<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Advertising curtain for performance halls."
The present invention relates to an advertising curtain for performance halls and its equipment. This device consists, in principle .d'a upper cylindrical roller controlled by means of an electric motor, by means of gears and reduction.
On this cylinder is placed an endless canvas serving as a billboard and which is stretched at its lower end by another smaller cylinder, allowing by its weight, the tension necessary for the continuous rotation of the claim canvas.
At the time of the performance, the operation of a special switch allows the stopping of the continuous rotational movement, as well as the recall at the top of two sides of this advertising canvas, thus unmasking the scene and allowing the execution of the show.
The lower cylinder rising with the canvas, its fixed has
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a height determined in order to completely clear the entire stage and, when it reaches its final running point, automatically triggers the stopping of any movement in the acquired positions; .
., nfln the show finished, a simple operation of the special switch allows the canvas to descend into its first position as well as its co @@ inu rotational movement. A new operation of the same switch causes the total shutdown.
The invention will be described below with reference to the figures of the appended schematic drawing:
Fig. 1 shows a front view of the mechanism and upper window. fig.2 shows a side view of the device with the curtain.
Fig.3 shows a plan view of the mechanism and upper roller.
An electric motor 1 of suitable force controls by means of a worm 2 and helical wheel 8 with gear reduction and leather pinion, the drum 4 presented as a set in Fig.l and 3.
This upper drum 4, made up of a metal assembly allowing absolute rigidity as central bending and lined at equal intervals with wooden segments giving a round section, is lined with coarse canvas, to facilitate adhesion. canvas claims 5.
This canvas 5 Figure 2, is stretched from below by a cylinder 6 consisting of a stretched steel tube suitable for the ends, in order to be able to slide and be guided on steel wires 7 stretched from the floor of the scene has the grid thereof.
An electric control switch, mounted on the control panel, allows by its two contact positions, diametrically opposed, to reverse the direction of rotation of the motor and consequently the direction of travel of the upper cylinder -4.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Two levers 8 and 9 iL one way, force, by means of a steel cable 10 fitted with bearings at 11, the two thicknesses of the curtain 5 to be folded over the cylinder 4 in a given direction of rotation.
A release lever 12 mounted on a special pulley 13, allows the switching off and stopping of the engine - when the special guide - of the lower cylinder 6 has reached the extreme point of its stroke.
This release lever 12 operates the stop by means of a return cable joining its special pulley with the saddle of the switch, the latter placed in extension of the axis of the switch and fixed behind the control panel.
An emergency device, in the form of a winch 14, allows the curtain to be raised in the event of an accident occurring to the control devices.
A special coupling allows the motor to be switched off.
We assume that the canvas 5 is fully unrolled and completely at a standstill: the operation of the switch by 1/4 turn clockwise, starts the motor 1 ot via the gears. and reduction actuates the drum 4 in the direction of rotation of clockwise, the drum seen from the gangway 15 of the motor 1. This operation therefore allows the canvas 4 to rise from the bottom to the top, for the front part. , view of the spectators, which gives the rising and normal reading. the movement is absolutely continuous, preferably at a speed of 9 meters per minute.
A second switch operation (always in the same direction) cuts the motor current, a third operation (same direction) puts the motor again, however, having switched two phases (AC motor, rotor short-circuited) which therefore gives the motor and the cylinder a reverse rotation.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
This change of direction 'of rotation allows, immediately, the enolanohement of the two end levers 8 and 9 of the upper drum 4, which obliges them to turn in their turn and which through the cable 10 with bearings balls 11 force the front part of the canvas 5 to fold up at the same time as the rear part, on the upper cylinder 4.
This maneuver therefore caused the rise of the two parts of the canvas 5 and of the lower cylinder 6 which slides along its guides made of steel wires 7. This cylinder 6, having reached the upper limit assigned to it, causes l @ oscillation of the click pulley 13, which by means of its connecting cable forces the switch to turn also by 1/4 turn (same direction) which cuts the motor current and forces the stopping of the upper cylinder 4. However, the stop not being instantaneous the lower cylinder 6 centime, still its rise somewhat and allows the escape of the pulley. click 13 which returns to its first position, as well as the switch control pulley under the action of a suitable counterweight and located below the control panel.
A further rotation of a quarter turn of the switch (same direction) causes the motor to be switched on in the first direction indicated and therefore the unwinding of the curtain 5 begins.
The lower cylinder 6 therefore descends. At the bottom of its stroke, the canvas 5 continues its continuous rotational movement, as before.
A new and final switch operation (same direction) cuts the current again and stops everything, thereby putting things back to the starting point.
In the event of an accident / to the control parts of this device, a simple operation allows the curtain to be raised by hand. Indeed, it is enough to press on the spindle of the coupling sleeve and to remove this one so that all the system of gearing and helical boot 3 is out of service,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
pull lightly on the crank 16 of the winch 14 and the latter engaging its pinion 17 to the toothed wheel 18 provided, it suffices to turn in the desired direction. Arrived at the determined height, a rock maintains the whole in the desired position.
For simple reverse maneuver descent.
