<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"MINERALS MACHINE"
The present invention relates to a mnerais slaughtering machine. Its purpose is to slaughter very hard Binerais and is characterized by mobile musses fixed to the end of chains or other fastening elements, allowing free movement of masses inside spheres, having as centers the attachment points on the back

attachment to the machine. These mobile masses are projected at high speed against the mass to be felled. Preferably, the moving masses serve as a support 4 for the felling tools.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the mobile masses are driven in circular movements by rotating bodies. the rotating bodies can in particular be flying plates fixed on shafts, coming out of a working head of the machine. The working head can be orientable around an axis.
The invention is explained below with reference to the accompanying drawing. Figure 1 is a schematic plan view illustrating the operation of the machine. Figure 2 is a sectional view of the working head of a machina.
In Figure 1, a frame 1 is wedged between roof and wall by means not shown; on this frame slides a felling machine comprising a rotary motor, not shown, driving one or more flywheels 2 to which are attached short chains 3, maintaining moving masses 4, felling tool supports 5, in l occurrence of the pins arranged at right angles to each other.
As a result of the rotation, the moving masses 4 are requested by a centrifugal force which stretches the chains 3 in the -clans of the plates-
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
flywheels 2 to which they are attached The masses 4 accumulate a kinetic energy proportional to the square of their speed. This kinetic energy is useful for shaking the rock and for driving the cutting tools 5 into the mass, when the masses 4 @@ nt project against it. the flying plates 2 continuing to rotate, then tear off the masses 4 as well as blocks of ores.
Loraqu in the name of meeting the massif, a tool is not found in a favorable position to attack the massif. the afaeee 4 automatically pivots around chain 3 and engages another tool 6 in the block.
In the event that a harder nodule is struck by a tool 5, the same pivoting mechanism leaks, engage another tool 5 at a softer place in the bed. After several cuts of this kind, the nodule is torn apart, so that it is cut directly, which resembles the economic principle applied during manual cutting.
The masses, the speed of rotation, the lengths of the chains and the inertia of the flywheel must be chosen according to the properties of the mass and the power of the drive motor.
The guiding of the felling machine according to the invention can also escape between the roof and the wall by a system of jacks asuant to the liver.

supporting the roof above the machine and advancing the latter under the solid mass, both parallel and perpendicular to the working face.
In Figure 2, a motor 6 drives a bevel ring 7 meshing with a bevel gear 8 whose bearings 9 and 10 are housed in an orientable head 11. the bevel gear 8 is integral with a toothed wheel 12 driving a Galle chain 13. The galle chain 13 surrounds a pinion 14 in the working head 11 of the machine.
The pin 15 of the pinion 14 comes out of the working head 11 perpendicularly to the shaft 17 of its drive motor 6 and carries two flywheels 2 to which chains are attached (computer

naires} 3 carrying at their ends mobile masses 4 with felling pins 5. Instead of chains, other equivalent elements, for example cables, allowing free movements of the mobile masses inside spheres, having as center the attachment points of the fasteners, can be used. The speed of the flying trays 2 is chosen high enough to obtain a suitable yield during slaughter.
The lengths of the chains 3 and the diameters of the flywheels 2 can be tuned together so as to take account of the oscillations of the moving masses,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
for example, the maximum distance between the point of gravity of a mobile mass 4 and the point of attachment of its chain on the flywheel 2 is preferably chosen equal to approximately half of the maximum distance between the point of gravity d a movable mass 4 and the axis 15 of the flywheel to which it is attached. In this case, the period of oscillation of the moving masses differs by about 1 / 4th of a period from the period of rotation of the flywheel.
Its detaching itself from the point of impact, the mass starts in its rotation with a maximum elongation with respect to a radius passing through the axis of the voting plate and the point of attachment of the chain, the shift of a quarter of period between the period of oscillation and the period of rotation of the moving mass has the effect that the moving mass meets the mass at the end of this period of rotation in a position coinciding approximately with the radius passing through the point of chain fastener.
The theoretical relationship between the diameter of the flying plates and the length of the chains should not be safeguarded with extreme rigor, since the point of impact can vary quite strongly: from one revolution to another of the flying plates. A bead 16, provided for the working head, along the path followed by the links of the chains attached directly to the moving masses, makes it possible to protect the working head from direct blows that
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
could bring him the felling tools,
In order to easily take into account the arrangement of the layers in the mass to be felled,. the working head 16 can be oriented around the axis of the shaft 17.
The working head rotates in a bearing 18 and it can be maintained in a desired position by means of pins 19 passing through two flanges with holes 20 and 21, the flange 20 being integral with the motor 6 the flange 21 being integral with the working head 11. This easy orientability of the working head also makes it possible to fell by first practicing a hâve and then to carry out the felling perpendicular to the hâve.
The available power of the machine is proportional to the square of the speed of rotation of the moving masses. When the speed of the moving masses is very high, it is necessary to provide a protective screen around the moving masses. This protective screen is constituted by a cylindrical sheet 22 reinforced pure radial stiffeners 23 preventing the masses, in the event of breakage of the fastener or chain, from sliding along the cylindrical sheet and endangering the men serving the machine. .
