<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Installation to achieve synchronism of control motors of auxiliary working machines with the motor of a main machine",
The invention relates to an installation with the aim of achieving the synchronous operation of the control motors of auxiliary working machines with the motor of a main working machine.
In many factories it often happens that one or more auxiliary working machines have to operate in synchronism with a main working machine, in which case it is not only necessary to keep the speeds of the different machines at a determined ratio. one in relation to the other ', but it is also necessary to eliminate the errors' in the paths traveled, resulting from momentary fluctuations in the number of turns. Such an adjustment of the pitch is, for example, necessary in conveyor installations, controls of winches or reels, etc.

Auxiliary machines are most often controlled by three-phase commutator motors or by direct current motors.
It is known to solve this problem with the aid of so-called traction or step regulators, which are supplied by two different frequency generators, corresponding to the speeds to be compared. These frequencies are generated by synchronous generators which are driven, like electric dynamos, by the various machines, generally by means of: regulatory mechanisms. For factories which only have a small number of auxiliary machines to be kept in synchronism, this known solution has the drawback, however, that it is bulky and therefore expensive, and that it requires the use of a direct current source. for the excitation of synchronous generators.
The object of the invention consists of an installation with the aim of achieving synchronism of the control motors of auxiliary working machines with the motor of a main working machine, in which installation the drawbacks described are eliminated thanks to the fact that , according to the invention, the gold

[8.n8 regulator of each motor is xzcouplà to a motor with armature to. slip ring, which is fed, on the stator side and the rotor side, by frequency transformers, consisting of motors with slip ring armature which are driven by the main drive motor or by the motors to control the auxiliary machinery.
The appended drawing schematically represents an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
In the drawing, 1 denotes a main machine, eg a rolling mill, which is controlled by a flywheel motor 2 3, the number of revolutions of which is variable or can be adjusted. Auxiliary machines 4 and 4 ', eg polishing apparatus, winches
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
or reels, shears, etc., are controlled by the three-phase commutator motors 5 and 5 '. In order to achieve the synchronous operation of the auxiliary machines with the rolling mill, the motor with slip ring armature 6 is, on the one hand, coupled via the regulating mechanism 7 to the rolling mill motor, while, on the other hand, On the other hand, the motors with slip ring armature 8 and 8 'are coupled directly to the auxiliary motors 5 and 5'.
The three motors with collector ring armature 6.8 and '8' are, on the stator side, connected to the 50 cycle network. On the rotor side, these motors are connected to the auxiliary motors 9 and 9 ', which move the brushes of the commutator motors 5 and 5'. The stator of each auxiliary motor '9, 9' is connected to the rotor of the motor 6, and the rotor of each auxiliary motor is connected to the rotor of the motors 8, respectively 8 '.
In service, motors with slip ring armature 6, 8 and 8 'work as frequency transformers; they. supply the auxiliary motors 9 and 9 'with a certain sliding frequency. If the slip frequency is the same on the stator side and the rotor side, the auxiliary motors remain at a standstill, as long as the desired ratio between the numbers of turns is maintained. This ratio is adjusted by means of the regulating mechanism 7 ,, according to the work program.
If the number of revolutions of the main motor 2 varies, the slip frequency of the auxiliary motor 6 also varies immediately: The two auxiliary motors 9 and 9 'are no longer supplied with the same frequencies on the stator side and on the rotor side, therefore so that they start to rotate and move in a determined direction the brush-holder balances of the 5 5 'motors. Therefore, the number of revolutions of the 5,5' commutator motors is varied in the same way. than that of main motor 2, but
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
with a very small delay, since commutator motors do not immediately follow.
This small delay gives rise to a short exaggerated adjustment, during which the path lost in the meantime by the auxiliary machines is again made up, so that p. ex. in a winch or reel control, any formed loop is eliminated.
This installation has the advantage that, in order to obtain the required synchronous operation, only ordinary small motors with slip ring armature are needed, and that absolutely no contact is made during the adjustment operation.
The control motors of the auxiliary machines 5 and 5 'can be simply direct current motors, the auxiliary motors 9 and 9' then controlling magnetic field regulators. The number of auxiliary machines is unlimited. Regulating mechanisms can also be provided between the control motors of the auxiliary machines 5.5 'and the motors 8, 9' coupled thereto, if the numbers of revolutions of the motors 5 and 5 'cannot be equal to each other.
The order of succession of the connection of the stator and the rotor of the motors with collector ring armature coupled to the control motors, and of the auxiliary motors for the offset of the brushes of the control motors of the auxiliary machines, can be any. contrary to what is the case in the example illustrated, it is also possible that one of the auxiliary machinery (. the work is the pilot machine, the main work machine being ,,, then kept in synchronism with it in the manner described above.
