Billiard table with internal lighting.
Until now, all billiards have been lit, without exception, by lamps placed above the billiard table. This lighting mode has the drawback that only more or less one-sided lighting of the beads is possible, resulting in clean shadows and cast shadows making it more difficult
the safety of the blows when they do not destroy it completely as is frequently the case. The difficulty of the game increases further due to the fact that the position of the shadows also changes with each change in the position of the balls.
The object of the present invention is to overcome this drawback, and this is achieved by the fact that in the billiard table itself there is arranged a lighting system which prevents the formation of clean shadows and cast shadows. This lighting system is made up of tubular electric lighting bodies housed in the space between the overhanging lower faces of the strips and the surface of the table itself.
Light sources are advantageously used which provide cold light. This prevents the relatively strong heat released by other light sources from expanding the table or other parts of the billiard table, which would influence their function.
The light tubes are mounted on the four sides of the bilge. They can be controlled by a single switch, but the tubes can be controlled independently for each side of the pool table and even for each of them. With a separate control of the lighting circuits, it is possible to adapt the lighting to each position of the balls and thus increase the safety of the game. In any case, the new lighting mode proposed offers the possibility of '' illuminate the balls in a uniform manner such that there is no longer any disturbing shadow and that the balls appear with sharp contours and clearly visible.
The new lighting mode is especially advantageous

The luminous crown produced by the new lighting mode will always shine somewhat when looking in the desired direction.
The accompanying drawing shows by way of example an embodiment of the subject of the invention.

are light sources housed in the angles or corners formed on the one hand by the lower surface overhanging the bands d and, on the other hand, by the billiard table. Light tubes _ $. are set back sufficiently so as not to be touched by the balls hitting the walls or bands of the billiard table. The lighting bodies can still be protected, covered by a rigid screen 1 ..
The connection to the current source is made in a known manner, for example in the corners of the billiard table.
A comparison of figs.l, 2 and 3 immediately highlights the great advantage achieved by the new proposed lighting mode. The strong cast shadows produced in fig. 1 and 2 by the usual lighting from above have completely disappeared in fig. 3. The balls are clear, the outlines appear clearly, without any discomfort, and it is conceivable that the safety of the game is considerably increased.
