Field of the invention

According to a first aspect, the invention relates to a composition, for preventing or reducing the effects of alcohol intoxication following a punctual, excessive or non-abusive consumption of alcohol by a human being, such as in particular headaches , nausea, vomiting, dizziness.

The invention relates according to a second aspect to a use of the composition as a food supplement or as a drink. This use may be intended to prevent or reduce the symptoms associated with occasional alcohol consumption.

State of the art

When a person consumes alcohol on an ad hoc basis, and not necessarily in significant proportions, he may be prone to xylostomiasis syndrome, otherwise known by the veisalgia neologism, and more commonly known as a hangover. Compositions to combat this syndrome have been developed. Another example of a composition intended to treat xylostomiasis is described in document EP2384648. It includes a mixture of omega-3 fatty acids, gamma linolenic acid and vitamin B6. This composition is used to prevent or reduce disorders related to the absorption of alcohol. This composition has the merit of reducing the symptoms of xylostomiasis, in particular thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of omega-3, but does not act on the causes. This composition therefore acts essentially by the reduction of the effects felt by the patient rather than by the disappearance of the derivatives of ingested alcohol, which are the cause of the state of xylostomiasis. This solution is not satisfactory because without treatment of the causes, the state of xylostomiasis can on the one hand take on a greater magnitude, and on the other hand be longer in duration. There is therefore a need for a composition comprising relatively inexpensive compounds making it possible to reduce, or even to inhibit, the effects of occasional alcohol consumption. In addition, a composition whose intake could be limited to a single intake before, during or after the consumption of alcoholic beverages would avoid situations where the subject does not consume the composition at the desired time or situations where the subject does not respect not the number of takes required. Furthermore, such a composition should be stable over time and retain its properties, appearance and initial taste in a lasting manner.

Summary of the invention

One of the aims of the present invention is to provide a composition which partially reduces, or even completely inhibits, at least one symptom of xylostomiasis, a condition caused by alcohol consumption in a subject.

Another aim, paired with the first, is to provide a composition in which a single intake before, during or after consumption of alcohol is sufficient and effective. To this end, the composition according to the invention for preventing or reducing the effects of alcohol intoxication comprises:

- at least one amino acid chosen from the group consisting of N-acetylcysteine, cysteine and cystine,

- at least one hepatoprotective compound, and

- at least one electrolyte.

Thus, the composition of the invention can for example comprise the following amino acids: an N-acetyl-cysteine, or a cystine, or a cysteine. In addition, as soon as a composition according to the invention comprises at least one electrolyte, it also contributes to the rehydration of the organism, consumption of alcohol systematically causing more or less significant dehydration of the organism.

The combined effects of at least one hepatoprotective compound, at least one electrolyte and at least one of the amino acids mentioned above allow the composition to be more effective in combating veisalgia.
