Device for directional arrow blades

The present invention relates to a device for manufacturing, fixing and orienting at least one directional arrow blade placed on a mast or signpost.

Currently known directional signs and blades fixed to a mast by flanges or offering a sliding housing on the mast. Several of these panels can be mounted (or possibly stacked) on the same mast.

In an urban context with a high density of destinations to indicate it is necessary to be able to indicate several directions from the same level on the mast to limit the height of the masts and condense the information. Also intended for pedestrians, not concerned with driving directions, they should ideally allow an indication on both sides of the blade.

Current road signaling devices only allow one level per direction. They are single sided.

The present invention aims to allow the fixing of one to four blades on the same level by their narrow side. The device makes it possible to align the vertical central plane of the blade with the vertical axis of the mast offering perfect symmetry of the assembly. This assembly, called a flag, concerns a so-called directional signage confirming, at the crossroads, the direction of the relevant places.

The device makes it possible to constitute an aggregate (or assembly) of height of a directional blade by the assembly of four molded elements (aluminum or thermoplastics) called level. The center of this assembly constitutes a cylindrical or aggregate core in the shape of a crown which houses the rigid connection system of the molded elements and a system for orienting the level of arrows. This level assembly will be slid onto a polygonal mast whose edges will prevent the level from rotating in the horizontal plane.

Several levels can be stacked, they will be tightened vertically along the polygonal mast by its top.

The device consists of the following components:

A portion of cylinder of 90 ° whose outer surface, constituting the core, is extended by the directional blade, called blade.

A 90 ° portion of a cylinder whose outer surface constitutes the core, called a fitting.

A square section profile along the height of the cylinder portion of the preceding components, called a key.

To achieve their assembly, the blade and the connector have at their intersection a profiling or an asymmetrical notching complementary to each other, the extrusion of which is parallel to the generatrix of the mast cylinder.

This lateral profiling has a prominent part and a hollow part which fill and receive the reverse profiling of the neighboring part.

Embedded one inside the other, the two profiled surfaces will prevent the displacement of the two elements relative to each other in the plane perpendicular to the generatrix of the cylinder. This embedding will also prevent the twisting of a part relative to the other in planes parallel to the generator of the cylinder.

To block this embedding in the tight position, a square key is driven into a housing adjusted to its size, parallel to the generator of the core cylinder, and located in the center of the joint plane of the two profilings.

This square housing intended to receive the key is generated for half in each component. The geometry of the assembly means that the two half-housings are aligned in the tight position, the insertion of the key blocks the latter in the tight position.

The displacement of the components, preferably molded or extruded, in directions parallel to the generator of the core cylinder is prevented by the molding of a tenon in a hollow of the lateral profiling, eg of sinusoidal shape, and a mortise on the top of the opposite lateral profiling of the neighboring component.

These conditions combined the assembly of two molded or extruded components (blade + blade, blade + fitting, fitting + fitting) is equivalent to welding while remaining removable by extracting the key.

The device described above offers the following functionalities:

Easy assembly and disassembly of the aggregate, saving time when installing, maintaining or updating the signal.

Only three different components are necessary to constitute the arrows, simplifying the manufacture.

No difficult machining or fragile tapping to achieve.

Aesthetics of the assembly: only the junction lines of the guatre elements are visible from the outside avoiding letting appear any screws or other superfluous mechanical element.

It will be understood that the invention can be applied to devices other than those intended for directional arrows. The blade or blades can thus be replaced by luminaires, surveillance cameras or various detectors integrated or simply attached to a cylinder section.
