Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   The present invention relates to an abrasive tool for sharpening, for example, the knives of mechanical mowers. Known grinding wheels intended for this use have a smooth conical surface on which an abrasive layer is deposited. Tools of this type are also known which only have an interior conical barasive surface,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

The abrasive tool constituting the object of the invention differs from the known tools in that it has a tapered outer surface with grooves provided with an abrasive layer and a smooth cylindrical outer surface, also provided with an abrasive layer. an abrasive layer, so that different cutting edges can be produced with just one tool.

   The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the tool according to the invention, one half thereof being shown in section and the other half in view.

   The tool shown is essentially constituted by a hollow frustoconical part 1, the large base of which is connected. a cylindrical skirt 2.

  While the outer surface of the truncated cone is provided with grooves 3, the outer surface of the cylindrical skirt 2 is smooth. The grooved outer surface of the frustoconical part 1 and the smooth outer surface of the cylindrical skirt 2 serve as a support for the abrasive layers 4 and 5.

  The abrasive layer 4, placed on the grooved surface, matches the shape of this surface and is itself grooved.

   The frustoconical part internally has a cylindrical hub 6 having two bores 7 and 8 of different diameters and serving to mount the tool directly on the shaft of an electric motor. The large diameter bore 8 makes it possible to engage on the threaded shaft end a threaded bush securing the tool on the shaft of the

 of the motor.

   As it follows from what has just been explained, the abrasive tool described and shown makes it possible to sharpen different cutting edges. The grooved abrasive surface 4 makes it possible, for example, to give a wavy edge to the knives of mechanical mowers, kitchen knives and blank knives, while the smooth cylindrical abrasive surface 5 gives the normal edge. It is therefore clear that the tool described makes the purchase of several tools superfluous and is more economical to use since fewer operations have to be carried out.
