<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La présente invention a pour objectif de permettre, à l'aide d'un dispositif spécial prévu sur l'appareil de bombar- dament dont question, de déterminer également la vitesse de vol quand le but à atteindre se trouve derrière l'observateur. On obtient ce résultat,conformément a l'invention,en tournant l'appareil de bombardement d'au moins 180 autour d'un axe vertical,en même temps que l'en renverse le sens de mouvement qui commande le réflecteur d'entrée à l'aide d'un mécanisme de commutation disposé dans le mécanisme d'horlogerie comman- dant le réflecteur;

r = T tg i 2 = 100 tg 12 .

"Device for determining the flight speed of air vehicles fitted with bomoe launchers".
Bomb throwers provided with a hermetic mechanism for adjusting the input reflector of the optical sighting instrument are not only used to determine the line of sight which hits the target at the moment the object is shot. 'we must launch a projectile which must hit this goal, but also to determine the flight speed of the air vehicle above the ground; however, this is only possible when, in the direction of flight; there is, in front of the observer, a point of reference motionless and clearly exceeding the surrounding objects.
When this is not the case, as this happens for example for a flight over the sea, we
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
cannot artificially create a motionless landmark of the species, only by throwing a floating body visible from afar; the latter, however, does not appear in front of the observer but rather behind him. As a result, it is not possible, with a bombardment device of the species, to determine the speed of flight.
The object of the present invention is to make it possible, using a special device provided on the bombardment apparatus in question, to also determine the flight speed when the target to be reached is behind the observer. This result is obtained, in accordance with the invention, by rotating the bombardment apparatus by at least 180 around a vertical axis, while reversing the direction of movement which controls the inlet reflector to using a switching mechanism arranged in the clockwork mechanism controlling the reflector;
in this way, the goal which is behind the observer comes to be placed, the height being known, in the field of view of the telescopic observation tube provided with a water level coinciding with the bubble of the level, the first time at beginning and the second time at the end; the measurement period. In this way, the travel speed of the aerial vehicle can be determined by the measurement time obtained.
The invention is represented by the drawings in the form of embodiments given by way of example. Figure 1 schematically shows the principle of the invention based on the device according to German patent 358.065. Figure 1 is a side longitudinal section, while Figure 3 is a bottom plan view.
In figure 1, we imagine the aerial vehicle stationary at point F @ a height BF = h, stretched out that the ground or the surface of the sea, carrying the goal to be reached, moves towards the aerial vehicle, towards the rear that is to say towards

-? l Pa tgl 1 tg 12 = P11P2 '(tb / 2' tg / 1 '), From the above consideration follows the fact that for a goal located behind the observer, we obtain a goal line triangle F Z1 'Z2' when we move 180 around the vertical FB a goal triangle F Zl Z2 usable for a goal located in front of the observer, while at the same time we reverse the direction of progression of point P1 'as point da the goal line FZ1 'at the start of the measuring time in relation to the direction of progression.
It is now clear that to adjust the aiming angle # 1 # 2 or # 1 '# 2' the direction of progression P0Q, P0Q 'of the points of the goal line P1 P2 or P1' P2 'can be any when , using any means, for example using toothed wheels, the angles FP1 P0, FP2 P0 or F P1 'P0', FP2 'P0' are exactly transferred onto the optical sighting beam as well as this appears in the embodiment shown in Figures 2 and 3. In them the reference 1 designates the objective and the reference 2 the eyepiece of the teles-tube. copic in the envelope of which is arranged a rotating input reflector 3.
This is located in front of a window 4 and can rotate around the horizontal coaxial journal 5. With the angle of the reflector is permanently mounted a toothed segment 6 which is attacked by a second toothed segment 7, the diameter of which is equal. half of the previous one.
The latter can turn on the toarillon

in either direction, depending on the position of the switching lever 13, the rotation of which is transferred by the axis 14 to a crank 15.; this caused, by the movement of a connecting rod 16, and in a known manner but not shown, the reversal of the direction of rotation of the axis of the clockwork movement 17, on which is fixed the spur gear 18 which engages the spur gear
19 permanently mounted on the threaded spindle 10.
The uniformity of rotation of the shaft of the clockwork mechanism 17 can be transferred, in a known manner, by an axis of needles to a needle 20 which moves on a scale 12a according to the position of the switching lever 13 in either way. The button 21 makes it possible to wind up the clockwork mechanism 12 while the button 10a fixed on the threaded axis 10 makes it possible to operate the simultaneous movement of the hands 8a and 20.
To obtain a sense of vertical orientation, the telescopic tube is provided with a transparent bubble level, and serving as a collective lens; the bubble of this level appears to float on the image of the goal straightened by the prism 23. oven allow the movement of this goal apparatus around a. vertical axis M, its sheath is provided at the bottom with a tubular neck il, which is housed freely in rotation in a cylindrical passage of the base plate P.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The instructions for using this device to determine the flight speed are as follows:
If in front of the plane, which is moving at a known height, a clearly visible goal appears, we first bring the switch lever on 13 to forward (v) and by rotating the b yesteryear.
EMI6.1
10a, we put the needle 8a on the scale lla at the height of flight, which gives the line of sight the angle of inclination # 1.- Now we fly over the bu as exactly as possible so that its image constantly approaches the bubble of the level,. At the time of the coincidence of this image with the bubble,
the clockwork movement is started by pushing button 32 with your finger, as is done for stopwatches; the goal image then first deviates from the. bubble to get closer to it soon. At the moment of the second passing of the image of the goal through the bubble of the level, the clock movement is stopped by giving a new pressure on the. button 22 and needle 8b thus indicates on the scale 11b a value corresponding to the angle of inclination # 2 of the goal line. according to figure 1, we get the relation tg

If now we choose the ratio h = 100 m / sec. i.e. for example if h = 3000 and T = 30 seconds, we obtain as flight speed according to the equation above:
EMI7.1
r = T tg i 2 = 100 tg 12.
If apart from the height scale 11a, a scale tg # llb is also provided on the rear part, in which case the end of the part 8 is known as a double, forked needle, 8a, 8b, by appropriately choosing the time T, namely T = 100 and the scale 11b as a hundredfold of the values tg #, by reading this scale alone, the indication of the flight speed. -tour adjust the inclination of the direction of goal # 1, it is naturally not necessary to run the clockwork movement for the entire te.aps required for point 1 to go from P0 to P1.
It is perfectly sufficient for the position of P1 to be brought by turning the end on 10a.
The speed measurement in the event of flight over the sea is done exactly in the same way in the case where we must first create a visual out behind the plane by throwing in the water a floating object. However, it should be taken care of, to allow aiming, to turn the device 180 and move the switching lever 13 to the rear (R), which causes the reversal of the current direction of travel. clock or even hands 8a and 20.
In case the auxiliary goal is towards the back, the goal line must first be set at angle # 1 in order to set in motion, as is the case in the case of a goal. auxiliary located in front, the clockwork by pressing button -, 2, at the moment when the goal image cuts the oulla of the level.
As a result of the rotation of the input reflector 3 which takes place, the image of the goal first exits the level bubble and approaches it after some time; at the second coincidence we stop, pushing the button:.; 2, the clockwork movement, at this moment the goal line has increased its angle
