<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Method for plowing soil, and device for applying this method"
The invention relates to a method for plowing soil, in which at least two superimposed layers of soil are worked, the lower layer of which is turned over by means of a plow body, the invention also relating to a device for the soil. implementation of this method.
A process is already known for plowing the earth, in which at least two superimposed layers of the ground are worked and in which the lower layer is turned over by a plow body.
According to this known method, use is made of a plowing device which comprises two plow bodies arranged one above the other, the upper body of which protrudes forwards from the lower body. eur.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This device has the drawback that the aforementioned two layers of the ground are worked separately, so that the upper layer, which frequently constitutes the layer of cultivated soil, comes to be found, after plowing, under the. bottom layer that has been turned over.
The invention aims to eliminate this drawback and to create a method for plowing the earth, in which the lower layer of the soil is turned over well, but in which it is excluded that the upper layer of the land, that is, the topsoil or crop, comes to move under the upturned bottom layer.
According to the invention, this result is obtained thanks to the fact that the. upper layer of the soil is detached and is transported in such a way that this layer comes to rest on the lower layer which has been turned over by the plow body, after which the compound layer thus obtained is pushed back from the plow body in a furrow previously trained. When operating in this way, it is therefore excluded that the upper layer of the ground comes to be placed under the lower layer, since the lower layer of the ground forms, so to speak, a conveyor belt for the upper layer. The ground thus worked can then be plowed by a simple plow.
However, this can be done simultaneously with the turning of the lower layer, if the upper layer of the ground is turned over first, before depositing it on the lower layer which has been turned over.
It often happens that the thickness of the. top layer of the ground varies and there is sterile soil directly under this layer, so that it is not excluded that a slice of this sterile soil is detached at the same time as the top layer. When the top layer is then turned over, this slice of sterile earth would therefore come to the surface. By operating in accordance with the invention, this drawback can be
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
avoided thanks to the fact that, while detaching the upper layer from the ground, the height position of the organ which detaches this layer is adjusted.
The invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawing.
A plow body or ploughshare 2 is fixed to the frame beam 1 by means of a support arm 3 and a support plate 4.
The carrier member 5 is fixed to the beam 1 by means of the supports 6, 7 and 8, 9. This carrier member 5 is mounted above the plow body 2 and extends forwards to beyond of this plow body. At the front, the conveyor member 5 is provided with a knife-shaped protrusion 10, which cuts the top layer of the ground, after which this detached layer is transported on the plane 5 in the. direction of the plow body.
At the rear, the conveyor member is provided with a raised edge 11 by which the layer detached from the ground is moved into the. direction of a raised edge 12 of the plow body 2. At the front, this plow body is provided with a member 13 in the form of a knife, which detaches the lower layer of the ground, which is then turned over by the plane 2 and is driven back by an edge 12 directed upwards. It will be understood that this layer of soil which has been turned over acts as a conveyor belt for the layer of soil which is moved by the conveyor member 5 towards the plow body 2.
In this way it is impossible that the upper layer, which generally constitutes the cultivated soil, can come to be placed under the lower layer which has been turned over.
The conveyor member 5 is connected to the support arms 7 and 9 in an adjustable manner by means of the supports 6 and 8. In the practical construction, this adjustment is effected by means of a system. transmission, so that the height position of the transport member 5 can be changed during work. This presents the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
great advantage that, in the case where the topsoil layer has a variable thickness, the height position of the conveying member can be adjusted in a corresponding manner, so that it is always the topsoil alone which is detached by the knife-shaped member and is transported by the conveyor member 5.
It is useful to conform the. rear part of the conveyor member 5 in such a way that the layer of cultivated soil which has been loosened is turned upside down, at the height of the raised edge 11, before it is deposited on the inverted lower layer, so that a subsequent plowing of the land thus worked is no longer necessary.
It is also possible to provide these means at the raised edge 12, at the height of the raised edge 11, so that the plow body 2 ensures both the detachment and the turning over of the lower layer as of the upper layer of the ground.
A knife 14 is mounted on the frame beam 1, at the height of the cutting member 10, which knife 14 is also adjustable in height and serves to laterally cut the layers of soil.
The method according to the invention and the device used for its implementation are particularly suitable for plowing cultivation land where there is, for example directly under the topsoil layer, a relatively thin layer of earth which adversely influences the soil layer. arable land. Under this unusable layer of soil is then generally the layer which can exert a favorable influence on the topsoil.
In this case, it is customary to turn these two lower layers over, with the topsoil remaining in its place.
Using the device according to the invention, the topsoil layer is then loosened along the boundary plane of the layer which adversely influences the topsoil layer, after which the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
two lower layers in question are turned over, while the topsoil layer is deposited on the layers thus turned over.
