<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Dans la description ci-après, il sera référé aux figures du dessin annexé dans lequel la figure 1 est une élévation sché -matique de la super-structure d'un séromoteur avec sa roue à ailes pivotantes et son chariot tournant avec gouvernail; la figure 2 est une vue schématique sur plus grande échelle mon- trant les particularités du montage de la roue aéromotrice - sur un arbre creux et des organes transmettant l'effet d'un régulateur centrifuge au dispositif qui influence la position des ailes par rapport au vent;

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"advanced training in aeromotors."
The object of the present invention is to improve aeromotors and particularly aeromotors of the type in which the air-powered wheel comprises spokes perpendicular to the axis and around which the wings pivot, and oblique supporting spokes and in which the position of the wings with respect to the wind is adjusted by means of an adjustment device which, either automatically or manually, acts on the position of the wings, in particular through the intervention of a sliding member on the bearing shaft. wheel.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In these types of aeromotors as they are known until now, the perpendicular spokes are fixed in the part of the hub furthest from the bearing through which passes the horizontal or inclined axis of the windmill, the spokes from its oblique -holding then come and then the sliding member.
This arrangement has the disadvantage of presenting a considerable overhang and this defect is all the more important as almost all the weight of the wind-motor wheel weighs at the place where are fixed the perpendicular spokes carrying the wings and on which also rested almost the entire weight of the rim.
In addition, in the types of aeromotors in question, the sliding member is generally formed of an annesuportant on one side a disc which end with the rods actuating the wings and on the other side a collar provided with ball bearings whose diameter must be considerable in large constructions. to such an extent that they are practically prohibitive.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these various drawbacks by means of a special arrangement of the seromotor wheel and of the sliding member.
In the following description, reference will be made to the figures of the appended drawing in which FIG. 1 is a schematic elevation of the superstructure of a seromotor with its wheel with pivoting wings and its rotating carriage with rudder; FIG. 2 is a schematic view on a larger scale showing the peculiarities of the mounting of the air-motor - on a hollow shaft and members transmitting the effect of a centrifugal governor to the device which influences the position of the wings with respect to the wind;
FIG. 3 is a detailed plan view. - $ aeromotor includes a bylone 1 carrying at its top a rolling circle 2. Inside the pylon, there is a cage
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
tonnante 3 carrying a carriage 4 which, by means of rollers 5, moves with the intervention of the tail 6.
The carriage 4 carries two bearings 7 and 8 in which the axis 9 rotates. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the oblique axis 9 is drilled right through in the long direction of a hole 10. of small diameter which widens considerably in the part of the axis exceeding the front bearing 7} moreover this axis, also in its part which exceeds the bearing 7, is pierced with two slides in which passes the bolt 12 of which it will be discussed below.
The oblique axis 9 carries at its end projecting the pad 7 a disc 13 in which the oblique spokes 14 end, which on the other hand are fixed in the rim 15. This axis 9 also carries a second disc 16 in which are fixed the spokes 7 perpendicular to the axis and around which the wings 18 rotate.
Between the two discs 13 and 16 is the sliding member 19 to which the rods 20 terminate which, through the intervention of return pulleys 21 and centering pulleys 22, control the wings 18,
The oblique axis 9 carries in the hole 10 of which a rod 23 is pierced, the end 24 of which is located in the widened part 11 of the hole 10 so as to slide easily into this hole without being able to float.
This part 24 of the rod 23 is integral with the two sliding member 19 by means of a bolt 12 which pierces them all and which slides in the guides made in the shaft 9.-
As shown more especially in Figure 3, the rod 23 carries at its rear end projecting the axis 9, a reinforced end on which takes a collar 25 preferably in the intervention of rolling, ball 26 and bearing two arms 27 which
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
in turn carry tubular guides 28 sliding on two bars -2 'fixed in the super-structure of the rotating carriage.
To the arms 27 are connected without being completely fixed, two rods 30 which are subject to. a cross member 31 which in turn is guided by the bars 29 by means of sleeves or eyelets.
The rods 50 fixed to the arm 27 at points 32 are movable around said points 32 as well as around point 33.
As shown in Figures 2 and 3, at the cross member 31 the cables 34 terminate which, through the return pulleys 35, 36 and
37 relate the system to the centrifugal governor
38. On the other hand. this is actuated by the aeromotor wheel with the intervention of the axis 9 and the gear multiplication gears 39, 40, 41 and 42.
The wings are kept from the wind by return springs 43 fixed on the one hand to the support spokes 14, on the other hand at any point on the wing. The sliding member 19 obeys the return springs 44 fixed on the one hand to this member, on the other hand at external points 45 established in front of the disc 13 by any suitable construction which is integral with it.
It will be understood that the position of the wings 18 will be adjusted according to the force of the wind by the centrifugal regulator which, acting on the cables 34, moves the rod 23 which in turn drives the sliding member 19 which controls the pivoting. of the wings to the intervention of cables 20 passing over return pulleys 22, al. these movements being made against the action of the return springs 43 and 44.
A word of explanation concerning figure 3 and the system ending the rod 23 which crosses the axis 9.
If the arms 27 were not provided with tubular slides 28 guided by the fixed rods 29, as soon as the cables 34 are slightly unequal for a time, which is inevitable, the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
collar 25 would brake on the ball bearing 26 and even. being guided groin $ @ if there were not the more or less mobile part. rods 30. rods 31. etc .... there would be excessive friction of the slides 28 on the rods 29.
CLAIMS - 1.-In an air motor of the model described, the arrangement of the seromotor wheel at the end of a hollow shaft and at a point close to the outer support bearing, the said hollow shaft comprising disks suitably spaced apart from which the spokes of the wheel abut, an axially sliding member being disposed between the two discs to constitute a connecting element between the devices regulating the position of the wings in the wind and a centrifugal regulator which communicates with said sliding member. by a member passing through the hollow shaft.
