La présente invention a pour objet de remédier à cet inconvénient par un procédé suivant lequel l'impression recouvrant le papier formant le document est normalement invisible, sa présence et son intégralité ne pouvant être constatées qu'à l'intervention de moyens spéciaux;

3 ) Benzinidazole,
4 ) Benzidine;
5 ) diaminodiphénilurée,
6 ) diaminodibenzyl
7 ) diphénylimidazolone,
8 ) phénylbenzothiazole,
9 ) benzocoumarine,

METHOD FOR DETECTING 'THE FALSIFICATION, BY ALTERATION,' OF PRINTED HANDCRAFT DOCUMENTS.
In order to detect fraud, by alteration, handwritten or typed inscriptions applied to certain documents, such as checks, commercial bills, passports, identity cards, notarial texts, control tapes of accounting machines and cash registers, documents accounts or transport tickets, various procedures have already been recommended to prevent any modification of these entries or texts, by scratching or erasing them. One can quote, among these processes, either the printing on these documents of a series of parallel and tight lines, appearing at the places intended to receive these handwritten or typed inscriptions, or the covering of the surface of the paper by a printing comprising letters, arabesque-shaped designs, or the like,
or even a simple uniform coating of light-colored ink, these impressions, or layer of ink, being intended to disappear when the inscriptions are scratched or erased, thus making it possible to note the modification of these and any possible fraud.
These methods have the drawback of being ineffective, because the forgers' skill has succeeded in reconstituting these impressions on the surface of the paper after scratching or gumming them.
The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback by a process according to which the printing covering the paper forming the document is normally invisible, its presence and its entirety being able to be ascertained only by the intervention of special means;
According to the invention, the surface of the paper constituting the document, intended to receive the handwritten or typed inscriptions is covered, by printing or other covering means, with a thin film of a fluorescent product, normally invisible. , the luminescence of which appears only under Inaction of an ultraviolet ray lamp.
In the application of the method according to the invention, the sheet or strip of paper, intended to receive the handwritten inscriptions, typewriter

lographed or printed, which it is desired to prevent alteration by scratching or gumming, is covered with a printing applied using a cliché or other inked printing medium, with a fluorescent product which deposits on the paper, desired places, a thin film of this product.
For this purpose, the fluorescent product known under the name of "Leucophore Fil or" Leucophore R "or an analogous substance derived from stilbene or other fluorescent agents derived from products such as:
1) Coumarin (eg Beta Methylumbelleiserone),
2) Diaminostilbene (such as 4,4 'bis (benzamidostylbene-disulfonic acid),
3) Benzinidazole,
4) Benzidine;
5) diaminodiphenilurea,
6) diaminodibenzyl
7) diphenylimidazolone,
8) phenylbenzothiazole,
9) benzocoumarin,
10) triaminophenylethylene.
These products are practically colorless and when applied in minute amounts to a support member, such as paper, under ultraviolet light they fluoresce a blue-violet to blue-green fluorescence.
Printing with a fluorescent product may affect different shapes such as printed characters forming any inscriptions at the user's discretion, full or dotted lines, parallel or crossed, forming geometric or arabesque designs, or constitute a uniform layer, this impression can be applied to part or the entire surface of the document to be sheltered from fraud.
The fluorescent printing being normally invisible, if the fal- sifier, ignoring its presence on the document, scratches or erases the latter at a determined location to modify the text, it removes the thin film of fluorescent product covering the paper. When examining the document with an ultraviolet ray lamp, it detects, in the fluorescent print, a dark spot in the luminosity of the surface.
If, on the other hand, the forger is informed concerning the presence on the document of the control method according to the invention, he must, in order to carry out the fraud, have access to appreciable material and time which he will lack in the process. majority of cases. If, however, he has the necessary means to reconstitute the entire print at the location of the scratching, the forger must work under the ultraviolet ray lamp and in this very case, the modification in the value of the dosage. of the fluorescent product would lead to easily recognizable differences in brightness.
