PERFECTION IN CONTROL EQUIPMENT wheel BURNERS
LIQUID OR GASEOUS FUELS
It is known to use on certain devices, in particular oil burners with 3 safety devices, the intervention of which in the event of accidental extinction is controlled from a photoresist cell, the latter for example causing opening of a relay as soon as it stops being ignited by the burner flame.
Such cells in fact exhibit an internal resistance capable of varying as a function of the illumination between one megohm and a few hundred ohms and in fact lend themselves to the direct control of a commonly constructed relay. however, the safety becomes inoperative if, as a result of a mechanical accident, excessive heating, or for any other fortuitous cause, the cell or the connection wires

Relay L then ceases to be supplied and its triggering activates the safety device intended to cut off the fuel supply (stopping the engine, closing a valve.

etc ...). The U1 and U2 supply tannions can be supplied by any known means: either by a single transformer with 4 taps or with separate windings, or by two separate transformers, or even by a potentiometric assembly.
In the embodiment shown in a variant in FIG. 3, the excitation circuit of relay L is supplied with rectified current on the two halfwaves thanks to the conventional bridge assembly R, while the short-circuit detection current is of an alternating nature; it then becomes necessary to separate the power supplies from one another, but the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of the device remains unchanged.
The two currents in and id affect the waveforms shown in FIG. 4 and the sum of their ordinates provides the curve of the current ic in the circuit branch containing the cell P and the fuse f. Note that, due to the presence of the capacitor CA2 ', the current id presents on the current in a phase advance which tends towards
2 when the resistance inserted between terminals S1 and S2 tends to cancel itself out.
In the event of a blown fuse. as a result of a short circuit affecting the cell or its connections, the capacitor CA2 prevents the DC component of in from being closed by the source C-D; conversely, the current id cannot practically be closed again through the circuit containing the relay L because of the high impedence of the latter and the low value of U2.
It is important to note that the examples described are in no way restrictive and that one could just as easily make use of direct current sources, for example, by modifying the diagrams accordingly. Similarly, the fuse shown in Figures 1 and 3 could be replaced by any other device fulfilling a similar function (circuit breaker, auxiliary relay, additional blocking winding, etc.), without the device thus modified. However, it falls outside the scope of the present invention.
