehicle or any other device working as a function of said load.
