<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Means of conpoundae for systems controlled by electronic tubes".
In modern control art, electron tubes have now found wide use because of the wide possibilities inherent in them for solving, in a relatively simple manner, most of the problems arising in control systems. In order to carry out compounding in such systems, it is in principle possible to achieve compounding by providing the amplifier of the positive feedback regulator.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
However, such a faction, if it is sufficiently effective, gives rise to a natural oscillation.
The present invention relates to a method of introducing the reaction into such systems without incurring the risk of natural oscillations. According to the invention, this is done by taking a voltage drop from the circuit of the output plate of the amplifier of the regulator and feeding it into the input circuit of the regulator, in which, however, the occurrence of sudden variations in the voltage drop taken is prevented by means of a delay element comprising, for example, a capacitor mounted in shunt with a part of the resistor on which the mentioned voltage drop is taken. .
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, the application of the invention to a regulator for an electric generator.
If we refer to the drawing, 1 designates the ener- tor having an inductor coil 2, which is supplied from an exciter 3, the inductor frame of which is energized from two coils 5 and 6 acting by opposition. Coil 5 is fed from a constant current source while coil 6 is connected in the anode circuit of the regulator output tube. The regulator consists of two electronic tubes 7 and 8. The grid 9, inside the tube 7 connected in series with a grid battery or other constant voltage source 10, is connected to the control voltage that is. i.e., in this case, at the voltage of generator 1.
In order to obtain the necessary stabilization in the input circuit of the tube 7, a resistor 11 is placed, in connection with the exciter 3, by a capacitor 12. The output tube 8 is controlled in the known manner in technique, by tube 7, and its anode is connected with its cathode by a resistor 13, to which one of the poles of the generator is connected at a suitable point while
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
that its other blade, as mentioned previously, is coupled with the input circuit of tpbe 7.
The control means operates as follows: as the load of generator 1 increases, the voltage of generator decreases, which causes the grid of tube 7 to operate in such a way that the current in coil 6 decreases, increasing at the same time the excitation of the exciter 3 by the fact that the winding 5 prevails over the winding 6. As a result also, the current through the winding 2 and, consequently, the voltage of the generator 1 increases but only to such an extent that there is still a divergence, from the previous value of the voltage, as necessary to keep the current higher through the winding 2. No complete regulation of the voltage to the original value is therefore obtained.
An object of the present invention is to restore the voltage of the generator to its original value as completely as possible by introducing into the input circuit of the regulator a voltage which, despite the increasing load on the generator, allows the voltage of the generator. to return to the original value or even to surpass it without making the control system unstable. The required stability is obtained, as indicated previously, by considerably delaying the application of the compounding voltage which is introduced into the input circuit of the regulator. The compounding voltage is obtained by connecting one of the pdles of generator 1 to a point of the rheostat 13 while the other pole of the generator, as indicated previously, is connected to the input circuit of the tube 7 by battery 10.
The stability of the control system is maintained by bypassing a capacitor 14 to a part of the rheostat 13, from where it is necessary for an efficient action of the capacitor 14 that one of the poles of this one is connected to the.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
circuit of the cathode while its other pole is coupled with the rheostat 13 at a point located such that a sufficiently large part of the resistance is interconnected between said point and the anode of the output tube because the action delays The value of the capacitor depends on the size of this resistance.
This pole of the generator is connected to the rheostat 13 below a point chosen so that the voltage drop required for the compounding is introduced into the input circuit of the regulator by the rheostat 13.
Although in the example given, it was assumed that the voltage used for the compounding was taken from the output circuit of the regulator, this voltage can also be taken from another point of the regulator but in general, it will be more indicated. to take said voltage at the output circuit. Furthermore, it is not necessary to provide the delay by means of a capacitor which carries part of the rheostat 13, but it is also possible to imagine obtaining the delay by means of a combination of capacitors and d 'inductions.
