<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Cellular block for the construction of insulating walls.
The object of the present invention is a cellular block which combines all the qualities required for the construction of perfectly insulating walls while exhibiting a resistance comparable to that obtained with the materials usually used in greater thickness.
The block is mainly distinguished by the following provisions: a) in order to create a solution of continuity and to oppose an impassable obstacle to humidity, a groove is made all around the block and cuts the vertical joints and horizontal; b) the cells are staggered and closed at the top to prevent the transmission of heat or cold through the wall by convection.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Various other characteristics will emerge better in the course of the following description with reference to the appended drawing showing various exemplary embodiments of the invention, and in particular: FIG. 1, a normal block, seen in longitudinal vertical section according to 1 on line 1-1 of Figure 3; FIG. 2, the same seen in transverse vertical section along line 2-2 of FIG. 3; fig.3, the same seen in plan; fig. 4, a side rebate block seen. in horizontal section; fig. 5, a lower rebate block seen in transverse vertical section.
All around the block is a groove a-a 'cutting the vertical and horizontal joints, thus creating a solution of continuity opposing an impassable obstacle to humidity.
This groove.!. also allows the manufacture of lintels and covered with openings (figure 5), by placing there before laying a frame with brackets k, the lower groove a 'and the median cells.!. being filled with cement mortar as shown in figure 5.
The upper groove filled with concrete after laying with continuous reinforcement, allows chaining at the level of each floor.
The walls can be reinforced vertically by perforating the central cell and each two layers for the massage of vertical bars.
The block has three rows of cells b-e placed in staggered rows (figure 3), these cells being closed at the top to prevent the transmission of heat or cold through the wall by convection.
The blind cells also allow masonry without loss of mortar.
The aim of the pointed shape of the side cells b is to regularly release the pressure on the vertical partitions, which alone bear the load.

Wound rabbets, provided on the upper face c, limit the mortar of the joints and ensure good adhesion of the as-. if @@ s superimposed 'Finally, grooves d (Figure 3) provided on the interior and exterior facings are intended to facilitate the adhesion of plasters and plasters.
The normal block is presented as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, i.e. with three rows of cells, reinforced blocks can be made by increasing the number of rows of cells, and from of five rows may have two grooves such as a.
The special blocks necessary for the construction are, apart from the half-blocks, the side rebate blocks (figure 4), or the lower rebate blocks i (figure 5), for jambs and bay covers. The blocks can be molded with a plain siding, or. ornamented on demand.
For the rebate block according to FIG. 4, one of the lateral grooves is omitted and replaced by an additional cell h, a lateral cell & is reduced in width.
The manufacture can be undertaken with all agglomerable materials, regardless of the inert material and the binder: sand and cement, briquaillons and cement, clinker, sawdust, cork agglomerated with @@ ai or cement, crushed rocks and cement. , crushed milk, etc., the manufacture can be done by hand or by machine.
The block will find its application in all constructions, dwellings or industrial buildings, enclosure walls.
The invention is moreover not limited to the example embodiments shown, any modifications of detail which may be made thereto which do not alter the principle thereof.
