The present patent relates to a portable apparatus intended for the measurement of the permeability of bodies, packaged to form an assembly easily transportable to any place in a factory or on a construction site where the measurement of the permeability of a body can be performed on site, which presents a great advantage for bodies which, given their size or their construction on site, cannot be treated for this purpose in laboratories equipped with a fixed measuring station.
To this end, the portable apparatus envisaged in accordance with the present patent is characterized in that it is in the form of an assembly consisting of a so-called constant pressure chamber, closed by an elastic membrane, the periphery of which is fixed. on the shoulder of a cover and whose movements are slaved to those of an adjustable pressure spring, said membrane being made integral with a plate centrally provided with a duct opening into the aforesaid pressure chamber and which can slide in a tube fixed to the cover and which comprises a sealing seat by the end of the pipe envisaged then acting as a needle at the inlet of the air supplied into said pipe by a connected pipe. to an air pump operated by hand and secured to the cover,
said pressure chamber being able to be put into communication by a calibrated flow pipe provided with a valve with a second so-called measuring chamber, attached to the first and containing a metal bellows, the contraction of which depends on the pressure in the measuring chamber is transmitted to the needle of a graduated dial, the measuring chamber carrying a nozzle on which is connected a flexible pipe connected on the other hand to the suction cup intended to be applied to the body which is wants to measure permeability.
Other characteristic details will be described during the description below.
To this end, the appended drawing represents, by way of explanation and without limitation, a form of execution of the object of this patent where:
Fig.1 shows a front elevational view.
FIG. 2 represents the oves in elevation along IIa-IIa and IIb-IIb Fi.l, the suction cup being supposed to be placed in the plane of the axis IIa - IIa.
Fig 3 shows a section in elevation along III-III FIG. 1.
Referring to the figures above, shows a cylindrical body divided into two parts by an internal partition forming on the right the so-called constant pressure chamber 1b and on the left the chamber lc comprising the control device of the needle placed opposite a graduated dial.
Between the circular edge 1d and the corresponding inner shoulder 2a of the cover 2 is clamped by any means, the edge of the periphery of an elastic membrane 3.
On the central opening of this membrane 3 is applied on one side a washer 5a and on the other side a clamping plate 5 centrally comprising a duct 6 terminating in a needle 6a. intended to come to be applied to the seat 7a of a tube 7 fixed to the cover 2 by 9 and in which the tube can slide the duct 6.
The outer periphery of the pipe 7 is provided with a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
external thread 8 on which are engaged a nut 10 and a lock nut 11 which can be operated from the outside through the openings
2b of the cover 2.
The nut 10 bears on a plate 12 freely arranged on the pipe 7 and guided by two rods 13, one of their ends of which is fixed to the clamping device 5-5a of the membrane 3.
A spring 14 is arranged between the opposite faces of the plates 5 and 12. A pipe 15 connects the pipe 7 by means of a ball valve 16 to the chamber 17 of a piston 19 housed in a cylinder 18 secured to the cover-2, This piston '19 is provided with an operating rod 20 with return spring 21 and operating button 22 arranged externally.
On the body 1 is attached, see Figs, 1 and 3, a valve consisting of a body 23 and a plug 23a with operating handle 28 In the example; the valve is two-way, but can be single-way. In the example, it is possible to use either the air intake channel 24 in the chamber 1 at constant pressure, with a calibrated flow rate pellet 25, or the air intake channel 26 with a pellet at another calibrated flow rate 27, according to the position given to the plug 23 provided with the V-shaped passage 29 establishing the communication opening into la'tuyerie 30 ending on the nozzle 31 opening into the cylinder 32, attached to the body 1 forming the measuring chamber 33.
In this measuring chamber 33 is disposed a metal bellows 34 provided with a control rod 35 whose end is provided for example with a toothing 36 in engagement with the toothing of a small pinion 37 on the axis of which is. fixed the needle 38 intended to run through the graduated dial 39.
It goes without saying that any other device for controlling the needle 38 can be envisaged as a variant. The hand 38 and the dial 39 are protected from the outside by a transparent glass 40.
The cylinder 32 is provided with a nozzle 41 to which is connected the flexible pipe 42 leading to the nozzle of a suction cup 43 comprising a rubber-foam insert 44 provided with a central orifice 45, and intended to be applied. on the body 46, the permeability of which is to be measured.
Operation is understood as follows:
When the piston 19 of the pump 18 descends, when the button 22 is pushed, the compressed air is discharged from the chamber 17 through the pipe 15, into the pipe 7 and from there, through the pipe 6 enters. in the chamber 1b at constant pressure established by the pressure given by the spring 14 acting on the plate 5 integral with the elastic membrane 3. When the chamber 1b is at the desired pressure, the membrane 3 by moving outwards under the The effect of the pressure drives the duct 6 tooth the end 6a forming a needle closes the orifice 7a.
If now the suction cup 43 is applied to the body 44 whose permeability is to be measured, and if the handle of the tap is operated so as to put the pressure chamber in communication through the pipe 42 with the measuring chamber 32, it m 'escapes through the orifice of the calibrated pellet 25 or 27, a constant air flow which enters the measuring chamber 32 at the same time as through the flexible pipe 42 and opens at 45 to the surface of the body, through which the air escapes Thus, depending on whether the air escapes more or less quickly, the rate of the air pressure in the measuring chamber 32 will be lower or higher and the metal bellows 34 will descend more or less ,
driving its rod 35 which will rotate the needle 38 in front of the dial 39 on which can be read a number corresponding to the degree of permeability of the body 46.
