<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
aangepaste hoofdleiding aangekoppeld zijnde.
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

: Improvements to central heating boilers ".
The present invention relates to certain improvements made to central heating water boilers and similar devices such as, for example, greenhouse heating devices.
The improved water kettle according to the invention consists essentially of a generally prismatic body of which all outer walls are double and in water communication with each other.
Between its front and rear wall is a roof-shaped, double-walled grid which is also in water communication with the double walls; in the space of the firebox proper, one or more rows of vertical or approximately vertical water pipes are located along either side of the roof-shaped grate, while
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
behind the rear wall of the firebox proper, the exhaust gases are passed between multiple rows of vertical water pipes placed in zig-zag fashion before leaving the kettle.
Due to these special arrangements, maximum efficiency of the water boiler is obtained due to the extraordinarily large heating surface and the special grid arrangement with water circulation.
The essential features of the invention are explained in more detail by the following description of a non-limiting exemplary embodiment, which is schematically represented by the figures of the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 is a sketchy vertical section of the improved water boiler.
Figure 2 is a horizontal section along the line II-II of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a horizontal section along the line III-III of Figure 1.
Figures 4 and 5 are a plan view and a longitudinal section, respectively, of a portion of the grid, section taken along the line V-V of Figure 4.
According to these figures, the arbitrary exemplary embodiment of a water boiler consists of a prismatic body of which all outer walls are double, that is to say that the actual furnace space 1 is bounded by the double top wall 2, the double bottom wall 3, the double side walls 4 and 5. the double front wall 6, and the double rear wall 2.
Behind this firebox section 1, the water boiler is further extended by a heat recovery section 8 which has a partial double partition 10 outside a double rear wall 2, while the above-mentioned double walls 2-3 and 4 also extend to this recovery section.
In the firebox part 1 of the kettle is a
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
special roof-shaped grid 11 is placed, which is, as it were, suspended between the double front wall 6 and the double rear wall 2, is in water connection with it and is itself double-walled. Next to each lower edge of the grate 1 is mounted a rotatable longitudinal, in the present case a quadrangular rod 12, to which, by means of any working handle protruding outside the kettle, the appropriate movements can be given with a view to removing the ash.
On both sides of the grid the double bottom wall 3. and the double side walls, respectively 4¯ and converge in a widened part, 13 14 respectively of which, in the present case, on each side two rows of water pipes 15-16. draws that flow into the double top wall 2; these water pipes 15-16 are placed slightly oblique with respect to the vertical. At a certain distance above the top of the roof-shaped double-walled grid 11 comes the - double-walled - end 17 of the filling funnel 18 for the solid fuel, which is mounted on top of the kettle. The double-walled end 17 of the hopper 18 is in water communication with the top wall 2 and the rear wall 2 of the kettle, while a curved water pipe 19 ensures the connection with the grid 11.
In the recovery room 8, two series of water pipes, namely a triple row of zig-zag arranged vertical pipes 20, and a single row of vertical pipes 21, both provide an additional water connection between the double walls 2 and 3 of the boiler.
A lid 22 makes it possible to periodically clean this recovery chamber.
The cold water enters the boiler heating spaces through the pipe? ¯1, at the bottom of the boiler and exits the boiler through the discharge pipes 24-25 connected to the double top wall 2 and to one of the intended heating installations
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
modified main line being connected.
All the aforementioned double walls, the inclined water pipes in the firebox chamber, the vertical pipes in the recovery chamber, and the hopper end in the grate itself are in a single uninterrupted water connection so that the acquired heating surface is extremely large and, due to the arrangement even of the various elements, a thermo-siphon effect is obtained which ensures an automatic supply of cold water, an automatic discharge of hot water and thus an uninterrupted circulation of the heating liquid in the heating device.
The flue gases from the furnace 1 flow through an upward pipe 26 provided through the wall 7, pass between the zigzagged water pipes 20 and against the double partition 10 and then pass the exhaust pipe 27 running through the rear wall 9 of the recovery chamber 8 to the strut. - stone lined.
Figures 4 and 5 illustrate the double-walled construction of the roof-shaped grille 11; It is noted here that the grid consists of a top and a bottom wall, 28-22 respectively. between which the water circulates, the air supply openings 30 in this case consist of zig-zag-shaped slots located in the center of elongated interruptions 31 of the double wall 28-29.
Between the single-walled grate parts that are ventilated by slots 30, double-walled parts 32 remain, which thus ensure complete water circulation across the grate.
It goes without saying that the shape, the dimensions and the number of the air slots 30 and the corresponding single-walled portions are essentially changeable, depending on the intended practicality, material savings, the desired efficiency, etc.

Whatever the all kinds of achievable variants were in terms of shape, dimensions and mutual arrangements of the grate, the water pipes, the double walls, etc. combustion air, the thermo-siphon effect of the water circulation and the recovery of heat from the discharged gases.
It goes without saying that the present principle is designed to be applied to boilers of all capacities.
The improved water boiler can also be equipped with any additional equipment or elements known per se, such as fans, thermostats, etc.
