Figure 1, le dispositif représenté consiste en un
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
cas, figure 3 .

AUTOMATIC REACTIVE ENERGY COMPENSATION DEVICE USING CAPACITORS.
The present invention relates to an automatic device for regulating reactive energy, a device by means of which capacitors are successively switched on or off in order to maintain within desired limits the reactive energy absorbed in an energy distribution installation. electric.
There are known devices established for this purpose and in which a reactive energy relay controls, by closing contacts, the auxiliary members producing the switching on and off of the capacitors.
The control contacts and the auxiliary devices required by this relay are omitted in another known device in which the switching device producing the switching on and off of the capacitors is actuated.

mechanically and directly by a polyphase motor influenced by the current and voltage of the electric power distribution circuit. Due to the high energy consumption of this motor, this device has proved to be disadvantageous. According to the present invention, the latter device is made practical by the fact that, as a control member of the switching device, a reactive energy relay of the type of a reactive energy meter is used.
The energy consumption of such a reactive energy relay is practically negligible, so that the drawback presented by the known device no longer exists. In addition, the speed of rotation, low in itself, of the new relay is advantageous from the point of view of its construction.
Finally, the new relay differs from known devices by the fact that, as a result of the damping of the mobile measuring equipment still existing in the reactive energy meters, this equipment has no harmful inertia and takes remains, a speed of rotation which increases and which decreases in the same way as the developed driving torque and, consequently, in a manner corresponding to the value of the reactive energy to be regulated.
The control of the switching device is therefore carried out according to the value of the existing reactive energy, more or less quickly, with the consequence that the deviations from the value imposed for the reactive energy, deviations which are frequent in operation , can appear for a short time of a duration inversely proportional to their magnitude without giving rise to a modification of the blackout of the capacitors.
The accompanying drawings, given by way of example and which in no way can limit the scope of the present invention, show, schematically, various devices established in accordance with the principles defined above.
Figure 1, the device shown consists of a
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
reactive energy relay r established in the manner of a reactive energy meter in which the mobile unit rotates in different directions under the action of loads, either capacitive or induotive, that is to say whose moving crew remains at rest under the action of a purely active load.
The axis of the measuring system is coupled directly or by means of an appropriate mechanism, with the camshaft w, the rotation of which produces successively the closing of contacts b1, b2, b3 thus producing, practically, by l 'intermediary of auxiliary switches, the successive switching on and off of capacitor units c1, c2, c3, so as to maintain the reactive energy at a determined value, The rotation of the camshaft w is practically limited in both directions by a stopper x.
Of course, the reactive energy relay can, as is known in reactive energy meters, be set in such a way that it does not stop when the power factor is equal to unity, but when 'it stops for a power factor different from unity, for example, when the power factor is equal to 0.8 and it turns in different directions when this factor has taken a value greater or less than the previous.
If we want to prevent the reactive energy relay from acting during small deviations above or below the value set for reactive energy, this result can be obtained in a simple way, by exerting on the crew mobile for measuring the braking relay which must tend to overcome the motor torque thereof. Such start-up braking devices are known in the meter art and can be constituted, for example, by a magnetic brake or a counter spring.
In order to be able to easily modify the operating limits of the device, according to the present invention,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the starting braking device is established adjustable,
For example, as shown in Figure 2, it is possible to provide a rotating magnet under the action of an adjustment device
H to which is fixed a small iron hook mounted on the axis of the system. Depending on the distance existing between this small hook and the rotating magnet, the starting braking force has a greater or lesser value. The adjustment device H can be provided with a scale and be accessible from the outside.
Between the axis of the rotary system and the shaft w actuating the switching device, a friction coupling or other equivalent k is interposed, In this way, the measuring equipment can continue to rotate when the shaft has reached its position final and opposes' that the worm wedged on the measuring equipment moves, moves, and that, in this way, the bearings of this system are damaged, In addition, by this, we have the possibility of disposing on the axis of the measuring equipment, like the well-known remote control transmitters ,. a measuring dynamo to be able to observe on a measuring device connected to calle-oi, the instantaneous direction of rotation and speed and, with them, the value of the reactive capacitance load or the reactive induction load.
b1 is a contact actuated by the shaft for switching the various capacitors on or off.
Furthermore, in accordance with the present invention, the magnetic or mechanical braking at start-up is established, practically, in such a way that, in each of the two directions of rotation which correspond, one to the reactive induction loads, the other to the reactive loads of capacitance, it acts with a force different from that with which it acts in the other direction, namely, for an induotive load with a lower force than in the case of a reactive load
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
capacity.
In this way, we obtain the result that the adaptation limits of the reactive energy relay present, when the momentary reactive energy is of an inductive nature, a difference of a different importance from that corresponding to a reactive reactive due to a capacitance. , the adaptation limit being, in the first case, lower than in the second.
Consequently, the field of insensitivity of the relay is found, for the most part, in the field of capacitance loads, for the smallest part, in the field of inductive loads, which corresponds to the interest of consumption. .. energy source, since, as we know, inductive reactive power is, according to the tariffs in force, more expensive than reactive capacity power. This effect can be obtained with mechanical or magnetic means. In the first case, antagonist springs exerting different actions in the two directions will be allowed to act on the measuring system, the force of which must be overcome on starting. Devices of this type with magnetic actions are shown in Figures 3 to 5.
For this purpose, an iron wheel in the shape of a star is mounted on the axis of the mobile measuring equipment, so as to move in front of the poles
1 2 c1, c2 d one or two magnets. The arrangement and the shape of the magnets can be easily chosen so that the desired effect is obtained. In the device shown in Figures 3a to 3c, the force of attraction is represented by the arrows. FIG. 3 shows the arrangement of the moving element in the case of a zero load, therefore in the case where the moving element does not produce any torque.
The star s is placed in a position such that the forces exerted on it by the two poles c1, c2 are balanced.
During a reactive capacitance load or an inductive reactive load, a torque occurs in the corresponding direction, direction shown in the first case, figure 3b, in the second
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
case, figure 3. The star s then takes in the rest position before starting, the positions represented respectively in FIGS. 3b and 3c. In this way, in the case of figure 4b, the magnetic braking will produce a weaker force than in the case of figure 30 and this action can, as practice shows, be graduated in such a way that the starting limit forces in both directions of rotation are in the ratio of 1 to 10.
Instead of permanent magnets, as shown in Figure 4, an electromagnet can also be used, an adjustable resistor being able to be arranged in the circuit of its field winding so as to change the domain of. insensitivity of the device. FIG. 5 shows a device in which an iron core of electromagnet f energized by the voltage produces a constant additional torque whose direction of rotation corresponds to that of II at the motor power.
This additional torque can also be produced directly by the relay motor system without resorting to a special electromagnet of the type known under the name of voltage motor.
Thanks to this additional torque, the field of insensitivity of the relay is moved to the field of capacitance loads.
