L'électro-timant

<Desc/Clms Page number 31>
<Desc/Clms Page number 32>

<Desc/Clms Page number 36>

<Desc/Clms Page number 40>
verticale.

Two embodiments of the invention are shown in the figures and described in detail below.
The shear shown by way of example of the invention is a shear actuated by a motor device and comprising a frame 10 comprising side posts 11 and 12 having aligned openings 13 usually referred to as "swan necks". A plate-shaped vertical member 14 extends across the width of the shear and forward between side posts 11 and 12, and is welded to the lower front edges of side posts 11 and 12. A support or upper cross member 15 extends between the upper parts of the side uprights 11 and 12 and supports certain control mechanisms described below.
A support or horizontal work table 16 is fixed to the plate 14 and to the parts extending towards the front of the side uprights 11 and 12 near the lower front parts))) of the openings 13 of the goosenecks, this table being intended to support the material to be cut by the shears.
In the case of the shear example shown, the shearing is carried out by a fixed blade {17 fixed in such a way.réglable on the plate 14 at the upper rear edge of the latter and by a movable blade 21 cooperating with the previous one fixed at the lower front edge of a thick plate 22 forming part of a movable elongate member or blade holder 'generally designated by .1:

Plates 58 are in close contact with the opposing surfaces of the ends of blade holder A while allowing the blade holder to slide freely in the guides. When guides 24 and 25 pivot. author of the journals 50 and 51, the plates 58 are moved and cause the blade holder A and the blade 21 to pivot around the axis of the journals 50 and 51.
This pivoting movement makes it possible to modify or adjust the play between the blades 17 and 21, that is to say that the distance separating the lnmes 17 and 21 during the shearing can be increased or decreased according to the direction of pivoting of the guides, If the guides are moved clockwise around the journals 50 and 51, relative to FIG. 3, the clearance is increased while if the guides are moved counterclockwise around the journals 50 and 51, with respect to FIG. 3, the clearance is reduced.
Guides 24 and 25 are moved or adjusted simultaneously around journals 50 and 51 by a device comprising a crank 60. When crank 60 is rotated by hand, shaft 61 to which the crank is attached is rotated. relative to the fixed blade bare to the horizontal is called the angle of attack. As the hydraulic cylinders B and C can be actuated differently and the lower ends of the piston rods 34 and 35 are pivotally connected to the holder A,
the movable lap 21 can pivot relative to the fixed blade 17 about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the plate 22 and / or be maintained in a predetermined angular position * with respect to the fixed blade by an appropriate control of the hydraulic cylinders. According to the embodiments shown, this movement is obtained by means of the mechanism for adjusting the angle of attack.

When the cam 124 is in the neutral or dead point position, the control elements of the electric switches 120 and 121 are only in contact, or approximately in contact, with the cameo 124, as seen in FIG. . 9, but switches 120 and 121 are therefore not activated.
When the cam 124 is moved to the left of FIG. 9, the switch 121 is actuated, that is to say closed in the example considered. If the cam 124 is moved to the right of FIG. 9, the switch 120 this actuated, that is to say closed also in the example considered
The switches 122 and 123 are normally closed and are opened by the cam 124 after a displacement of a predetermined value of the cam either to the right or to the left, according to the representation of FIG. 9. The function of these switches will emerge from the description of the hydraulic and electrical systems given below.

When a predetermined pressure is reached in the hydraulic system of the clamp 27, an adjustable hydraulically controlled valve

Valve 344 is connected to conduits 280 and 283 on opposite sides of check valve 282, and opening of valve 344 allows liquid from conduit 225 to pass through distributor 226, conduit 283, valve 344 and the conduit 280 in the upper part of the hydraulic cylinder 30, the piston 32 of which is forced downwards,
driving the left end of the port blade Liquid is not being forced by pump 214 through check valve 284 of line 285 at this time, because the relatively higher pressure investigating in line 285 is holding the valve retainer 284 closed.

When the blade holder is at a nail 4 'greater than the normal maximum attack angle shown in Fig * 9, i.e. when the left end of the blade holder according to Figs, 1 , 9 and 11, is higher than the right end, for example in the. position shown by dashes (two dots) 349 in FIG. 11, the operation of the shears is substantially the same as that described above.
However, in this case the upper limit switch 220 determines the upper position of the blade holder A instead of the switch 221, because the cam 223 is located below the switch 221, for example. in the position indicated at 223 "in Fig. 11.
When the blade holder A is in its upper position, the piston 33 is lower than the piston 32, and the switch 220 is held open by the cam 222 preventing the energization of the relay 262. When the operator lowers pedal 295 the shear operates as described and the blade holder A descends. As cam 223 is lower than cam 222, cam 223 opens switch 309 to cut relay 254, stop the descent of blade holder A and cause it to rise as described.

lower part of cylinder 30 is connected by conduit 190 to upper part of cylinder 31. A certain volume of hydraulic fluid is normally trapped by distributor 191 between the lower face * of piston 32 of cylinder 30 and the upper face of piston
33 of cylinder 31, This volume is hereinafter called the imprisoned volume.
When the port blade rises vertically or is at rest in its upper position, the angle of attack, that is to say the angle of the movable blade with respect to the fixed one, can be modified by making turn the crank 60 to move the cam 124 and actuate the switch 120 or
121 as it has been explained. The operation of these switches controls the operation of the distributor 191 so that liquid is added or subtracted from the trapped volume depending on whether the switch 120 or 121 is actuated which in turn causes the angle of attack to vary.
Assuming that the movable blade is in its upper position and at any angle of attack, rotating crank 60 as described, in the direction of winding flexible cable 91 on drum or pulley 90, The operator can cause the angle of attack to increase. Winding. or cable 91 on the drum
90 moves the cam 124 to the left as shown in the figures, and actuates the switch 120. The operation of this switch closed! ses contacted 390 and 391.
This results in the closing of a circuit of the supply line 201 through the closed contacts 390, 391 of the switch 120 ,. the conductor 392, the contact closed at reps 254-4 of the relay 254, the conductor 393, and the electromagnet 395, to the supply line 208. The electro-timant
395 is connected to distributor 191 and its excitation
<Desc / Clms Page number 31>
moves distributor 191 to the right. The passage to the right of the distributor 191 causes the addition of .liquid to the
Trapped volume.
The liquid is delivered by the pump 215 through the conduit 265, the distributor 286, the conduit
287, distributor 191, and conduit 190, to increase the stored volume. This addition of liquid tends to force the piston 32 upwards and the piston 33 downwards. As the angle of attack increases, the pulley 97 is raised relative to the pulley 94, so that the cable 91 takes up slack and allows the return of the cam 124 to the neutral position, which allows the switch to open.
120.
As it has been assumed that the blade holder A is at rest, the piston 32 cannot rise because the liquid in the upper part of the cylinder 30 cannot come out. This liquid will tend to pass through the conduit 280, the valve 282, and the conduit 283, but the distributor 226 is in a central position which blocks the passage of the liquid through this distributor.
Liquid from the top of cylinder 30 also swells to pass through line 283 through valve 284 to line 285. This circulation, however, does not occur because the discharge pressure of pump 215 maintains the valve. 284 closed. The liquid added to the trapped volume consequently forces the piston 33 downwards, so that the liquid from the lower part of the cylinder 31 flows through the line 192, the valve 194, the line 227, the distributor 226. , the conduit 232 and the valve 233, towards the reservoir.
If the angle of attack is at this moment greater than the angle called the normal maximum angle of attack, the upper limit switch 220 is opened and
<Desc / Clms Page number 32>
the right end of the blade holder continues to descend until the cam 124 returns to the center in the neutral position, thus allowing the opening of the switch 120 and the cutting of the electromagnet 395, which allows the return to the central position of the distributor 191
If the blade holder is at its normal maximum angle of attack or at any angle of attack less than its normal maximum angle of attack, when the piston moves down the cam 223 leaves the switch 221 which closes.
A circuit is closed, in the manner already described, from conductor 246 through relay 262, to supply line 208.
The energization of the relay 262 closes its contact 262-2 which closes a circuit of the supply line 201 through the solenoid 265 of the pilot distributor 270, to the supply line 208. The energization of the electromagnet 265 moves distributor 270 to the right so that liquid is forced through conduit 225, distributor 270, and conduit 272 into cylinder 273 of distributor 226 which passes right.
When distributor 226 arrived h. right, the liquid is forced through the pipe 225 to raise the two pistons 32 and 33 as described, because the liquid above the piston 32 of the cylinder 30 can now leave through the pipe 280, the valve 282 , the conduit 283, the distributor 226, the conduit 232 and the valve 233 to the reservoir. This purification continues until the return of the cam 224 to neutral or central position, one or the other upper limit switch 220 and 221 open, depending on whether the new angle of attack is greater than l. The normal maximum angle of attack had it equal to or greater than the normal maximum angle of attack.

blade holder A goes up, the distributor 191 passes to the left and directs the liquid through the duct 291, the retention valve 290 and the duct 280, which tends to increase the pressure above the piston 32 of the cylinder 30, but as the distributor 226 is on the left, this pressure is determined by the setting of the valve 233. During the raising of the blade holder, the liquid is sent to the lower part of the cylinder 31 and the liquid to the upper part of the cylinder. 31 discharged through conduit 190, distributor 191 and conduit 288 to the reservoir instead of passing through the lower part of cylinder 30, because the pressure in conduit 190 is low compared to glue from conduit 280.
As a result, the cylinder piston 31 rises relative to the cylinder piston 30, so that the right end of the lnme holder, according to FIG. 9, goes up from the left end. This notion causes the pulley 94 to rise relative to the pulley 97 and tension the target 91.
After sufficient relative movement of the pulleys 94 and 97, the cable 91 returns the cane 124 to the neutral position and the switch 121 opens, cutting off the electromagnet 410 and blocking the flow of liquid through the distributor 191. If the blade holder A is not then in the upper position, it continues to rise in the normal way until the opening of one to the other of the upper limit switches 220 and 221 according to the value of the new angle of attack.
If switch 121 is operated by unwinding cable 91 from drum 90 while blade holder A rises, distributor 191 is actuated and the trapped volume is decreased, as described, until the new angle is reached. attack is reached, and if the blade holder
<Desc / Clms Page number 36>
is not in the upper position then it will continue to rise in the normal way until each other of the upper limit switches 220 and 221 is open, depending on the value of the new angle of attack ,
Considering FIG. 10, it is apparent that the adjustment of the angle of attack can only take place when the blade holder A rises or when the blade holder is at rest in its upper position.
This is due to the fact that the normally closed contacts 254-4 and 254-5 of the descent relay 254 are in the excitation circuits of the electromagnets 395 and 410 which control the distributor 191 for the adjustment of the voltage. 'angle of attack. When relay 254 is actuated, these contacts are open and no circuit is established through electromagnets 395 and 410. Relay 254 is energized when the carrier descends.
At all other times, relay 254 is at rest and its contacts 254-4 and 254-5 are closed.
If for any reason during the descent of the blade holder its inclination is modified by a faulty operation of the shears and as a result the cam 124 moves to the right or to the left by a sufficient distance to actuate the switch 122 or 123, the blade holder is stopped and alarm 417 is energized. If the switch 122 is actuated by the cam 124, its contacts 240 and 241 are open and its contacts 240 and 415 are closed. The opening of contacts 240 and 241 cuts the circuit of relay 254 which stops the movement of the blade holder. ** The closing of contacts 240, 415 completes a circuit of conductor 201 through contacts 240, 415 of switch 122 , driver 416 and alarm 417, to driver 208.

A variant of the embodiment shown in Figs. 1 to 11, relate to an adjustable support device for the guide assemblies 24 and 25 of the movable blade holder A is shown in FIGS. 12 and 13.
For this variant, only the right side lying of the frame is shown and it is indicated by the reference 412, the two mounts being similar to the side uprights 11 and 12 of the embodiment previously described except by the fact that they each comprise a part. projecting 413 projecting downwards from the upper part of the opening 13 of the gooseneck to receive the shafts or pivots 68 carrying the toothed sectors 67 brought forward, this pivots being situated in holes of the bosses 413 in the axial alignment occupied by the pivots 72 of the first embodiment,
The toothed sectors 414 according to the variant are in all essential respects similar to the toothed sectors of the first embodiment, and their eccentric hubs are supported so as to be able to rotate on shafts 68 mounted in openings of the guide elements 53 similar to those through which the journals 72 protrude in the first case, In the case of the variant the journals 51 pass through the openings 420 of the upper end of the guide elements 53, these openings being elongated in a general direction

vertical.
In the case of this variant, the openings 420 form notches at the upper ends of the elements 53, but they could also be elongated closed openings. Lots of elongated openings 420 are used to allow limited vertical movement of the guide elements 53, this movement being necessitated by mounting the lower ends of the guide elements 53 directly on the eccentric portions 415 of the toothed sectors 414 instead of. be connected to these by a connecting rod as in the case of the first embodiment.
The way of supporting the left end of the movable blade holder assembly A is not shown, but is similar to that of the right end *
The operation of the shears comprising this variant is essentially the same as in the case of the first embodiment and will not be described in detail. It suffices to indicate that at the rate of the rotation of the shaft 64 the toothed sectors 414 and of the opposite ends of the shears will tilt to rotate their eccentric hubs on which the lower ends of the guides of the blade holder assembly mobile are supported.
When the eccentrics are rotated, the lower ends of the guidas are moved in a general horizontal direction for adjusting the incidence and the play between the fixed blade and the movable blade 17 and 21, and according to a characteristic inherent in the eccentrics, in a generally vertical direction, but this movement is insufficient to interfere with the correct operation of the shears.
It emerges from the foregoing that the invention allows the production of a new improved shears specially designed for bird-maker back materials of different thicknesses and comprising back means for adjustment.
