L'invention a pour but:

<EMI ID=6.1>

Improvements made to gouge holders
shoe-shaping machines.
In machine gouge holders, with shoes fitted with gouges and knives, rotating tools, and particularly ax-shaped knives, constitute a very serious danger to personnel. The cutter holder is well equipped with a protector; but this protector has for goal. to protect workers against the projection of chips or gouges in the event of breakage. It is ineffective in protecting the hands and arms of the worker when he places the raw wood between points. The cutter holder of the shoe machine is all the more dangerous when it is used by
a craftsman in general with little education in accident prevention. The clog machine is dangerous for him and his people.
Another drawback of the circular gouge consists in the fact that the noise produced by the rotating gouge is markedly greater than that produced by a gouge holder provided with gouges of the so-called branch type.

by producing special turbulence.
The present invention relates to improvements made to gouge holders of the above type, and in particular to that which was the subject of the French patent.

the device, which is a little less dangerous by eliminating the knives, and by reducing the cutting length does not ensure all
the security required.
The invention aims:

quick of the cutter holder.
It consists of providing the gouge holder with a
auxiliary disc or device taking its place, made of sheet metal or other material, with a view to limiting the cutting part of the gouge in a manner analogous to that used in so-called safety razors, At the periphery, this auxiliary disc has the shape of 'a torus in which the circular gouges are embedded. Said torus is a body of revolution generated by a circle whose diameter is an fear smaller than that of the circular gouge. Thus, with circular gouges of 45 m / m in diameter, the circle generating the torus will have a diameter of approximately 40 m / m. We can therefore imagine that the
<EMI ID = 4.1> therefore to a large extent safety and accidents will have a markedly reduced severity.
On the other hand, the drawback of the noise mentioned above disappears, the cavity of the cup-shaped gouge being in effect hidden and the gouge no longer offering any air intake.
The characteristics of these devices are set out in the description which follows with reference to the appended drawings, which description and drawings do not, of course, present any limiting nature of the invention.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a knife and an ordinary gouge, called a branch gouge, mounted on the gouge holder. Figure 2 is a sectional view of a tool holder provided with circular gouges. FIG. 3 is an elevational view of a holder 9 with circular gouges 6 provided with the device which is the subject of the present invention. Figure 4 is a sectional view along the line I-I of Figure 3.
We will consider Figures 3 and 4.

The disc 14 in the form of a torus at the periphery is formed by stamped sheets and it is fixed to the gouge holder
by any method, rivats 15 for example.
The gouge 6 will therefore only be able to remove the wood over a small thickness depending on the space left free at 16.
<EMI ID = 6.1>
will hide the cavity of the gouge 6 and, during rotation
of the gouge holder, the air will not be able to rush into the cavity
<EMI ID = 7.1>
by circular gouges.
It is obvious that the disc 14 instead of being of stamped sheet metal could be constructed with other materials following the principles of modern technology.
