<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

EMI5.2
réutilisé plusieurs fois et qui peut être ouvert à sa périphérie, possédant un transpondeur passif électronique dont la mémoire est subdivisée en plusieurs tones destinées à des groupes de données ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
entrer en mémoire des informations variables, en particulier pour introduire le numéro d'enregistrement du pigeon participant à la compétition (tel qu'il peut être lu sur la bague métallique) ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>

Par conséquent, tandis que le système TIPES permet une constatation électronique complètement automatique (plus précisément sans exiger la saisie du pigeon qui est rentré) grâce au numéro de fabrication de mémoire unique dans le monde entier du transpondeur 16 fixé à la patte du pigeon via l'antenne d'introduction dans le pigeonnier, dans le cadre de la constatation semiautomatique de la présente invention, on met l'accent il est vrai également principalement sur la sécurité (via la lecture électronique des transpondeurs 16 à titre de remplacement des bagues en caoutchouc), et moins sur la vitesse ;

The invention relates to a method and a mechanism according to the preambles of the main claims.
Such an operating mode corresponds to the travel regulations prescribed by the association of German pigeon fanciers e. V. (registered association) for the implementation of racing flights for racing pigeons in the version of the travel regulations before filing the electronic reporting procedure T? ES @ used for the first time in the world. Until then, we practiced uniformly in the sense that the travel associations provided to breeders for -eSDe.-r '. 7 rogra = ée the competition respectively scheduled, repeatedly, numbered rubber rings as competition marks for participants in competition flights.
To a pigeon participating in a> jcu - ceF-e competition, we applied, for this competition, in an additional way to its constant metallic ring bearing its registration number, as ring of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
competition, a rubber ring that was slid along its leg from the bottom and the number of the visible rubber ring was entered manually in a list of participants by referring to the registration number pigeon.
When the pigeon returns to its pigeon house, the breeder again removed the rubber ring from the pigeon to insert it, after having possibly introduced it into a sleeve (called a die), into the opening of reception of its observation clock in which, by a manual rotation movement, it was transferred to a closed reception space. Following rotational movements of this type, the same respective moment was simultaneously printed on a recording tape according to a classification corresponding to the rubber rings thus introduced by rotation one after the other.
For the establishment of the price list, the rubber rings were removed from the finding clock at another location, for example in the company premises to transfer the numbers of rubber rings according to an arrival list. a classification corresponding to their arrival times and to then assign them the registration numbers from the list of participants.
This classic treatment of sequences of figures which are difficult to remember clearly takes a lot of time and is very sensitive to errors, and it opens the way to irregularities which can hardly be explained afterwards because of manual transmission and classification. required repeatedly. Added to this is the fact that doublets of authorized rubber rings are offered on the black market, which can be introduced by rotation into a finding clock well before the pigeon provided with the original proper, namely the

In addition, this -s. 7-n Du-re, this reading of the ring number takes place when the cue is delivered to iDrs-u pigeons to the travel association, via a table antenna of the organization place to establish the list of oaroi ipants orficiel via the electronic numbers of the bacons of the oieons brought by oous the breeders by 7, us' - participating in the race. Finally, reading the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
transponder takes place when the pigeons return to their respective dovecote, automatically, by means of the input antenna in combination with a recording of the arrival time in force, confirmed by the radio clock to establish a table of 'time-phased entry, which is then combined in the travel association's computer with the entry tables of other breeders to determine the winner.
Thus, eliminating the establishment of manual lists which take time and which show great possibilities of errors, the identification information of the rings memorized in the transponder of the pigeons which return - and only of those which have actually returned - being recorded successively automatically and in a manner protected against manipulation in a correct classification in time, since the latter is confirmed by radio time.
To tell the truth, the breeder who thus records electronically-not the registration number of the pigeon, but the manufacturing number of the transponder enjoys the advantage, in addition to the convenience and safety of handling, also of '' a perceptible advantage over time, in the order of magnitude of up to about 1/2 minute, compared to the competitor who has kept the usual recognition process and who, after having patiently waited in his dovecote until the return of his pigeons, must seize the animals returned to the dovecote by following each other more or less closely, in an exhausted and frightened state, and must remove their rubber rings and introduce the rubber rings by rotation into the observation clock usual mechanical drive,
which is not only less expensive than the new
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
electronic equipment, but which in particular has also already been paid for a long time.
The basic object of the invention is to increase, even at the time of electronic data processing, by renouncing the electronic finding newly introduced on the market, simultaneously as well the residual acceptance which remains concerning the process usual observation, that the reception provision with regard to treatment possibilities for

electronic data with a future, making finding in pigeon racing in particular safer against fraud, while keeping as much as possible its fitting equipment and its type of operation.
This object is achieved in accordance with the invention by the fact that the characteristic measures of the two main claims are subject to improvement in accordance with the combination of the features of each of their characterizing parts.
In accordance with this embodiment, instead of the traditional competition rubber ring, a flexible signaling support is provided which can be
EMI5.2
reused several times and which can be opened at its periphery, having an electronic passive transponder whose memory is subdivided into several tones intended for groups of data;
more specifically, at least one fixed area, which cannot be influenced from the outside, for the unique entry by the manufacturer of the manufacturing number of the transceiver chip assigned only once worldwide, at least one area in which the breeder can
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
enter variable information into memory, in particular to enter the registration number of the pigeon participating in the competition (as it can be read on the metal ring);
if necessary, a variable additional zone for the characterization of the travel association or the regional company and / or the competition flight in force for which this signaling medium was created, and above all also, an additional zone suitable to be erased and in which one can rewrite after erasure, which is loaded with random information coming from the place of organization, this information being extracted from the memory thereafter in combination with the manufacturing number of the transponder and / or with the registration number of the pigeon, immediately at the place of organization for subsequent checks.
This random information, important for safety against manipulation, is therefore only generated at the place of organization on the basis of the delivery of the pigeon and is no longer extracted from the list drawn up at the place of organization in correspondence. with variable information in force on this pigeon transponder, without external influence. Thus, it can no longer be determined beforehand, neither listened to nor imitated voluntarily, which excludes doublets from the signaling support with which the breeder could simulate the arrival of a loose pigeon.
Once the pigeon equipped with this signaling support, has returned from its competition flight and joined its dovecote, the breeder who does not want, for example for pecuniary reasons, to use an electronic type manual reading device provided a clock and a memory, proceed in the usual way, as before, with the race rings
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
rubber: it removes the pigeon's signaling support and inserts it by rotation into its old observation clock, which makes it possible to mark the corresponding moment as usual: when inserted by rotation on the time band.
This takes practically no more time than manually bringing the caught pigeon to a reading device intended for the electronic signaling support. In particular, this breeder does not have an advantage over time compared to participants who make the observation as in the past with rubber competition rings, since he must also, after the return of the pigeon in the dovecote, undertake the same manipulations, more precisely the capture of the pigeon, the withdrawal of its competition signaling support and the introduction by rotation into the observation clock.
However, the advantage lies in the fact that, as already indicated, thanks to the random information for the identification of the signaling medium, no exchange for a race ring which has not been involved in any way. Theft is no longer possible anywhere, and by the fact that, when the signaling support introduced by rotation is removed from the finding clock, the identification and control information is recorded automatically via an antenna of a reading device, thus being protected against forgery and free from errors, and can be classified according to the time of arrival recorded on the time strip.

minimal participation, so that new information about the breeder and the registration to the fixed memory production number and possibly to the club number stored in this transponder is continuously reassigned, as described above .
In order to be able to reuse this signaling support equipped with a transponder as often as possible (as much as possible in the order of magnitude corresponding to a number of times much greater than 100), the transponder is preferably placed in a position parallel to the axis on a ring in a spiral or transversely with respect to the longitudinal extent of a flexible strip of textile or synthetic material, for example by gluing it on this strip or by sewing it on, respectively in this strip.
To be able to quickly attach it to the pigeon's leg and to be able to easily remove it from the pigeon's leg, the strip is equipped at one end, on one side, near a grip reinforcement preferably made in another color for a faster orientation - and correspondingly in the neighboring and middle area on the opposite side - of a synthetic material structure fitted with studs.
Additional alternative embodiments and improvements, as well as other features and advantages of the invention emerge from the dependent claims and the following description of preferred signaling media reduced to the essentials in the drawing which 'have not been represented quite to scale, for the finding according to the invention.

provided with a transponder used as a signaling medium for a competition flight, FIG. 3 represents a preferred organization of the memory areas for the transponder according to FIG. 1 or according to FIG. 2.
The flexible signaling support 11 created in the form of a race ring for the impending competition flight, in the case of the example of embodiment according to FIG. 1, is a spiral ring 2 shown in a front view , made of metal or a synthetic material, having ends 13, 14 overlapping in a loop. The outer end 14 is preferably slightly widened in the radial direction in order to be able to grasp it more easily at a reinforcement 18 with the aim of spreading the spiral ring 12, when this spiral ring 12 is to be applied to the tab of a pigeon or be withdrawn from said pact.
In a position parallel to the axis and preferably on its convex outer side, the spiral ring 12 is equipped

As regards the flexible signaling support 11 according to FIG. 2, the sleeve 15 or directly the transponder 16 in the form of a bar is fixed to a strip 17 of textile material or of synthetic material, the external end of which is preferably produced in another color and / or fitted with a gripping reinforcement 18. The area adjacent to the strip 17 has a studded structure 19, the complementary structure 20 of which extends over most of the length of the strip 17, on the opposite surface to near the inner end 13 of the strip. One can also provide Velcro strips fixed to a plastic sleeve 15 for a more secure, but removable fixing of the transponder 16 on the pigeon's leg.
The cooperating structures 19-20 provided with crampons or of the Velcro type thus allow, on the one hand, a more secure fixing of the signaling support 11 of the transponder after the embrace of the pigeon's leg and, on the other hand, easy removal after the return of the pigeon in its dovecote and multiple reuse for new objects intended for other competition flights.
This flexible signaling support 11, protected against loss - but which can also be removed simply - which can be fixed to the pigeon's leg and which can be reused several times, shows a capacity for compression, respectively for narrow winding so that it can be inserted into standard normalized clock finding apertures with diameters of approximately 1.7 cm and that it can be introduced by rotation with time marking in the reception channels of the clock.

EMI11.1
The construction and operation of the transponders 16 in the form of edges arranged on the signaling support 11, having an inductive antenna for the reception and attenuation of a reading field in the radio frequency range, are explained. in more detail in document EP 0 258 415 B1, and an apparatus for reading the memory of the transponder and / or for storing information in its variable areas 22, ...
25 is described in more detail in document DE 195 46 928 A1, which is referred to in their entirety to supplement the description of the present invention. With regard to the organization of the memory which is produced in the chip of the transponder connected to the coil-antenna, reference will be made to the distribution into fixed and variable information zones according to document EP 0 758 119 A2.

-, iée en As indicated symbolically in a simplified manner in Figure 3, the memory has, in the context of the present invention, at least one fixed area 21 and several variable areas 22, ... 25, that is to say erasable and able to a rewrite.
The fixed zone 21 contains a production number provided:. Only once and never a second time for the identification of this concrete memory, starting from the transponder 16 equipped with the latter. In a variable zone 22, the breeder stores the ring or registration number of his pigeon, readable on the metal ring, which he has chosen for the competition in force and to which he has consequently attributed this

from-; insi, '- a competition signaling support 11.
Thus, the performance of these individual pigeons can be followed during the competition, even if the signaling support 16 is worn in any competition.
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
Another variable zone 23 contains a random characteristic indication provided not by the breeder, but by the organizing company for the purpose of security against manipulation, developed for the organization of the competition in force, which is not predictable and cannot be generated later. Each random characteristic identification stored in the area 23 can be performed in an external random generator and transmitted via the antenna of the organization location in the transponder 16.
However, it is more advantageous to create it - on an external reading device command than the antenna of the organization location - on the transponder chip itself, since, unlike a simple reading , the transfer of information inside the chip implies a more resistant coupling field, leaving a risk of eavesdropping by the distant environment. Then, the random characteristic identification in zone 23 is also listed at the same time at the place of organization in combination with the fixed production number extracted from zone 21 and with the ring number extracted from zone 22, for the current competition.
The three zones 21, 22/23 are basically sufficient for the unequivocal allocation and protected against manipulation of a pigeon to its signaling support 11. However, preferably, as can be seen in FIG. 3, to facilitate the evaluation , an additional zone 24 is provided which is, it is true, variable, but which is inaccessible for a breeder and for the place of organization, in which the place which generates the signaling support 11 enters its identity in memory ( club number) and / or a characteristic identification for the specific competition (number of the

cencours' for which this signaling medium 11 was generated at the same time.
To carry out the evaluation of the competition in a more global manner and consequently to simplify it, there may furthermore provide an additional variable memory area 25 accessible by the breeder, into which the breeder enters his personal information concerning the competition for the respective pigeon (game number to be able to select automatically or semi-automatically the result of this participant of the competition later when establishing the list of winners immediately for individual bets.
To facilitate the handling possibilities that are obtained when using the usual competition rubber rings, as well as the organizational work related to the application and evaluation of rings before and after competition, and to make them less susceptible to errors , without giving up the usual course of a competition including the seizure of pigeons returned to the dovecote and the introduction by rotation of their race rings into a usual observation clock present anyway with the breeder, as a team therefore, in accordance to the invention, each pigeon intended for the current competition,
a reusable signaling medium 11 whose transponder 16 has been irreversibly individualized using an unequivocal manufacturing number from memory and in which, at the same time, for participation in the impending competition, at least the memory is stored

fixed and unique, at the place of organization.
After the opening of the observation clock, the signaling supports 11 which have been introduced therein are removed by rotation, successively, for classification purposes according to the time-stamped marking of the band transmitted manually and it is read with a device. high frequency reading in order to adapt to the reference information read during registration, as well as the correspondence cases for the establishment of the list.
Consequently, while the TIPES system allows a fully automatic electronic recognition (more precisely without requiring the entry of the pigeon which has returned) thanks to the unique memory manufacturing number worldwide of the transponder 16 fixed to the pigeon's leg via the introduction antenna in the dovecote, as part of the semiautomatic finding of the present invention, the emphasis is also true mainly on security (via electronic reading of the transponders 16 as a replacement for the rubber rings ), and less on speed;
more precisely, by the fact that one again relies on the seizure and on the registration number of traditional pigeons more familiar to the breeder, as well as on the clock of old mechanical observation, but also also on modern data recording technology already for data security, for data recording and for data adaptation.
At the same time, the semi-automatic system according to the invention with the same equipment ("ring") opens the way to a possible later transition to fully automatic electronic recognition, since the same signaling media 11 can be recorded from semi-automatically, after entering the pigeon,
