Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

  This invention relates to reinforced paper, more particularly to reinforced kraft which can be recycled.

  Known reinforced papers are traditionally made of four elements, in particular an upper sheet; an adhesive in the form of an aqueous dispersion; reinforcing yarns of polyamide; a lower leaf.

  A disadvantage of these known reinforced papers is that it is difficult or even impossible to dissolve them. More precisely are the reinforcement threads and the adhesive used which, at present, are insoluble.

  The object of the invention is to remedy this drawback and to provide a reinforced paper which can be recycled and which has the same quality as the known reinforced papers with regard to, for example, strength, durability and the ability to ink absorption.

  According to the invention this object is achieved by a reinforced paper consisting of at least one sheet on which an adhesive and a reinforcement are applied, the reinforcement is made of polyvinyl alcohol.

  According to recycling tests, a reinforced paper according to the invention can be dissolved in a manner traditionally called elementary level recycling, ie a

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 conventional pulp recycling, without the addition of chemicals, followed by basic protection treatment and slotted classification, under pressure.

  For the sake of clarity, an exemplary embodiment of a reinforced paper according to the invention is described below by way of illustration and not restrictive, with reference to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 schematically represents reinforced paper according to the invention; Figure 2 shows an enlarged scale a section along the line II-II in Figure 1; FIG. 3 represents a section along the line III-III in FIG.

  The reinforced paper 1 shown in FIG. 1 comprises a bottom sheet 2 and an upper sheet 3, between which an adhesive, not shown in the figures, is applied and a reinforcement 4.

  The adhesive is first fully soluble and is preferably a cold-based adhesive, ie an adhesive which can be applied at a room temperature and which hardens on drying, for example, a glue consisting of an aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate and polyvinyl alcohol.

  As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the reinforcement 4 consists of a plurality of threads 5 which can, for example, be arranged in the form of a weft.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

  It is evident that sheets 2 and 3 are preferably easy to recycle and, for example, made of paper of any kind or cardboard.

  The recycling of the reinforced paper 1 according to the invention is simple and as a result.

  In order to study the possibility of recycling the reinforced paper 1 according to the invention, tests were carried out.

  For these tests, reinforced papers that were made from kraft pulp, reinforced with a weft yarn 5, as described above, were recycled in a manner traditionally called elemental level recycling.

  Such elemental level recycling comprises a pulping, in which the reinforced paper 1, which is cut into pieces of about 20 × 20 cm, is applied, for 30 minutes, in a neutral solution, at a temperature of about 40 ° C. .

  After the aforesaid pulping, a large part of the sheets 2-3 and the threads 5 of the reinforcement 4 were dissolved and / or fragmented into very fine elements, forming a well-defibrated raw material.

  After pulping, the raw material was subjected to purification and classification using a 20 x 100 mm slotted folder, which resulted in the formation of a paste.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 According to the observations during the tests, this classification of the raw material does not pose problems of closing of the slits, and better still, an analysis of the pulp accepted by the above mentioned binder shows that the accepted pulp is very clean and that the rate solid contaminants is very low.

  Following these results of the recycling tests described above, it can be concluded that the reinforced paper 1 according to the invention can easily be recycled and that it can be used for the assimilation of new kraft papers.

  It should be noted that the reinforcement 4 does not necessarily consist of threads 5, but that the use of polyvinyl alcohol strips is not excluded.

  It is obvious that many modifications can be made to the example described above, without departing from the scope of the invention, as described in the claims below.
