<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
axiale.
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

5A.
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>

1
The subject of the present invention is the control piece and distributor of centrifugal blasting turbine, as well as each of the elements constituting said couple.
Centrifugal blasting turbines comprise pallets mounted on between rotary and integral plates, and are associated in known manner with a fixed control part, and with a rotary distributor or impeller. The distributor (or impeller) is fixed to the center of the turbine and therefore rotates with it. The control room surrounds this dispenser. It is fixed in space but angularly adjustable to fix the direction of the shot of shot. It is well known that the parts in contact with the shot are subjected to significant abrasion.
To respond to this problem, it has already been proposed to make small pallets and distributors made only of an abrasion-resistant material.
It has been possible to produce large control parts and dispensers only from materials with high abrasion resistance, but at very high costs.
In an attempt to solve the problem of control parts and distributors, an attempt has been made to heat treat the internal face of these in the presence of an agent having a high hardness so as to form a layer resistant to abrasion.
The layers thus obtained were found to present a risk of delamination. In addition, the quality control of the layer thus obtained is difficult, if not impossible. Finally, when part of the layer is removed by abrasion, the entire control part must be replaced.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The subject of the present invention is a couple control part and distributor for centrifugal blasting turbine, and in particular an element of this couple.
According to the invention, the control part and / or the distributor is made of composite materials. The invention therefore consists in the production of control parts and / or distributors comprising on the one hand a support, advantageously made of treated steel, and on the other hand one or more removable and replaceable wearing parts, in particular made of alloys very hard, such as an alloy with exceptional resistance to wear.
The wear part or parts will advantageously be suitably positioned in the control parts and / or in the dispensers to ensure good wear resistance of the support during their use.
An examination of conventional control parts and distributors, in treated steel, shows that some areas of these parts are heavily worn, while other areas remain almost intact.
An object of the invention is therefore to produce pairs of parts (control parts and distributors) or part of this couple (control parts or distributor) in materials composed on the one hand of a support (advantageously steel, preferably in treated steel) and on the other hand one or more removable and replaceable wear parts, advantageously made of alloys with very high hardness, the wear part (s) being able to be advantageously replaced or repositioned (for example after a reversal) to make refurbished or recycled control parts and / or distributors.
The supports of these control parts and / or distributors would thus be intact or almost intact, and the wearing parts actually subject to wear would be replaced or repositioned. This way of constructing control parts and distributors thus considerably increases their life, while offering a quick, profitable and economical solution to ensure good resistance to wear in one or more areas subject to wear.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The subject of the invention is therefore an element of a shot feed device for a centrifugal shot blasting turbine, said element comprising at least one support advantageously made of treated steel and one or more removable and replaceable wear parts, connected or attached to said support.
In particular, the subject of the invention is a control piece for supplying pellets for a centrifugal shot blasting turbine - FIG. 1, as well as the constituent elements of this piece. The control piece (Figure 1) has a body (support) defining a central chamber intended. receiving a rotary distributor, said chamber having a substantially cylindrical inner face. The body has a window controlling the passage of shot (Figures 2 and 3) from the central chamber or from the rotary distributor 2 towards the radial turbine, said window having a start edge for exhausting shot in the turbine and an end edge. exhaust shot in the turbine.
The control piece according to the invention is advantageously characterized in that it is provided with at least one series of bars made of a material having an abrasion resistance greater than that of the material used for the body, said bars forming at least partial protection of the end of distribution exhaust end and / or of a part of the substantially cylindrical internal face adjacent to the end of exhaust edge. Said thus advantageously form at least partial protection of the cylindrical inner surface of the control piece, in particular from the distribution exhaust to the exhaust end edge.
Advantageously, the control piece is provided with a series of axial bars arranged one next to the other, said bars forming a protection for the edge of the exhaust outlet end and at least part of the interior face substantially. cylindrical adjacent to the exhaust end edge.
The control piece advantageously cooperates with a rotary distributor 2 having a series of radial passages, said passages having a width
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
axial. Axial bars arranged one next to the other advantageously form a portion of polygonal surface close to a cylindrical or circular surface and advantageously offer protection of the part of the internal face, over a width at least equal to the axial width of the passages distributor radials 2.
According to a preferred embodiment, the control piece is provided with a series of axial bars placed one next to the other and forming a protection of the interior surface between the end of exhaust edge and the start edge of exhaust or an area adjacent to that edge.
For the placement or fixing of the bars, the body has at least one recess in which the bars are placed.
For example, the body has at least one groove intended to receive one end of the bars, preferably two grooves arranged one with respect to the other so that a first groove is adapted to receive a first end of the bars , while the other groove is adapted to receive the other end of the bars.
According to a detail of an embodiment, the body comprises two parts capable of being separated from one another for the placement of bars, and at least one means of securing the parts in a close position one of the 'other.
The bars advantageously have a polygonal cross section, advantageously substantially square or substantially rectangular or trapezoidal, of height between 2 and 15mm and of width between 2 and 20 mm.
A cylindrical bar section could also be suitable but this is much
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
less efficient than a square, rectangular or trapezoidal section. The surface created by the bars must approach as advantageously as possible a part of a cylindrical surface.
The bars are preferably made of tungsten carbide or other ultra hard alloys offering exceptional resistance to wear (nitride, ceramic, etc.).
According to an advantageous detail of an embodiment, one or more bars partially close the window and serve as means for controlling the opening of the window.
The subject of the invention is also a shot intake system for a centrifugal shot blasting turbine, said system comprising at least one control piece according to the invention and a distributor intended to be rotatably mounted relative to the control piece, said distributor having a series of arms arranged in the vicinity of the internal face of the control part.
Advantageously, the distributor arms consist of blocks made of a material having an abrasion resistance at least substantially equal to that of the protective bars of the control piece.
According to a detail of an embodiment, the dispenser comprises a tray, a crown, a series of blocks intended to be placed between the plate and the crown, and a series of means for securing the crown to the plate and for securing the blocks at the crown and / or the tray.
In particular, the blocks have an axial passage or hole intended to receive a rod or an element used to secure the crown to the plate.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Preferably, the plate and / or the crown have recesses to receive the end of the blocks.
The invention therefore also relates to a block distributor as described above.
The invention also relates to a centrifugal blasting turbine comprising a system according to the invention, and a blasting method in which a turbine according to the invention is used.
In this shot peening process, when one or more worn blades of the turbine are replaced, the face of worn bars is advantageously checked and the face of unused bars is replaced.
Details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment of a feed system for a shot blasting turbine.
In this description, reference is made to the accompanying drawings. In these drawings: - Figure 1 is a perspective view of the parts constituting a preferred supply system according to the invention; - Figure 2 is an elevational view of the control room, - Figure 3 is a plan view showing the light of the control room; - Figures 4A and 4B are sectional views along lines IVA-IVA and IVB-
IVB of the control part after removal of the distributor, - Figures 5A and 5B are sectional views along lines IVA-IVA and IVB-
IVB of the distributor out of the control room, - Figure 6 is a sectional view of a distributor similar to that of Figure
5A.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
The supply system shown in Figure 1 comprises a control piece 1 and a distributor 2, the latter being movable relative to the control part 1. The distributor 2 is for example mounted on the shaft of a motor driving in rotation the centrifugal blasting turbine (not shown).
A feed chute 3 leads the shot to the center of the dispenser 2. The shot is centrifuged by the arms 20 of the dispenser and ejected by the light 5 from the control piece 1. The shot leaving the light 5 is then captured by the turbine which thus achieves its acceleration until the turbine is ejected, to the outside diameter thereof.
The control part 1 comprises a body 1A defining a central chamber 4 intended to receive a rotary distributor 2, said chamber 4 having an interior face 4A which is substantially cylindrical. This body 1A has a window 5 controlling the passage of shot from the central chamber 4 or from the rotary distributor 2 to the radial or centrifugal turbine. The window 5 has an exhaust start edge 5A of the shot in the turbine and an exhaust end edge 5B of shot in the turbine.
In the embodiment shown, the control piece 1 is provided with at least one series of bars 6 made of a material having an abrasion resistance greater than that of the material used for the body 1A, said bars forming a protection from the end of the supply exhaust end 5B and / or from a portion of the substantially cylindrical inner face adjacent to the end of the exhaust exhaust 5B.
In fact, in the embodiment shown, the control piece 1 is provided with a series of axial bars 6 (bars whose axis is substantially parallel to the axis of rotation A of the distributor or of the centrifugal turbine) placed next to each other and forming a protection of the inner surface between the end edge
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
exhaust 5B and the exhaust start edge 5A or an area adjacent to that edge.
The bars 6 have a length L greater than the width L1 of the window 5.
The control part 1 comprises two parts 1A and 1B which can be secured to one another by means of bolts 7 or other mechanical systems. Each part 1A, 1B has a groove 8,9 intended to receive an end 6A, 6B of the bars 6. Between the grooves 8,9, a recess 10 is defined in the body, this recess receiving the bars 6.
The parts 1A, 1B are separated from one another for the placement of bars 6.
The grooves 8, 9 are provided with stops 11 to ensure that bars are not located in at least part of the window 5.
The bars 6 have a polygonal cross section, advantageously substantially square or substantially rectangular or trapezoidal, of height H between 2 and 15mm (for example 3,5,7,8,10 mm) and of width LL between 2 and 20 mm (for example 3,4,5,6,8,10,12, 15 mm). The polygonal shape of the bars 6, as well as its dimensions, are chosen to obtain a substantially cylindrical surface or corresponding to a part of a substantially cylindrical surface. These dimensions are given for information only and depend on the size of the control room.
The bars 6 are advantageously made of material or alloy with high hardness, in particular of tungsten carbide or other anti-wear material (nitride, ceramic, etc.).
We could also have used bars of hardness similar to that of the body, these bars then being replaced or repositioned (turned) once worn.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
In the embodiment, bars 61 partially close the window 5 and serve as means for controlling the opening of the window 5. These bars 61 define the final exhaust edge 5B of the window (or 5A for the other direction of rotation), area particularly subject to abrasion due to shot.
When the stops 11 are positionable in several different places (for example in the grooves 8, 9), it is possible to control the length LF of the window 5, that is to say to be able to control the width of the jet shot blasting.
The distributor 2 has a series of arms 20 arranged in the vicinity of the inner face formed by the bars 6 of the control piece 1. The bars 6 have a length L greater than the width Y of the openings 21 of the distributor 2, these openings 21 being defined between the arms 20.
The arms 20 of the dispenser consist of blocks made of a material having an abrasion resistance at least substantially equal to that of the bars 6 for protecting the control part 1.
In the embodiment, the distributor 2 comprises a plate 22, a crown 23, a series of blocks 20 intended to be placed between the plate 22 and the crown 23, and a series of bolts 24, means for securing the crown 23 to the plate 22 and for securing the blocks 20 to the crown 23 and to the plate 22. The blocks of polygonal cross section has an axial passage or hole 25 intended to receive the rod of a bolt 24 used to secure the crown to the plate.
The connection of the plate and the crown can thus be achieved by screws and spacers external to the block, on the side opposite the active face. In this mounting case, only one direction of rotation is allowed, that which prevents the spacers from wearing out.

The plate 22 and the crown 23 have recesses 22A, 23A for receiving the end of the blocks.
The blocks have for example a polygonal section (in particular rectangular) with a thickness or height of 5 to 30mm and a greater width of 5 to 25mm, the length being a function of the spacing between the plate and the crown. These dimensions depend on the size of the distributors, they are therefore given as an indication.
Another arrangement of the dispenser of the same invention, namely to make the wearing parts removable and replaceable, is to cover the arms of the dispenser with a jacket, for example in the shape of an L or a U made of materials with high resistance to wear such as tungsten carbides, nitrides, ceramics, etc. (see FIG. 6) The blocks, or arms in the case of a cast monobloc dispenser for example, are made up of or comprise two parts, namely the central block (or the arm) 20A and the protective jacket 20B. The bottom of the U of the jacket is placed on the inside so that the rotation of the centrifugal distributor keeps the jacket in place. Such an arrangement is shown in FIG. 6, section V-V of a dispenser equipped with a jacket made of an alloy with high wear resistance.
FIG. 6 shows a block 20A (or an arm 20A) of a dispenser surrounded by a jacket offering two wear faces 20Bis.
In one direction of rotation, an active face 20Bis wears out, while in the opposite direction of rotation, the other active face 20Bis wears out. It is clear, as in the case of the block described above, that it suffices to turn the jacket over to present a new active face 20Bis which is not worn. The bottom of the U being of course always placed on the small diameter side.

When using the feed system described above to feed a blasting turbine of the centrifugal type, it was noted that the bars 6 were subjected to a force pushing them towards the adjacent abutment (s) of the exhaust edge 5B from window 5, edge which is subject to the greatest wear. This slight movement also ensures that the bars 6 are well in contact with each other at least in the vicinity of the exhaust edge 5B. In the other direction of rotation, it is the edge 5A of the window which is concerned.
When the bars 6 and the blocks 20 or the jackets have a symmetrical shape, it is possible once one face of a bar or a block or a jacket is worn to turn the bar or the block or the jacket to use the unused side.
It is clear that the embodiment described above is given here only by way of example. Thus for distributors of small dimension, one will advantageously use a mono block part made of a material resistant to abrasion (for example tungsten carbide). Although advantageously, the bars and the blocks have a simple polygonal shape (to have a low manufacturing cost), it is possible to use more complex cross sections than square or rectangular like trapezoidal sections for example.
The feed device shown in the figures is associated with a shot blasting turbine to make one or more shot blasting, for example in a blasting chamber. This turbine can then be used in a shot peening process, in which when replacing one or more worn blades of the turbine, the face of worn bars is checked and replaced by a face of unused bars or by a non worn bars and / or the worn side of a blanket by an unused side of a blanket and / or the worn side of a dust jacket by an unused side of a dust jacket.
