TISSU DOUBLE
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

DOUBLE FABRIC
The present invention relates to a double fabric produced on a dobby loom or on a Jacquard loom, with which pockets, bags or the like can be easily made.
Usually one makes the pockets by uniting by a seam made on their edges two pieces of fabric cut in an identical way by turning the pieces thus

assembled and joining them a second time by a seam located, relative to the first, at a distance corresponding to the width of the strip of fabric which is now inside. This method of manufacture is complicated so that one is often satisfied, especially when it comes to inexpensive articles of clothing, the assembly by superposition and sewing of two pieces of fabric. If the thread of such a seam breaks during use of such a pocket, the garment @ must be repaired.
These drawbacks are avoided, according to the invention, by the use, for the purpose of rationally making pockets of any shape, of a double fabric, the upper and lower fabrics of which are only woven together within well-defined regions. defined, and more precisely outside the regions constituting the pockets.
To facilitate the cutting of the pockets thus formed in a strip of fabric, registration lines are woven in the fabric which delimit the regions ** 'where the upper and lower fabrics are separated.
When using Jacquard looms the boundary lines, separating the regions where the upper and lower fabrics are separated from the regions where the upper and lower fabrics are woven together, may be arranged obliquely to the direction of the fabrics. warp or weft threads.
The manufacture of pockets according to the invention has another advantage: it is possible to constitute by weaving, in the pieces of fabric which constitute the pockets, patterns, ornaments, advertising texts, banners.

moiries and the like. The ornaments thus formed by weaving in the fabric can be made even more apparent if several contrasting colors are used in the warp or weft system.
There is shown in the drawing two examples of execution of the new fabric.
Figure 1 shows a portion of a fabric made on a. dobby loom, intended for rectangular pockets.
FIG. 2 represents a portion of a fabric made on a Jacquard loom, for pockets of any shape with woven ornamental patterns.
In both figures the regions where the upper and lower tissues are separated are denoted by a, the marginal parts where the upper and lower tissues are woven together are provided with oblique hatching and denoted by b. The marking lines separating the two regions are denoted by c. There remain between lines c, in the case of the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 2, parts of fabric forming scraps, relatively small, and marked by horizontal hatching, at d. The decorative patterns woven into the pieces forming the pockets are designated by e.
