PERFECTIONNEMENT AUX BOITES A GRAISSE DE CHEMINS DE FER A GRAISSAGE
MECANIQUE.

IMPROVEMENT OF GREASE BOXES ON LUBRICATING RAILWAYS
MECHANICAL.
It has already been proposed to mount in the cover of the grease boxes of railway vehicles a reversible pump making it possible to ensure the supply of oil to the bearing of each daytime rocket in a continuous manner and proportional to the running speed of the vehicle for both directions of travel.
Thanks to the supply of oil obtained in sufficient quantity by the pump, whatever the speed and direction of rotation of the spindle, the formation of an oil film is ensured and from this moment the bearing surface
<EMI ID = 1.1>
can be significantly reduced.
It is on this finding, established both by theoretical research and by experimental research, that the present invention is based, which makes it possible to remove from grease boxes of the type specified above the fungus attached to the tip of the rocket.

sealing of the mechanical gearbox against any oil leakage, but which, mounted beyond the fillet of the spindle connection with the axle proper, as has been done up to now, cannot play the role of stop.
By giving this ring a sufficient diameter and by developing the bearing to 1800., this ensures a surface area easily quadruple of that which can normally be achieved with a non-attached mushroom.
Using the added mushroom, it is true, one could achieve the same surface, but all the mechanical arrangements envisaged for this purpose are expensive and bulky and arouse in the user a certain concern from the point of view of subsequent disassembly and reassembly.
The disappearance of the forged mushroom not only makes it possible to find ample room to house the pump in the existing boxes previously fitted with a lubrication pad, but to simplify the operation to the extreme.
disassembly, since, the usual shim removed, the bearing can be removed
of its housing by simple axial displacement, even when the arc enveloped
is from 1800.
The use of the rear shoulder thus transformed to replace the front shoulder formed by the mushroom only offers advantages,
since the concentric surface forming an abutment is maintained more in
the vertical plane, the deformation of the rocket at this location being low.
The use of enveloping pads on 1800 that this arrangement makes it easy to use, has the effect of keeping the rocket in
axis, and consequently to prevent relative displacements in
height. As a result of this, the bumper, which is necessary with the non-enveloping pads, becomes irrelevant and the bearing surface ceases to be.
with variable orientation, as occurs when the guard plates
are not located in the vertical plane of symmetry of the bearing.

As shown in the drawing, the ring 8 or 8 'has sufficient diametral development to present a considerable abutment surface allowing the elimination of an added fungus. In the case of FIG. 1,
the ring 8 is taken out of a ring, while in the case of FIG. 2
the 8 'ring came from forge with the fuze.
