Une méthode qui permet d'obtenir ce résultat, consiste a introduire un renvoi à rapport de trans- mission variable entre l'arbre commandé et l'organe à entrai ner, par exemple entre l'arbre 1 et les roues d'un véhicules - On exécute le cycle de contrôle décrite plus' haut avec l'engrenage à plus petit rapport on @@tion jusqu'à ce que les pignons du renvoisoient amenés à une vitesse qui permet- te d'engager le second rapport de l'engrenage;

"Electromechanical motion transmission device The present invention relates to an electromechanical motion transmission device, in which a motear shaft, a controlled shaft and an auxiliary shaft are connected between eax aa by means of a planetary gear at three active elements and in which a dynamoelectric machine connected directly or indirectly to the auxiliary amber driving 'or driven electrically by a dynamo-electric machine directly or indirectly connected to one of the two other shafts procare an means of making vary the coaple transmitted to the controlled shaft by varying the electrical speed of dynamoelectric machines.
It is important that one or the other of the active elements of the mechanism, the motear shaft, the driven shaft and the auxiliary shaft are connected, provided that the driven shaft is kept stationary, the shaft auxiliary turns in opposite direction
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
fitted to that of the motor shaft.
The object of the invention is to widen the field of applications of such devices, to increase the range of torques which they are capable of transmitting and to achieve savings in the weight of the dynamoelectric machines employed.
To this end, instead of mounting the electric machines directly on the shafts connected to each other by the planetary gear or of permanently connecting them by references to these shafts as has been done up to now, a speed reference is inserted. variable between a dynamo and the corre- sponding shaft of the planetary gear, so that during one of the phases of the control, when the shaft of the planetary gear in question rotates slowly, the dynamic is driven by said shaft with a high transmission ratio while during another phase the transmission ratio of the return is reduced or else the machine is made integral with the shaft.
Another saving relating to electrical machines is obtained by using the year of these two batches. To this end, coupling devices are provided, by means of which a dynamo bridge can be connected sometimes to the driven shaft, sometimes to the motor shaft. Preferably is interposed between the machine and the controlled shaft a gear whose transmission ratio is such that when the auxiliary shaft is stationary, the coupling element of the dynamo toarne at the same speed as the element. matching motor shaft coupling. Thus the advantage of a variable return between the dynamo and the planetary gear shaft is combined with the principle of transferring the dynamo from one shaft to another.
Another way to increase the possibilities of application and handling is the introduction of a second planetary gear having a driven active element.

reversal of the direction of travel, it will be understood that the connection to the arb @ s of the primary motor is also a connection to the motor shaft P. except for the aforementioned exceptions. A toothed coupling 7 is used to deactivate the gear 4 and to couple the dynamo G directly to the aaxial shaft A: Preferably, the control of the device described is executed as follows: The coupling 2 being engaged and the brake 6 applied, the dynamo G is driven by the motor shaft, by means of] ,, planetary gear and i, p, set of references 4.
The current generated by this dynamo is directed to the dynamo M. The cooperation of these two machines is adjusted in a different manner, for example by varying the intensity of. machine field. (cf., for example, Belgian Patent No. 211,445 or British Patent No. 9996/13).
The controlled shaft rotates when the torque transmitted to it .. ': the dynamo M by the gear 3 and the motor shaft 2 by the gear s, p, 1, (due to the resistance to the rota - tion of the dynamo G) is sufficient to drive the connected component (s); to this shaft, for example the wheels of a vehicle. By increasing the field strength of the dynamo G and weakening the field of the dynamo M, the speed of the dynamo G can be reduced to a low value, on which the brake B is applied, which makes the completely mechanical movement transmission.
The toothed coupling 7 can then be brought into engagement with the auxiliary shaft A. The brake 6 is then released, the coupling 5 engaged and the brake B released. The machine M is then driven directly by the motor shaft P and can supply electrical energy to the machine G which rotates as a motor directly coupled to the auxiliary shaft A. when the controlled shaft has reached the same speed as the primary motor, the T coupling is engaged and the movement is transmitted.

conical transmission 17 and a claw coupling 18 to another axis 19 of the vehicle. The two axes 15 and 19 being connected by means of the wheels and the track or rails on which the vehicual is driven, the machine M is coupled to the shaft L when the coupling 18 is engaged and to the primary motor when the coupling 5 is engaged.
In the case of a tractor vehicle, driving a train of vehicles, other dynamelectric machines corresponding to the machine M can be connected to the axes of the vehicles of the train set and supplied electrically in a manner similar to the machine M, while the latter is connected to the controlled shaft of the towing vehicle. In this arrangement the primary motear can either disengage the aid of the machine G electrically by engaging the couplings 14 and T. or by engaging the coupling 5 and using the machine M as previously described.
In the example of FIG. 5, there is no cross reference between the dynamolelectric machines and the planetary gear shafts. The machine M is coupled either with the shaft, controlled L by the coupling 21, or with the primary motor by the coupling 5. If the couplings 2.5 and 21 are simultaneously engaged, the same effect is obtained as by the clutch of T in the preceding examples, that is to say that the planetary gear s, p, i is blocked. A claw coupling 22 can be engaged to obtain reverse gear. In this box, the machine M is coupled to the primary motear by the coupling 5 and supplies the electric power to the machine G.
This assembly combines the advantages of that which is described in the English patent n 1582/09 with in addition the economy of an electric machine.
-We will have noticed that the systems described above in a similar way to those which are already known, have two speed ratios for which the transmission da

movement is entirely mechanical, one when the auxiliary shaft is held stationary and one when the planetary gear turns solidly. In some cases, it is advisable to have more speeds obtained by mechanical transmission; in this way, for a given range of total speed variations, the ranges of variations obtained by electrical control between the mechanical transmission speeds are reduced and smaller dynamo, electric machines suffice.
One method which makes it possible to obtain this result consists in introducing a reference with variable transmission ratio between the controlled shaft and the component to be driven, for example between the shaft 1 and the wheels of a vehicle - The check cycle described above is carried out with the lower gear ratio on until the idler pinions are brought to a speed which allows the second gear to be engaged;
the control cycle starts over and so on,
A device which offers greater advantages provides for the use of a second planetary gear with three active elements, The motor shaft drives an active element of each planetary gear, the other active element of the year of the gears drives the shaft. controlled, an other active element of the other gear drives (oa is driven by) the auxiliary shaft, while the two remaining elements of the two gears are interconnected,
An example of execution of such a device is shown in FIG.

According to the electrical control for machine G, machine G is supplied by machine M on the contrary.
A modification of this arrangement is shown in fig 8. The modification is of a structural face, the auxiliary shaft A1 being arranged concentrically with the auxiliary shaft A, so that the machine G is located at right of gear sl, pl, il, while machine M is to the left of said gear. now obtain a reverse speed by applying the brake B and applying the current from the machine Ml to the machine G to make it turn in the forward direction.
Fig. 10 shows another modification of the arrangement according to FIG. 8. The addition of a coupling 21 perne as in FIG. 5, to connect the machine M to either the drive shaft of the gear s1. pi, il, which is at the same time the auxiliary shaft A, or to the primary motor. The coupling designated by T1 in fig.-8 is designated by 5 in fig. 10, as in fig. 5., and as in the latter figure, the coupling 5 serves with the coupling 21 to fulfill the functions of the coupling T1 of fig. 8.
In fig. 11, the planetary gear sl, pl, il, is of the cylindrical wheel type. and a variable ratio gear is inserted between the auxiliary shaft Ae and the machine M. A brake 24 is used to put this gear into action. The smallest mechanical speed is obtained as before by applying the brake B and engaging the coupling 2. The brake. B is then released, the brake 24 applied and the machine M supplied with the current from the machine G until the latter is brought more or less to a standstill; then the brake B1 is applied. The brake 24 is released when the coupling 5 is engaged and when the brake B1 is released, the machine 'M is used as a high plane to feed the machine G. For the highest speed, the couplings 2,5 and 21 are used. all engaged.
Fig. 12 shows yet another modification of FIG. 8. The gear sl, pl, idl, is of the type with cylindrical wheels while the machines M and G are connected to the shafts of their respective gears by chain transmissions as in fig. 3. The couplings 9 and 12 are engaged until it is desired to reverse the electrical functions of the machines M and G, the first being, then co-coupled.

Once the highest mechanical transmission speed is reached, the couplings 5 and 14 are released, so that unseally there is no more electrically transmitted motion, but the machines are no longer running either.
A modification of the pin 7 is shown in FIG.
13, in which the machine M, instead of being coupled to the interconnected active elements of the two gears, that is to say the shaft A which is the auxiliary shaft of the gear s, p , i and the controlled shaft of the gear sl., pl, it is coupled to the controlled shaft L. If desired, means can be provided for decoupling the machine M from the controlled shaft L and for the 'mate to the primary motor shaft, as has been explained with reference to fig. 5. In the construction according to fig. 13, the two gears s, pi 1 and s1, P1, they are neighboring and can be surrounded by a suitable carrier.
The above constructions have been described by way of example only. These examples clearly show that these assemblies can be modified by adapting one or other of the elements described in another example to one example. for example, we can replace the gear s.p.i of each figare by the combined gear s.p.i and s1. pl, he of fig. 6, ilétant connected to the auxiliary shaft A and s and sl to the motor shaft. On the other hand, we can apply to the example of fig. 7, the juxtaposed gear s, pi, and sl, pl, il of fig. 13 by extending the shaft A to the right in a sleeve around the ordered shaft.
