<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

7 sont les endroits de support pour l'introduction de bouts d'axe amovibles 8, appuyés sur des chevalets 9 et pouvant de manière connue - 4 l'aide de régulateurs appropriés et d'un mo- teur silencieux 10 - être mis en mouvement, vibratoire ou uni- formément rotatoire ou alternatif, par exemple tantôt à gauche, tantôt à droite;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Rotating therapeutic bed.
The present invention relates to a rotating therapeutic bed, the medicating action of which is reinforced by particular provisions, and the construction of which allows any desired adaptation according to the conditions in each case.
Revolving beds are already known, suspended from axes so as to be able to oscillate and rotate, and receiving a rotary movement from a mechanical control. Special boxes are also known which are provided internally with box springs or elastic fabrics (for example rubber), and which are equipped with lids which can be closed, the openings having been left free for the figure and. the members.
The object of the invention is a new rotary bed, which, in addition to a rotating movement receives an oscillatory movement, and whose rotation control is connected with a device.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
adjustment; ; the head and the foot of the bed we have also taken measures which allow to introduce in different places of support, the ends of axis which transmit to the bed the rotating movement that by jerks or uniformly, so that the head and the foot of the bed alternately rise and fall during the rotation, with the aim of further activating by these changes of body position and with the aid of gravity, the circulation of the blood of man or l animal lying in the crate bed, thereby facilitating the necessary blood movements.
The support locations, intended to receive the ends of the axis and provided at different heights in the walls of the therapeutic bed, may suitably according to the invention be replaced by two guide slots made, one in the head panel. , the other in the footboard of the bed, so that each time the bed height changes, it will not be necessary to remove and reinsert the axle ends; we will simply have to push them into the guide slots to bring them to the desired position, and to stop them in this position by appropriate means.
It is known that hydrostatic pressure exerts a considerable influence on the movement of blood, often used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. However, the known medico-mechanical devices, serving in these buta, have many drawbacks; in particular, it is impossible to obtain with them continually changing and strictly adjustable influences of gravity on different sections of the circulation. The bed according to the invention which can be rotated in various directions is therefore more advantageous and simpler.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, some embodiments of the object of the invention,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Fi.l represents the therapeutic bed in an inclined position in an eccentric rotation phase.
Fig. 2 shows the same bed turned further, in a horizontal position,
Fig. 3 shows another embodiment of the therapeutic bed, in combination with a control mechanism known per se.
Fig. 4 shows the elliptical shape of the bed with the guides for the axle ends,
In Figs. 1 and 2, the frames 2 furnished with coil springs 1 form a closable box, padded internally so that in any position taken by the body while the bed is rotating, it can rest conveniently on a soft layer. The cover 3 is provided with an opening 4 for the figure and a second opening 5 for the hands, so that the person lying in the crate can open the cover and conveniently perform other hand movements.
Larger or smaller openings can be left free in other places as well, in order to allow radiation to be exposed, for example certain part of the body, while the bed is rotating. 6 is the lid closing device.
7 are the places of support for the introduction of removable axle ends 8, supported on trestles 9 and which can, in a known manner - 4 with the aid of suitable regulators and a silent motor 10 - be set in motion , vibratory or uniformly rotary or alternating, for example sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right;
the rotating movement and the displacement of the axle ends can be changed within wide limits for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, the rotating movement then being influenced by auxiliary regulators arranged before or after the command, @
With this simple device which has just been described, one arrives? * To change conveniently and in an adjustable way the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
keeping the person's body rind in the crate, thus making it possible in an advantageous manner the action of the component of gravity on movements of blood necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes; during the treatment, the person may sleep, read, and do various kinds of needlework and the like.
.In the embodiment according to Figs * 3 and 4, the guide slots 16 of the walls or panels 15 at the head and at the foot of the bed are used to receive the axle ends 8. Thanks to this arrangement, the latter can be brought to any desired location in the slots 16, by simple movement, as has already been mentioned above, and they can be stopped in the positions chosen by appropriate means, such as for example clamping screws, without having to remove them from their seat and insert them into another seat or support location, each time it is necessary to change the height position of the therapeutic bed.
To obtain a movement of the bed as free as possible from jolts and smooth, the axle ends 8 which transmit the movement to the bed may suitably be in two parts joined by a spring 13 which will absorb any jolts or shocks possibly originating from the motor 10.
The spring 13 further increases the elastic effect produced by the flexible layer on which the patient rests in the therapeutic bed. Said spring 13 may optionally replace the coil springs 1 of the bed frames 2, particularly when the two axle ends 8 have these springs 13 near the head and foot panels 15 of the bed.
The springs 13 in question therefore not only simplify the construction of the bed, but they reduce its weight by eliminating the coil springs 1, it has also been found to be advantageous to start the shaking movement or additional oscillation of an eccentric 12 which is placed on the motor shaft 10, and whose
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
uneven movement is transmitted to the axle ends 8 by appropriate means. The box 2 which serves as a therapeutic bed is not limited to a rectangular cross section shape; in many cases it may be practical to give the body an elliptical section (Fig. 4), or a shape even more suited to that of the human body.
This way the box bed becomes as small and light as possible. Since the elliptical shape adapts to the human body, the section of which is also substantially elliptical, all lost corners are avoided, and the volume and mass of the body are reduced to a minimum.
In Fig. 3, we have also shown the gears 14 which give the possibility of a variation of the motion transmission ratio, which makes it possible to print at the ends of the axis .. varied speeds, we have moreover a rheostat 17, established to regulate the speed of the control motor 10, with the axis of which the eccentric 12 is connected, which generates the shaking or oscillating movement.
By using known means, it is possible, at a place of the rotating part of the device easily accessible to the patient, to install a switch which allows him to set the therapeutic bed in motion or to stop it, at will.
