Abstract

Een presentatie-en distributie-systeem van korte video-opnames waarbij gebruikers zich registeren op een on-line webpagina/net-database of off-line database(s) met de bedoeling om het automatisch en onmiddellijk doorgestuurd krijgen (real-time) of het op een bepaald tijdstip ontvangen van actuele of de meeste recente videobeelden, zoals nieuws-flashes, sport-hoogtepunten (bv. pas gescoord doelpunt van een favoriete voetbalclub), nieuws-events (bv. verkiezingsuitslag) of "breaking news", nieuwste muziekclips, nieuwste muziekclips, nieuwe promotie-trailers, uitslag van een wedstrijd, weerbericht, ozon-alarm, verjaardags-fecicitatie filmpje, reality TV recordpogingen, maar ook puur zakelijk : deelnemers aan een video-conference. Het doorsturen van deze files gebeurt via netwerken. De videobeelden worden vooraf geëncodeerd in een compressie-formaat dat hetzij MPEG conform is, hetzij MPEG onafhankelijk is. Bij ontvangst in het toestel van de gebruiker worden de gecompresseerde files gedecompresseerd, zodat de gebruiker op een gegeven tijdstip of ogenblikkelijk visueel geinformeerd wordt over de gewenste gebeurtenis of feit.
