ACCUMULATOR BATTERY COLLAR.
The present invention relates to the terminals of accumulator batteries in particular those of motor vehicles.
In the known devices, the cable is fixed in a member located laterally and at the level of the collar, which makes it difficult to orient the cable because of the numerous parts such as the boubhons located near the terminal. The object of the present invention is to remedy this difficulty and also to allow the creation of a battery collar of simple design which is absolutely stainless and radically eliminates any danger of attack by acids.
It also aims to eliminate almost completely maintenance costs.
This device differs in main order in that the fixing of the cable is done in a part located above the terminal.
On the other hand, the battery terminal as well as the connecting members with the cable are advantageously housed in a casing made of a material which cannot be attacked by acids.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, this envelope 'is removable and comprises a base preferably resting on a seal and a cover; this base and this cover cooperating with each other to form a connector in which the cable engages.
The main element of the connection is a piece of brass or any suitable material conical inside and out, split vertically and provided with an external screw thread on which a tightening nut takes; upwards, this part is extended by a sleeve receiving the end of the cable in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the sleeve.
In order to make the invention fully understood, an exemplary embodiment thereof given without limitation will be described below, it being understood that numerous modifications can be introduced without deviating in order to

that of the field of the invention,
Figure 1 is a deployed view of the entire device showing in perspective the various parts forming part of the device.
Figure 2 is an elevational view of the collar.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view.
As shown in the drawings, terminal 1 of battery 2 is provided with a piece or terminal, for example made of brass, which comprises downwards a cone 3 provided with vertical slots 4 (fig. 1) and whose conical outer face has a thread on which a nut 5 takes. By acting on this nut, the cone is therefore tightened on the terminal.
The cone 3 is extended upwards by a sleeve 6 pierced with holes 7 facing each other and receiving in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the sleeve the end of the cable 8; this end is held in place by a needle screw 9 which engages in the sleeve 6.
On the battery 2 is supported all around the projection 1 an annular seal 10 of rubber or another material provided with a peripheral edge 11. On the ring 10 rests a casing of a plastic material or any other material. material formed of two parts: a base 12 and a cover 13 joined together by interlocking. At this interlocking, each of the elements 12-13 carries a half-connector 14-15 so as to give rise, after assembly, to a connector through which the cable 8 passes. A tubular seal 16, usually made of rubber, ensures the seal between the cable. connector 14-15 and cable 8.
Advantageously there is provided a means intended to prevent the rotation of the cone 3 on the terminal 1 and constituted in the example shown by small spikes 17 (fig. 1, 2, 3) which protrude on a bottom 18 provided for the cone 3 and which come into contact with terminal 1. Any other means could be adopted. For example, vertical grooves can be provided in the internal cone of part 3.
As will be understood, the connection described is designed so as to allow the placement of a protective envelope making the terminal certain safe from any attack by acids or acid vapors.
In addition, access to the connection members is easy since the casing can be easily dismantled and removed then put back in place; maintenance costs are reduced to a minimum and virtually eliminated, which constitutes a marked superiority over devices requiring a protective coating.
Finally, unlike what exists in known devices, the connection with the cable is made above the terminal and the entire arrangement makes easy orientation of the cable in any direction possible.
