<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
1'invention..
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

It is known that the general principle of automatic washing machines consists in automatically stirring the laundry in a tub, in the presence of washing water.
It is also known that, in certain washing machines, the stirring of the laundry is carried out mechanically by means of a suitably shaped agitator, causing the laundry in its movement. The water is itself agitated by the agitator and partly contributes to the stirring of the laundry, but there is always a major contact between the laundry and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
ltagitateu: r, and this contact is open to criticism as regards the crossing of the laundry by the washing water and the risks of deterioration of the laundry.
The main object of the present invention is a method of stirring the laundry which does not have the above drawbacks because it is purely hydraulic and, during the operation of the machine, there is no possibility of contact between the laundry and any moving -mechanical organ.
The invention also relates to a special arrangement of the bottom of the washing cczve intended to increase the efficiency of the above hydraulic mixing. laundry cleaning point of view.
The invention will be readily understood by reference to. attached schematic drawing in which figs. 1 and 2 show axial vertical cross sections of a non-limiting example of the washing machine according to
The invention.
In fig. 1 (section according to I-I of FIG. 2), it can be seen that a washing machine according to the invention comprises a washing tank 1 of horizontal cross section appro-. required and, preferably, rectangular, provided at 2 with a water intake with a strainer grid, feeding an external pipe to the tank 1, which pipe 3 leads to a multiple injector member 8 disposed at a certain appropriate distance outside. of the washing cellar 1 and then connected to said tank by the pipe 9.
The multiple injector member 8 is a characteristic member of the invention comprising a casing 5 connected to the tank 1 by a pipe 9 as wide as
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
possible in order to reduce to a minimum the pressure losses between said member 8 and the tank, and a horizontal axis rotor comprising at 4 a plurality of conventional fins sucking water, in the pipe 3, integral with a vertical bottom ô in which a plurality of identical elementary injectors 7 have been provided, with a conventional hydrodynamic profile giving the outgoing jet the maximum speed and, consequently, the maximum live force.
The action of the live force of all the jets prevents any entry of the laundry into the tubing 9 connecting the casing 5 to the tank 1.
The invention further provides for the combination of the action of the live force of the jets with a continuous variation of the position of these jets.
As a non-limiting example of the application of the above combination, FIG. 2 (section according to II-II of FIG. 1) shows, seen from the front, a rotor in which the elementary injectors have been machined while observing a non-uniform geometric distribution.
The dimension. the number and the grouped distribution or not of the elementary injectors are chosen according to the intensity desired for the hydraulic mixing, of the contents of the tank, which mode of mixing has the great advantage of not reducing the permeability of the laundry to water. wash water, whatever the intensity of the brewing.
It must be understood that the length of the pipe 9 separating the multiple injector from the wall of the tank to which it is connected is chosen so that the movement of the rotor does not have on the water contained in the tank. no action in itself comparable to that
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
undesirable from a mechanical stirrer and that the outgoing jets, after having traveled through connection 9, are able to act on said water.
Due to the play, which it is inevitable to leave between the rotor of the multiple injector and the frame 5, the peripheral profile of this rotor and the corresponding profile of the casing are provided to laminate to the maximum the possible interstitial passage of the l. water, regardless of the meaning of this passage.
On the other hand, according to the invention, in order to improve the output of the live force of the jets, an output whose rise is a function of the efficiency of the rolling mentioned above, the face of the rotor of the jets. The multiple injector oriented towards the washing tank has a slight concave conformation linked to the peripheral profile of the rotor.
As indicated at the start, another object of the invention is a characteristic arrangement of the bottom of the washing tank, the effect of which is to reinforce the washing action of the hydraulic mixing.
According to this arrangement, the bottom of the washing tank 'has the general shape of a semi-ellipsoid with rectangular axes, two of which are horizontal and equal respectively to the sides of the horizontal cross section of the tank while the third is vertical and oriented downwards. This semi-ellipsoid is provided internally, at its lowest part, with a speed bump parallel to the general direction of the jets injected towards the tank when they pass through the corresponding wall. The presence of this speed bump promotes changes in the relative position of the laundry in the tub,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
which improves the quality and speed of washing.
Figs. 1 and 2, the latter being a section on II-II of 'FIG. 1, together show the general shape of the bottom of the washing tank as well as the speed bump 10 provided in this bottom.
It should be understood that the field of the invention is not limited in any way by the example of application shown in the drawing, nor by the construction details, nor by the very numerous variations which can be made in the drawing. the mode of manufacture and the arrangement of the various components. in particular, . it could be envisaged to have the injector member in the bottom of the tank, the speed hump then being able to be provided on a side wall.
