Abstract

Description

The field of the invention is that of reins and, more particularly, reins for competition horses, the end portions of which are fixed to the bit rings. The reins are long flexible straps generally held in full hand by the rider to control the direction, the speed of the horse and to "place" it.

Generally still, the reins are made of leather except for racehorses, for which and for a very long time, these have been straps comprising a core of a plastic material with high resistance to breakage, for reasons that are easy to understand. This core is surrounded by a plastic or rubber envelope. The reins for racing horses are therefore solid and without the slightest area of weakness. It is not the same reins for competition horses or other show jumping competitions, which are leather, sometimes canvas, and which have areas of weakness in several places that the invention of the present application will eliminate. This is the problem it solves.

By reins for competition horses, we mean in fact reins other than those for racing horses, with the possible exception of fixed reins and harness reins.

We will then consider that a rider leads his horse with two reins which form a single strap with, in the central part, for the grip, a "reins hand", made of rubber to better feel the mouth of the horse, which is extended on both sides by a leather branch. Thus, the leather branch and the rein hand form a rein. This definition is consistent with the expression "hold the reins of his horse".

BE2017 / 5728 the end. Well it is at the junction between the leather branch and the rubber rein hand, on the one hand, and the attachment of the branch end to the hook, on the other hand, that the rein presents weaknesses.

To overcome these weaknesses, the invention therefore relates to a rein for competition horses comprising a leather branch connected by a rear end to a rubber rein hand, the free front end of the branch being arranged for, after folding over it - even, to be hooked to a hook anchored to the branch and protruding out of it and to thus form a loop, characterized by the fact that a strong plastic core extends in one piece in the hand rein and branch to the end of its end.

Today there are particularly resistant plastics, with very high tensile strengths, such as for example fishing lines, parachute or paraglider lines.

Consider, for example, polymer yarns, such as high strength and very light nylon.

The threads found on the market are also very thin and very light and therefore cannot hinder the aesthetics of the rein; they remain invisible.

This refinement of the reins for competition horses, while in a state of great simplicity, remains nonetheless highly inventive.

Indeed, it had been years, more than thirty years, that a nylon thread had been introduced into a rein, in this case, for racing horses. Nothing had prevented the manufacturers of reins from slipping one into their reins for competition horses.

They had never dared to do it for fear of not being able to offer beautiful reins. This strong reserve is all the more surprising since the rein of the hands of the

BE2017 / 5728 reins for competition horses have always been made of rubber, like all reins for racing horses which incorporate a nylon thread, sometimes with a polypropylene core.

The fact of having overcome such a long wait to copy the production of the rein of the reins for competition horses completely on that of the reins for racing horses and of having dared to extend the resistant thread of the rein of the rein rubber in the leather rein branch, implies the inventive step required for the patentability of the rein of the present application.

In the preferred embodiment of the rein of the invention, the rein hand has an outer rubber cover and the rear end of the branch is engaged in the rubber cover of the rein hand.

Advantageously also, the hook of the free front end of the branch comprises a plate which is anchored between the branch and a piece of leather strap in which extends a piece of strong plastic core.

The invention will be better understood using the following description of the preferred embodiment of the rein of the invention, with reference to the attached drawing, in which:

The rein, which will now be described, comprises a rein hand 1 and a branch 2. The branch 2 has a rear end 3, by which it is connected to the rein hand, and a free front end 4, intended to be attached to a bit ring. For this reason, the free front end 4 of the branch 2 is such that it can form a loop 25 for attachment to the jaw. Thus, between two passers-by 5, 6 is hooked to the branch 2 a hook 7 for loop formation and, near the end 8 of the free front end 4, is formed an eyelet 9 for hooking this free front end 4 on the hook 7, after folding the front end 4 on itself and passing through the second pass 6 and before passing through the first pass 5, to form a loop 25 (not yet closed in FIG. 1).

The rein hand 1 comprises an outer rubber casing 10 intended to be held in hand by the rider, an envelope in which the rear end 3 of the branch 2 is engaged, the junction zone being covered by a small lining sleeve 11 To improve the grip of the rein hand by the rider, the surface of the envelope 10 has some reliefs of roughness 12.

The branch 2 generally comprises two outer strips of leather 13, 14 sewn together along their lateral edges. The rear ends 15, 16 of these strips are therefore engaged in the envelope 10 of the rein hand 1 and the fixing of these to the latter is ensured by a transverse seam, a longitudinal central seam 17 (FIG. 1) which extends along the rein hand and also by the lining sleeve 11 fixed by this middle seam 17.

The two strips of leather 13, 14 extend to the end 8 of the branch 2. The hook 7 comprises a plate 15 and this plate as well as the two passers-by 5, 6 are secured, or anchored, to the branch 2 by a piece of leather strap 16, passed through the loops and crossed by the hook 7, and fixed to the two bands 13, 14 and thus thus forming an integral part of the

The leg 20 of the hook 7 extends substantially perpendicularly to the two bands 13, 14, projecting from the piece of strap 16 and of a sufficient length to ensure the attachment of the branch end.

The piece of strap 16 is also formed by two pieces of leather band 17, 18 taken in the same lateral seams from the edges of the bands 13,

Note that in order not to overload the sectional views of Figures 2 and 3, the hatching is not very rigorous.

Note also the rib 19 for reinforcement and embellishment integrated into the branch 2 by deformation of the leather band 13.

The rein which has just been described, but not completely, is remarkable by the fact that a core of force 21 of plastic material extends in one piece in the hand of rein 1 and in the branch 2 until tip 8 of its free front end 4.

Likewise, a piece of core 22 of plastic material also extends in the piece of strap 16.

The reinforcement cores of the rein of the invention, although high strength and very light nylon, as used for the parachute and paraglider lines, are preferred, may be made of other polymeric materials. .

It must be a material with high resistance to rupture, not very sensitive to temperature and humidity. It may then be filaments of aramid or polyester fibers which can be sheathed with polyester fibers.

One could leave in the rein hand of the rein of the invention, as a core of complementary strength, the polypropylene yarn formerly incorporated, in addition to the core of strength extending continuously throughout the rein , in the rubber rein as in the leather branch.

By way of indication only, the internal leather strip 14 of branch 2 may have a thickness of 2.4 mm, the external leather strip 13, a thickness of 1.2 mm and, the piece of strap 16, a thickness of 2 mm.

1. Reindeer for competition horses comprising a leather branch (2) connected by a rear end (3) to a reins hand (1) in rubber, the free front end (4) of the branch (2) being arranged for, after folding back on itself, to be hooked to a hook (7) anchored to the branch (2) and protruding from it and thus to form a loop (25), characterized in that a web of force (21) made of plastic extends in one piece in the rein hand (1) and the branch (2) to the end (8) of its end (4). 2. Reins according to claim 1, in which the rein hand (1) comprises an outer casing (10) of rubber and the rear end (3) of the branch (2) is engaged in the rubber casing (10 ) with the rein hand (1). 3. Rein according to one of claims 1 and 2, wherein the hook (7) of the free front end (4) of the branch (2) comprises a plate (15) which is anchored between the branch (2) and a piece of leather strap (16) in which a piece of plastic core (22) extends. 4. Reins according to claim 2, in which a lining sleeve (11) covers the rubber casing (10) with the rein hand (1) and the rear end (3) of the branch (2) in their junction area. 5. Reindeer according to one of claims 1 to 4, in which the main web (21) in one piece is made of a polymer material. 6.
