Abstract

The present invention relates to a kit for manufacturing a customizable pillow. The kit includes a pillow core provided with two outer zones located along opposite sides of the pillow core to support the neck, and a central zone between both outer zones to support the head. The outer zones have distinct heights and the height of the central zone is smaller than the height of the lowest outer zone. Furthermore, the kit contains three layers with distinct heights and each with a surface in shape and size equal to the cushion core and a stretchable cover suitable for covering the cushion core placed on up to the three layers. The invention also relates to a pillow made by means of the components of this pillow kit.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an improved pillow to ideally support the head and neck during sleep.

More particularly, the invention relates to a pillow kit containing various components that can be assembled by the user according to his / her physique into the ideal sleeping pillow to support the head and neck.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

It is known and scientifically proven that good sleep is essential for good health. By sleeping we can recover both mentally and physically from the efforts of the past day.

However, for good sleep, correct posture of the body is important. Incorrect posture when sleeping is often caused by the use of a bad mattress and / or pillows.

This then results in neck and back problems and sleep deprivation.

U.S. patent no. 9,179,781 describes a mattress (= Yuno mattress) where by means of different inserts at the height of the shoulders, the waist and the hips an ideal sleeping position for the body can be obtained.

However, a mattress does not solve the head and neck posture during sleep.

However, many sleeping problems can be reduced to an incorrect posture and / or position of the head or neck during sleep.

There is therefore a need for a sleeping pillow that can ideally support the head and neck for each person during sleep.

It is generally accepted that ideal support for the head and neck means that during the night's rest the spine is supported in such a way that it remains horizontally positioned.

Ergonomically sized pillows are available to achieve this goal, with the 'average' person as the starting point in the design of these pillows.

The big problem here is that this so-called 'average' person is a scientific fiction and that in reality only a very small part of the population meets the standards of that 'average' person. In practice, this means that the vast majority of the population rest his head while sleeping on a pillow that is either too soft or too hard, or is insufficiently high or too low at the height of the head, and / or is insufficiently high or too low at the neck.

The direct feeling of this is that for most people the spine, especially at the height of the head and neck, is not ideally supported, with sleeping complaints.

German Gebrauchsmusterschrift Nr. DE 20 2011 003 942 Ul, published on 16.06.2011 in the name of Schwenk, Hans Ulrich, and European Patent Application No. 2 130 461 Already published on 09.12.2009 in the name of Maremico, d.o.o., both describe a pillow with a high and a long long side to support the neck. However, they do not provide a shoulder cutout for kissing.

The International patent application published under no. WO 2015/004409 Already on the date of 15.01.2015 in the name of Cheetham, Dominic, such a shoulder recess is provided. However, this application explicitly advises not to provide the pillow with a high and a low side. Also, the shoulder hollow is only partly present in the long side of the pillow.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention aims to address the aforementioned and other drawbacks by providing a küssen kit containing various components that the user selects according to his / her individual physique into the ideal sleeping pillow to support the head and the neck can be assembled.

To this end, the invention relates to a cushion kit containing:

- a pillow core with:

two outer zones located along opposite sides of the pillow core to support the neck, and

- a central zone between the two outer zones in support of the head,

The invention also relates to a method for assembling a pillow using the components contained in the pillow kit according to the invention. The invention also relates to a pillow manufactured according to this

More particularly, the invention includes the cushion kit, the method, the kissing and the use thereof as described in the appended claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As stated above, the invention relates to a pillow kit, a method of manufacturing a pillow by a user using the components contained in the pillow kit, a pillow manufactured according to this method, and finally the use of this pillow.

The küssen kit includes the following components:

- a pillow core with:

two outer zones located along opposite sides of the pillow core to support the neck, and

- a central zone between the two outer zones in support of the head,

- the outer zones having different heights and the height of the central zone being less than the height of the lowest outer zone;

- characterized in that the pillow core has a rectangular shape and the outer zones are situated along the long sides of the rectangle and that the long sides of the rectangular pillow core have a center-waisted profile;

- three layers with different heights and each with a surface in shape and size equal to the pillow core;

- a stretchable cover suitable to contain the pillow core placed on up to three layers.

The pillow core:

The pillow core, part of the pillow kit according to the invention, has a pronounced ergonomic shape. This form was developed by the inventors in consultation with occupational therapists and back specialists.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the cushion core is composed of a pressure-reducing high-quality foam rubber.

The material marketed under the brand name Naturalis High Resilience of Carpenter, 5016 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230, USA can be used for this purpose.

It is a foam rubber in which part of the fossil material has been replaced by natural oil, in particular the vegetable oil extracted from castor nuts. According to a preferred embodiment, the cushion core can be made in two embodiments, soft and sturdy.

The soft variant preferably has a specific gravity or density included between 40 and 60, more preferably around 50 kilograms per cubic meter.

The higher this figure, the higher the durability, resilience and weight of the material.

The hardness of the soft variant, as a measure of comfort, is expressed as a KPA value; preferably it is included between 1 and 4, more preferably between 1 and 3, even more preferably around 1.8.

The sturdy variant also has a density of 50 kilograms / cubic meter and a KPA of 2.2.

The KPA shows the emotional value of the hardness, the density, the density of the material, the durability and the quality of the material.

The pillow core has a substantially rectangular shape. The outer zones of different heights are preferably situated along the long sides of the rectangle.

The cushion core is higher on one side (hereinafter referred to as the high side) than on the opposite side (hereinafter referred to as the low side).

The central part or zone of the pillow core is located between the two sides.

This zone is used to support the user's head. This central zone is lower than the low side of the pillow core.

Preferably, the surface of the cushion core gradually changes in height from an outer high side to the central lowermost and from there gradually back to the opposite opposite lower outer side.

This drawing also mentions some preferred dimensions of the cushion:

- the long side is 487 mm long;

- the short side is 409 mm long;

- the distance from the top of the high outer side to the top of the low outer side is 335 mm.

The height of the high side of the cushion is preferably 115 mm.

The height of the low side of the cushion is preferably 96 mm (not shown in the drawing].

The high or low side of the pillow core serves to support the neck or neck of the user.

According to the width of the user's neck or neck, he uses the high or low side of the pillow core.

This is depicted in Figure 6.

The top drawing of figure 6 shows a person with a thick neck.

In this way the cushion according to the invention is suitable for both persons, and the cervical vertebrae are perfectly horizontal in both situations, as shown by the horizontal lines in figure 6.

In this way, the object of the invention, in particular the provision of a pillow kit which nevertheless provides a perfect sleeping position for different persons with very different physiques, is guaranteed.

This perfect sleeping position is illustrated in the two drawings included in Figure 6, as well as in the photo in Figure 2.

In all these situations, the position of the spine, neck, cervical vertebrae and head is nicely horizontal. This guarantees a perfect restorative, deep sleep.

The long sides of the rectangular cushion core have a constricted profile towards the center.

This is illustrated in Figure 4.

The curved solid lines on the left and right in the figure show the shape of the top of the long sides of the pillow core. The curved dotted line next to the solid line is only illustrative that the top of the pillow core is indeed constricted towards the center of the pillow core. At the height of the short side of the rectangular cushion core (at the corner points) the width of the küssen is 399 mm at the bottom of the küssen and 409 mm at its maximum width, approximately halfway the height of the küssen. This width tapers gradually towards the center of the küssen.

In the middle of the küssen in this preferred embodiment the narrowest; the width is still 275 mm.

Widen the long sides of the pillow core, from the bottom to the top.

In the center of the cushion core, the angle at which these sides widen from bottom to top is 75 ° (angle between the side of the cushion core and the bottom of the cushion core), as shown in figure 5 left drawing.

Preferably, this angle is included between 60 and 85 °, more preferably between 70 and 80 °, even more preferably it is about 75 °.

The width of the pillow core is the smallest in the center of the pillow core. This width is then 275 mm at the bottom, 335 mm at the top. This implies that also in the height direction, the sides of the high side and the low side are constricted from top to bottom, in particular over a distance of 3 cm on each side, both the high and the low side (335 mm - 275). mm = 60 mm, so 3 cm on each side.

This height constriction is also visible in figure 3, see the shown side of the pillow core.

However, the ergonomic cushion described above is not sufficient to guarantee a perfectly horizontal position of the head, neck and cervical vertebrae for people with different physiques.

To this end, the overall height of the pillow core relative to the underlying mattress must be adjustable in function of the physique of the individual user.

The second component of the cushion kit according to the invention, in particular the layers, serves for this purpose.

The layers can be inserted or positioned at the bottom of the pillow core, increasing the position of the entire pillow core relative to the underlying mattress.

This is illustrated in Figure 3, in which these three layers are schematically depicted at the bottom of the pillow core.

This second component takes into account the second variant in the overall physique of the sleeping person. (The first variant concerns the thickness of the person's neck.] Depending on the physique, in particular the width of the shoulders and depending on the type of mattress that partly determines how deep the shoulders are or are not in line with the width of the shoulders. sips into the mattress, the person should use none, one, two or three layers to bring the pillow core as a whole to the correct height to obtain a horizontal position of his cervical vertebrae in sleeping position.

In total, these three layers can be used in eight different combinations:

These 8 options are available in combination with the high side, or in combination with the low side of the pillow core.

In total, the user thus has 16 possible positions to choose from through a judicious choice of

- on the one hand the high, respectively. the low side of the pillow core,

- on the other hand, a combination of the layers offered.

In principle, the height of the layers can be freely determined.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the different heights of the three layers relate to as 1.1.5 and 2.

According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the heights are, for example, 1, respectively. 1.5 and 2 cm.

The layers can be made from polyether foam. Preferably, the density of the layers is comprised between 15 and 30, preferably between 20 and 25, for example 23. The KPA value is preferably between 2 and 7, more preferably between 3 and 6, even more preferably about 3.6.

The pillow core and the layers that may have been selected by the user are preferably brought together and kept together by a cover, preferably an (extra) stretchable cover that is placed around the whole

As a possible alternative embodiment, the cushion core and the layers

This cover is designed to accommodate up to the pillow core and the three layers at the same time.

A pillow protector may be placed on top of the pillow core before pulling the cover over the whole.

Preferably, an antibacterial and washable stretchable cover is used. Clean cover is flexible but not extremely stretchable to go over the core and layers.

Alternatively, the outer cover only serves around the cushion core. A cushion protector / extra stretch cover is placed around the cushion core and then the outer cover or around the outer cover without using the layers of your choice.

Using the layers, the protector / extra stretchy cover is put around the whole: one layer or several layers and the core with the outer cover.

As stated in the introduction, a pillow is an essential part of achieving a correct sleeping position. It is important that the cervical vertebrae connect nicely horizontally to the dorsal vertebrae, and that the neck and head receive good and correct support.

The anatomical design of the pillow manufactured according to the method according to the invention supports the cervical spine in both side and back position or position. This gives the neck muscles the opportunity to relax completely. The intervertebral discs will absorb optimal moisture, and thus recuperate and recover.

In short, the pillow according to the invention guarantees every person a 100% correct sleeping position.
